RACE 1 (R615) CLASS 5 – 1600m(lc) – HOT EGO HANDICAP

ACOUSTIC, a course scratching as it had sustained sole bruised off fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SERPICO and GOLD COAST CAPTAIN which were up 16kgs and 15kgs in body weight respectively since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

The saddle on SEMIFREDDO (Y Aify) slipped back during the running.

GOLD COAST CAPTAIN (J Low) laid out under pressure over the final stages of the race.

When questioned, Jockey HS Gill, the rider of MAYWEATHER and Trainer PK Leong, the Trainer of MAYWEATHER into the poor performance of MAYWEATHER today. Jockey HS Gill stated that his instructions were to be midfield. After getting a good jump, he managed to settle in a midfield position and the gelding was traveling well until the top of the straight. When placed under pressure, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Upon returning, Jockey HS Gill reported that MAYWEATHER was not striding out freely and was coughing. Trainer PK Leong stated that he was disappointed with the gelding’s performance today and could offer no tangible explanations as to its poor performance. He was advised that if he detects any abnormality with the gelding during the week, he would be expected to report back to the Stewards. Trainer PK Leong was reminded of his obligations under MRA Rule 117(3) regarding ‘in-and-out’ running. A post-race veterinary examination of MAYWEATHER revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded.

MAYWEATHER which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SEMIFREDDO and JETSTAR EAGLE (App S Saddam) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R616) CLASS 4 –1600m (lc) – HOT BUTTERFLY HANDICAP

BERCHAM, which was up 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

ALLIED MARINE (App J Daniel) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

JACKWIN (App SU Lim) jumped away awkwardly.

SOCOTRA (M Yusri) was slow into stride and showed no early pace, despite being urged.

HALO INSPIRE (App S Saddam) laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

BERCHAM (WK Yan) and SOCOTRA which both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BERCHAM and SOCOTRA revealed no obvious abnormality. Post-race veterinary examinations of ALLIED MARINE and JACKWIN revealed that both these geldings returned with respiratory distress and as such, they would each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

When questioned as to why he was unable to improve from the 1000M, Jockey J Low,

the rider of JOYFUL stated that he attempted to improve from the 1000M, however the

gelding had a tendency to lay in, making it difficult for him to improve until entering the

home straight, where he was able to fully test the gelding out. His explanation was noted.

RACE 3 (R617) CLASS 5 – 1100m(str) – SPEEDY WIND HANDICAP

MASTER OF SUCCESS (App S Saddam) and MR VICTORY (S Salee) both jumped away awkwardly and then bumped shortly after the start.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MASTER OF SUCCESS, ALIEN (J Low) and HERE COMES THUNDER (S Sandana) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards questioned App AM Aizat, the rider of HENNESSY DRAGON into his ride on the gelding in the presence of his master, Trainer F Maynard and Trainer S Shanmugam, the trainer of HENNESSY DRAGON. Trainer Shanmugam explained that his instructions were to get a good jump, race midfield and improve from the 200M. App AM Aizat stated that he got a good jump, raced midfield and commenced to improve from the 200M. Racing to the 150M, he attempted a run between TRIPLE COIN (App KC Wong) on his outside and GREAT GERONIMO (App J Daniel) on his inside. However, HENNESSY DRAGON laid in onto GREAT GERONIMO and was accidentally struck on the head by the whip of App J Daniel, the rider of GREAT GERONIMO. The Stewards questioned App J Daniel who confirmed that he had accidentally struck the head of HENNESSY DRAGON when using the whip. The Inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

RACE 4 (R618) CLASS 5 – 1100m (str) – VIBRANT SPIRIT HANDICAP

IKTO (J Low) was slow to begin.

TIME TO SHINE (App S Saddam) jumped away awkwardly outwards, causing BLAZING STEED (CK Tan) to be taken out and bumped MONEY NOT ENOUGH (App CT Lee) outwards.

