When questioned regarding the performance of BLACK TAIPAN, Jockey SU Lim advised that the gelding had shown no early pace and had failed to run on in the straight. Trainer HY Cheng stated that BLACK TAIPAN had poor form before joining his stable and he had not trialled the gelding as it had some clinical issues. Trainer HY Cheng was advised that in light of its performance, the gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
Trainer S Siva was questioned as to the performance of JJ STAR. He stated that it had never shown any pace and was always ridden in a rearward manner. He was of the opinion that the gelding had been affected by laying in slightly and had been straightened near the 200M.

On inquiry, the Stewards established that BAD BOYZ shifted inwards when crowded slightly by BIG BAD MAMA when that horse crossed. BAD BOYZ then became unbalanced when making contact with CLARTON TREASURE on its inside and crowded STEEL CUTTER which struck the rail. The Stewards considered this incident to be a racing incident, however, advised App I Fikri, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, L Moy, that he must ensure he gives correct and concise evidence when questioned.

An objection was lodged by Jockey L De Souza (FLYING DURUMI), placed second, against THUNDER DRAGON (App S Shazmin) being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 100M. The Panel of Stewards overruled the objection.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, App S Shazmin, the rider of THUNDER DRAGON, in the presence of his Employing Trainer’s representative, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he failed to correct his mount when it shifted.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App S Shazmin’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Selangor race days with effect from 18 July 2022 and to expire on 14 August 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey Y Aify’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days, to be deferred, with effect from 25 July 2022 and to expire on 7 August 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Jockey KP Lim (STAR BULLET) was questioned as to why he had not led. He stated that he had intended to lead, however, the pace was very fast from his outside and he had subsequently elected to follow the pace rather than challenge for it. A post-race veterinary examination of STAR BULLET revealed it was lame off fore and returned having cast its off fore plate. The gelding will be required to undergo a veterinary examination (3 weeks embargo) before being declared to race again.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey SU Lim, the rider of NINGALOO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted out near the 200M, causing STAR BULLET to check at the 175M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey SU Lim’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 18 July 2022 and to expire on 24 July 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC
SLTC TRACKWORK, TUESDAY, 12 JULY 2022
The Stewards, today, inquired into an incident at trackwork this morning.
After taking evidence from several persons attendant, Jockey KC Tham was found guilty of a charge of negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to observe the “loose horse” siren and proceeded to ride pacework on I’M THE MAN when a riderless horse was still on the track, thereby endangering himself, other persons and horses on the track. Jockey KC Tham was fined RM500/-.
SLTC, WEDNESDAY, 13 JULY 2022
FISH BALL (E559) which had sustained a slab fracture of the off fore distal radius and near fore distal, will be subjected to a compulsory rest for six (6) weeks and will only be allowed to be entered to race or trial after 24 August 2022.
GENERAL CHENG (H528) which had fractured its off hind leg, will be subjected to a compulsory rest for six (6) weeks and will only be allowed to be entered to race or trial after 24 August 2022.
Acting on veterinary advice that EL TORDILLO (C101) was diagnosed with chronic near fore fetlock joint disease and that it was recommended for deletion, EL TORDILLO will be deleted under the provisions of MRA Rule 84(2).
FOLLOW-UP(S) – SUNDAY, 3 JULY 2022
RACE 4 – SHOW HAND
A follow-up veterinary inspection of SHOW HAND (placed 6th) revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L Moy advised that he was of the opinion that given the gelding was racing first up for four (4) months and was inclined to lay in when tiring. Also, it may have been unsuited by the rail at 6M on this occasion. Trainer L Moy stated that it was his intention to continue with SHOW HAND’s preparation.
RACE 8 – D’GREAT EFFORT
Trainer S Cook advised that on returning to his stables, D’GREAT EFFORT (placed 8th) was found to be sore over the off side of its hindquarters. He stated that it was his intention to treat the gelding before resuming its work regime. Further, he was of the opinion that D’GREAT EFFORT may have resented the cross-nose band and it was his intention to remove it from the gelding.