LEE’S SURPRISE (SS Vanan) jumped away very awkwardly, dipped and bumped UNCLE GLORY (S Anandan). LEE’S SURPRISE continued to race ungenerously in the early stages.

Passing the 600M, LIGHTNING ROD (M Ganeesh) was held up for a run behind LEE’S

SURPRISE and IKTO. LIGHTNING ROD shifted inwards for clear running.

Post-race veterinary examinations of UNCLE GLORY, MAL’S DAD (WK Yan), IKTO and LIGHTNING ROD revealed no obvious abnormality.

MAGICAL TALENT (J Low) was slow to begin.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ALL SERENE (App SU Lim) and NEVERUNCONDITIONAL (CK Tan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 6 (R620) CLASS 5 – 1400m(sc) – JAZZMINT DELIGHT HANDICAP

KING SAVINSKY, a course scratching as it knocked its near fore tendon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of NEW CLASSMATE (J Low) at 3.32pm, acting on veterinary advice that the gelding was lame off fore. NEW CLASSMATE will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

DRAGON KNIGHT (M Yusri) and CHARLIE CAME ALONG (S Anandan) were examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and were passed fit to start.

At the start, CHARLIE CAME ALONG stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground and as such, the gelding will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

Passing the 200M, PRINCE ISLANDER (App AM Aizat) shifted in away from the whip and ducked in, crowding CHARLIE CAME ALONG onto the rails which had to be steadied. App AM Aizat was obliged to stop and straighten his mount in this incident.

Jockey S Anandan, the rider of CHARLIE CAME ALONG reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of CHARLIE CAME ALONG revealed no obvious abnormality.

GOOD GIFT (HK Cheng) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of LUCKY MONEY (App CT Lee) and GOOD GIFT revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 7 (R621) INITIATION – 1400m (sc) – FOUR ACES STAKES [NOT MORE THAN 4 YEAR OLD] [WEIGHT-FOR-AGE]

MULTIBLUE TOSCA, a course scratching as it had sustained a cut to its near hind fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

FINANCIAL WIZARD and AUSPICIOUS STAR which were down 17kgs and 16kgs in body weight respectively since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

HANDSOME BOSS (J Low) dipped shortly after the start.

FINANCIAL WIZARD (App KC Wong) hesitated and was slow into stride and shortly thereafter, had to be checked to avoid the heels of BLIXEM (HK Cheng).

Approaching the 1200M, BLIXEM had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CROWN TREASURE (HS Gill) which rolled in slightly.

MACHUNG STAR (Y Aify) raced greenly in the straight, obliging Jockey Y Aify to stop and straighten the gelding on several occasions.

Post-race veterinary examinations of FINANCIAL WIZARD and HANDSOME BOSS revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 8 (R622) CLASS 4 – 1200m(sc) – GOOD SIGHT HANDICAP

V RESPECT U which dislodged App S Saddam whilst enroute to the start, was apprehended, examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

MOGAN’S PET (S Sandana) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BIG BIT COIN (SS
Vanan) racing to the 700M when BIG BIT COIN rolled in.

Jockey S Sandana, the rider of MOGAN’S PET and App SU Lim, the rider of WAR

LORD reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of MOGAN’S PET, WAR LORD and CLASSIC KING (CK Tan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of CANDY CRUSH (J Chuah) revealed that the gelding had returned broken-winded and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 9 (R623) CLASS 4 – 1200m(sc) – SUN SUPREME HANDICAP

SUPREME STAR and SMOOTHLY, both course scratching as they had sore back and cut to its off fore fetlock respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Acting on a report from Usains Biomics Laboratory that CELERITAS (App M Sathiaa) had failed its pre-race testing, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of CELERITAS at 5.27pm. CELERITAS had been impounded. Trainer S Cook was advised that under MRA Rule 134(12), the gelding is barred from starting in any race until clearance is given by the Stipendiary Stewards.

AWAKENED (App AM Aizat) and RUSH (WK Yan) were slow to begin.

CLASSIC ARROW (CK Tan) was slow into stride.

LA QUINTA (App SU Lim) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GADAWON (App S Rosmizan) which rolled in slightly at the 500M.

Jockey CK Tan, the rider of CLASSIC ARROW reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of CLASSIC ARROW revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of RUSH, D’GREAT ERA (HS Gill) and LA QUINTA revealed no obvious abnormality.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of WHISPERINTHEWIND, Trainer KL Chong, the trainer of WHISPERINTHEWIND and App J Daniel, the rider of WHISPERINTHEWIND confirmed that the instructions were to ride a forward race. App J Daniel explained that the gelding traveled well until entering the straight and when placed under pressure and ridden under the whip, WHISPERINTHEWIND failed to respond and commenced to weaken quickly. Trainer KL Chong considered that the gelding did not handle the rain-effected track. He was advised that if he detects any abnormality with the gelding during the week, he would be expected to report back to the Stewards. The Stewards noted their explanation.

RACE 1 (R644) CLASS 5 – 1200m (lc) – CAPTAIN OBVIOUS HANDICAP
CHINESE SILHOUETTE, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore
knee, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
PEGASUS GENIUS (M Yusri) hesitated and was slow to begin.
At the start, LUCK TREASURE (J Chuah) had to be steadied when DRAGON WALK (J
Low) jumped awkwardly inwards and HAPPY AMIGO (App KC Wong) jumped awkwardly outwards.
UNCLE GLORY (S Anandan) was trapped wide on the turn and entered the straight wide.
From the 500M, PEGASUS GENIUS had a tendency to hang in and had to be
straightened on a number of occasions.
Passing the 200M, ZAC GALLANT (S Sandana) shifted outwards over the heels of
LEE’S MELODY (SS Vanan) to obtain clear running and passing the 100M, had to shift
outwards again over the heels of DRAGON WALK for a clear run.
Passing the 150M, GREAT GERONIMO (CK Tan) laid in under the whip.
Post-race veterinary examinations of UNCLE GLORY and LEE’S MELODY revealed no
obvious abnormality.
A post-race veterinary examination of PEGASUS GENIUS revealed that the gelding had
returned with respiratory distress and had cast its off fore plate. PEGASUS GENIUS will
be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that TAVAN BOGD (F Yap) had returned lame
near fore and as such, the gelding will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being
declared to race again.
When questioned regarding his ride in the straight over the last 200M, Jockey S Sandana,
the rider of ZAC GALLANT stated that gelding was not fast enough to take the run on
the inside of LEE’S MELODY and he had to shift out over the heels of LEE’S MELODY
for clear running. Shortly thereafter, when he anticipated to take a run on the inside of
DRAGON WALK, the gap closed and he had to shift out again over the heels of
DRAGAON WALK for a clear run. His explanation was noted.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of GREAT GERONIMO,
Assistant Trainer Mr. Mohamed Morli bin Baharu stated that the gelding had resumed
from a spell and had pulled-up well from its last start on the 14th May 2017. His
explanation was noted and was reminded of his obligations under MRA Rule 117(3)
regarding ‘in-and-out’ running.

RACE 2 (R645) CLASS 5 –1200m (lc) – GRIN HANDICAP
FOX TREASURE, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore foot, will be
required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
MAL’S DAD (WK Yan) and PRINCE ISLANDER (S Sandana) were both slow into
stride and showed no early pace despite being urged.
BLAZING STEED (CK Tan) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped BULL AND
BEAR (J Low) heavily onto SILENT DREAMS (M Yusri) and CUTTING TORCH,
resulting in CUTTING TORCH (Y Aify) becoming unbalanced. Shortly thereafter,
BLAZING STEED dipped.
Passing the 1000M, BULL AND BEAR steadied inwards to avoid the heels of BAIL
OUT (App AM Aizat) which was laying in. THE PROFESSIONAL (App S Saddam)
which was following, had to steady when BLAZING STEED shifted out in this incident.
From the 400M, BULL AND BEAR had a tendency to hang out under the whip, resulting
in Jockey J Low having to change the whip to his right to straighten his mount.
Passing the 400M, BAIL OUT had to shift out over the heels of SILENT DREAMS for clear running.
Post-race veterinary examinations of MAL’S DAD and PRINCE ISLANDER revealed no
obvious abnormality, whereas BLAZING STEED had returned with a cut to its near hind.
BLAZING STEED will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being
declared to race again.

RACE 3 (R646) OPEN MAIDEN – 1200m (lc) – MY DIAMOND STAKES [WEIGHT-FOR-AGE]
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MASTER OF SUCCESS suffered from a
colic and subsequently died, despite treatment.
Shortly after the start, SUPREME STAR (TM Wan) had to steady when SANDY’S
PRIDE (App T Krisna) ducked out sharply and D’GREAT SPIRIT (J Low) shifted
inwards. SUPREME STAR lost ground in this incident.
SANDY’S PRIDE and NAPOLEON (App KC Wong) both raced greenly throughout the race.
Post-race veterinary examinations of ARCHAEOLOGY (App S Rosmizan) and
HANDSOME BOSS (J Chuah) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 4 (R647) CLASS 4 – 1100m (str) – KIM BAY HANDICAP
BIG TSUNAMI, which was up 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by
the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
D’GREAT VULTURE (App KC Wong) was slow to begin.
SING ENERGY (HS Gill) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet)
before being declared to race again.
Jockey CK Tan, the rider of MESSI reported that his mount showed no interest in the
race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that no obvious abnormality.
Post-race veterinary examinations of BIG TSUNAMI (App S Rosmizan) and SING
ENERGY revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R648) CLASS 4 – 1100m (str) – SECRETARIAT PRINCE HANDICAP
YOU ARE GENIUS (M Yusri) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.
CLASSIC KING (App J Daniel) steadied when the gates were released and was slow to
begin.
Post-race veterinary examinations of SAM THE MAN (J Low), CLIP THE TICKET
(App SU Lim) and WINGED FOOT (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.
Prior to the declaration of the ‘All Clear’, the Racing Stewards and the Stipendiary
Stewards reviewed the start of this race. It was established when the Starter released the
field, Barrier 1, SAM THE MAN’s gate (J Low) did not open simultaneously with the
remainder of the field and as a consequence, SAM THE MAN was unable to jump with
the field and hit the barrier resulting in SAM THE MAN stumbling, almost dislodging
Jockey J Low in the incident. After considering the evidence from Jockey J Low and
Trainer PS Kumaran, the trainer of SAM THE MAN, the Racing Stewards declared SAM
THE MAN a non-starter under MRA Rule 115 and all bets on SAM THE MAN was
refunded.
When questioned, the Starter confirmed that there had been a malfunction of Barrier 1.
As the necessary maintenance were unable to be carried out in time, Barrier 1 would be
vacant for the remainder of today’s races.

RACE 6 (R649) CLASS 5 – 1800m (sc) – PERFECT PINS HANDICAP
KING FAALCON, a course scratching as it had swollen off fore pastern, will be required
to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Approaching the 1600M, KIWI MAESTRO (TM Wan) which was pulling, laid in and
brushed BALBOA (HS Gill) and as a consequence, brushed FOREVER BEST (App KC
Wong). Shortly after this incident, BALBOA had to be steadied to avoid the heels of
KIWI MAESTRO which rolled in.
BALBOA raced wide from the 1500M until entering the backstraight.
KIWI MAESTRO raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.
Passing the 200M, PHILIP (J Low) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FLYING
AHEAD (App W Faizal) which laid out and shifted in for a clear running.
Post-race veterinary examinations of BALBOA and TIME TO SHINE (M Yusri) revealed
no obvious abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that FOREVER BEST (App KC Wong) had bled
and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)
(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a Bleeder’s test before being declared to
race again.

RACE 7 (R650) CLASS 4 – 1400m (sc) – WISEMAN HANDICAP
MAZANDARAN, a course scratching as it was lame off fore, will be required to pass a
test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.
The start of this race was delayed for 5 minutes to commence at 5.10pm.
NOTHING TO LOSE (TM Wan) jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.
Post-race veterinary examinations of GET THE LOTSKI (App M Sathiaa), V RESPECT
U (App KC Wong) and JOYFUL (App SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BIG BIT COIN (SS Vanan) had bled and will
be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and
thereafter, will be required to pass a Bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.
When questioned regarding the change of tactics today, as opposed to its last start, Jockey
SS Vanan, the rider of BIG BIT COIN stated that his instructions were to race in midfield
or back, however after getting a good jump, he was unable to find cover and elected
to stride to the front. His explanation was noted.

MARCH 2017 AT THE PENANG TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2017 UPON
ANALYSIS REVEALED THE PRESENCE OF “EPHEDRINE’ WHICH IS A
PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE UNDER THE MRA RULES
The PNTC Racing Stewards on Thursday, 18th May 2017 heard the above Appeal at the
Penang Turf Club. Evidence was taken from Jockey J De Souza who was assisted by Ms
Magdalene Tan May Ling at his request, and the Penang Turf Club Medical Officer, Dr.
Kalahvathy d/o Tangga Muthu.
After considering submissions by Jockey J De Souza, the Acting Chief Stipendiary
Steward and the Club Medical Officer, the Racing Stewards dismissed Jockey J De
Souza’s Appeal against the 3 months’ suspension from riding in races. As Jockey J De
Souza had not been granted a Stay of Sentence, his 3 months’ suspension which took
effect from Saturday, 6th May 2017 will expire on Saturday, 5th August 2017. His deposit
was forfeited.

today, Saturday, 20th May 2017. The Stewards advised App AM Aizat in the presence of
his master, Trainer F Maynard that he should ride out all his mounts in a manner so as to
leave no room for query.

The Stewards questioned Jockey SS Vanan, the rider of BIG BIT COIN as to his vigour
in the straight. Jockey SS Vanan stated that BIG BIT COIN had not much early pace and
in the straight, he had to shift inwards for a run. The gelding managed to finish the race
well. His explanation was noted, however, he was advised to ride all his mounts in a
manner so as to leave no room for query and use his full vigour on every occasions.

RACE 1 (R651) CLASS 5 – 1600m(lc) – ISHBILIYA HANDICAP

RACING MAN, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

CASPER which was up 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

ZAC SUGGESTION (S Salee) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

CASPER (App AM Aizat) had to be steadied racing to the 700m to avoid the heels of KING OF THE CREEK (SS Vanan).

CONQUISTADOR (F Yap) over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race.

The Stewards questioned App M Sathiaa, the rider of LIGHTNING ROD as to the reason his mount laid out and finished wider on the track in the presence of his master, Trainer S Cook and Trainer Evert Van Breukelen, the trainer of LIGHTNING ROD. He stated that the horse had a tendency to lay out under the whip in his right hand but he felt that it would respond better if he changed the whip to the left. App M Sathiaa further stated that as a consequence, the horse continued to drift out and finished wider on the track. The Stewards noted his explanation.

When questioned, Trainer K Coetzee, the trainer of CHINESE STREET (App T Krisna) stated in his opinion, the extra distance today could have contributed to the gelding’s improved performance. His explanation was noted, however, Trainer K Coetzee is reminded of his obligations under MRA Rule 117(3) regarding ‘in-and-out’ running.

Post-race veterinary examinations of COCONUT (WK Yan), ZAC SUGGESTION and GREAT PRINCE (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R652) CLASS 5 –1600m (lc) – CRYSTAL HANDICAP

MAGIC RANGER dislodged App S Rosmizan enroute to the start and galloped a considerable distance. Acting on veterinary advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of MAGIC RANGER at 2.18pm and the gelding will be required to pass one starting stall test (to be ridden unaided to the start) before being declared to race again.

PISCES JET (App J Daniel) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

App J Daniel, the rider of PISCES JET reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of PISCES JET revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of BLACK SORCERER (HK Cheng) revealed that the gelding had returned lame near fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today, Jockey S Sandana, the rider of GRAND SHOW

was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that

approaching the winning post, he allowed GRAND SHOW to shift out when

insufficiently clear of ONE MORE ACHIEVER (WK Yan), resulting in that gelding

having to be checked. Jockey S Sandana was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, effective from Monday, 22nd May 2017 and to expire on Saturday 3rd June 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal
(3.42pm).

 

RACE 3 (R653) CLASS 5 – 1600m (lc) – GUANGZHOU STAR HANDICAP

The Stewards permitted Jockey HK Cheng to replace Jockey WK Yan as the rider of ZHAN SHEN as the latter was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

Post-race veterinary examinations of CLASSIC ARROW (App J Daniel), HIGHLAND FALCON (App S Saddam), BULLISH LUCK (M Zairi), DRAGON KNIGHT (M Yusri) and PRETTY ABLE (App CT Lee) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BULLISH LUCK returned having cast its off fore plate and WATER PARK (S Salee) returned having cast its near hind plate.

RACE 4 (R654) ENRICH STAKES A – 1600m (lc) – BIG RED POINT STAKES [SET WEIGHTS]

The start of this race was delayed for 5 minutes to commence at 3.25pm. BANKERS CALL (D Chong) and GLORY AGE (J Low) jumped away awkwardly. MR ARMSTRONG (App T Krisna) and GLORY AGE were slow into stride.

Post-race veterinary examinations of THE MILLIONAIRE (Y Aify) and GLORY AGE revealed no obvious abnormality.

 

RACE 5 (R655) CLASS 4 – 1400m (sc) – HUMBLE PRINCE HANDICAP

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MOGAN’S PET suffered from acolic, however despite treatment, the gelding had to be humanely euthanized.

SATELLITE GENIUS, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore cannon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

HALO INSPIRE (M Yusri) was slow to begin.

WHISPERINTHEWIND (App J Daniel) turned its head to the right side stall when the start was affected and shortly after, had to be steadied when FIELD FORCE (J Low) shifted in.

RUSH (S Anandan) had to be steadied when making the 1200M turn.

JUST NAME IT (App SU Lim) was difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.

Jockey S Anandan, the rider of RUSH reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of RUSH revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MEGUSTO (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality and AWAKENED (App AM Aizat) returned lame off fore. AWAKENED will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

 

RACE 6 (R656) M’SIA 3YO CHAMPIONSHIP 2017 (HEAT 1) – 1200m(sc)
[3YO’S ONLY] [SET WEIGHTS]

TOKO and GASSUR which were down 21kgs and 16kgs respectively in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

After being loaded, EBTIHAAL (S Salee) was restless in the stall, was taken out for veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Acting on the Starter’s report that the back gate of Barrier 4 was damaged by EBTIHAAL and was incapable to be repaired in time, the Stewards permitted to move to the next available stall from Barrier 5 outwards.

GASSUR (S Anandan) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barrier and was passed fit to start.

Racing to the 1100M, SYMBOLIC GESTURE dipped and as a consequence, App J Daniel became unbalanced for a short distance.

MULTIBLUE SHARK (TM Wan) and GASSUR raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

D’GREAT EFFORT (J Low) laid out approaching the 100M, resulting in PORSENCE (App M Sathiaa) being forced wider on the track. Jockey J Low, the rider of D’GREAT

EFFORT was shown the video and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MY GOODNESS (CK Tan), SYMBOLIC GESTURE, EBTIHAAL and FRASER (Y Aify) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards questioned Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of CIZEN into that gelding’s

performance. He stated that his instructions were to get a good jump, which he did and

shortly after the start, the gelding commenced to over-race and racing to the 800M, was

difficult to settle, threw its head up, obliging him to continue restraining CIZEN.

Approaching the 600M, the gelding settled and on entering the straight and from the

300M, he commenced to ride with the whip and the gelding responded well. His

explanation was noted.

 

RACE 7 (R657) ENRICH STAKES A – 1200m (sc) – CONFLAIR STAKES [WEIGHT-FOR-AGE]

MIA, a course scratching as it had fever, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

REAL MEAN which was down 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

REAL MEAN (J Low) was slow into stride.

AL VALORE (HS Gill) was eased up passing the 300M and did not finish the race. A post-race veterinary examination of AL VALORE revealed that the gelding had bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule

92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a Bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of RIGHT TIMING (TM Wan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 8 (R658) CLASS 5 – 1200m (sc) – SURE WE CAN HANDICAP

DEPUTY LAW (App S Saddam) had to be checked racing to the 800M when HAPPY CHOICE (App S Rosmizan) rolled in.

Racing to the 700M, EXPLOSIVE FORCE (J Low) laid out, causing SUPER GOOD (App SU Lim) wider on the track and as a consequence, raced wide until entering the straight.

The saddle on EXPLOSIVE FORCE slipped back during the running.

Post-race veterinary examinations of HAPPY CHOICE and EXPLOSIVE FORCE revealed no obvious abnormality and DEPUTY LAW returned lame off fore. As such, DEPUTY LAW will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 1 (R841) CLASS 5 – 1200m(lc) – RUBBER PLANTER 1956 HANDICAP

HAPPY CHOICE, a course scratching as it had sustained a cut on its nostril, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SEE FOR YOURSELF which was up 23kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Shortly after the start, BLAZING STEED (CK Tan) shifted in when insufficiently clear of NEW CLASSMATE (J Low), resulting in NEW CLASSMATE being carried in, causing SEE FOR YOURSELF (S Sandana) to be checked and lost its position.

Passing the 1000M, UNCLE GLORY (C Goon) had a tendency to over-race and ran up to the heels of BLAZING STEED, resulting in UNCLE GLORY having to steady outwards.

Jockey M Yusri, the rider of SILENT DREAMS reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of SILENT DREAMS revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of RISE UP THE RANK (App KC Wong), UNCLE GLORY and LEE’S MELODY (SS Vanan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Jockey M Yusri and Trainer Evert Van Breukelen, the

rider and trainer of SILENT DREAMS into that gelding’s performance. Jockey M Yusri

stated that his instructions were to get a good jump, but the horse showed no early speed,

got further back and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the

straight. Trainer Evert Van Breukelen stated that he was unable to give any tangible

explanation for the disappointing performance of the gelding today. He was advised to

report back to the Panel of Stewards if he detects any abnormality with the gelding during

the week and he was reminded of his obligations under MRA Rule 117(3) regarding ‘in-and-out’ running.

SILENT DREAMS which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today, Jockey CK Tan, the rider of BLAZING STEED pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted his mount inwards when insufficiently clear of NEW CLASSMATE, carrying NEW CLASSMATE onto SEE FOR YOURSELF which had to be checked and lost ground. Jockey CK Tan’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days.

Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Panel of Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension to start from Monday, 10th July 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 23rd July 2017, both dates inclusive. He was informed of his Right of Appeal (4.05pm).

TRIPLE COIN (J Low) jumped away awkwardly inwards and shortly after, stumbled, inconveniencing ALIEN (App AK Lim), resulting in ALIEN losing his position.

MAGICAL TEN (App KC Wong) and TRIPLE COIN raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

LA FAMILIA and ONLY YOU, both course scratching as they had sustained a sore near hind foot and a bruised off fore knee respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

AUD DOLLAR which was down 21kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

CLASSIC SUPREME (SS Vanan) was slow to begin.

Racing to the 900M, CLASSIC SUPREME rolled in and brushed TILSWORTH FREDDIE (CK Tan) which was taken in across the heels of AUD DOLLAR (S Anandan) which had to be checked and then shifted out and raced wide until entering the straight.

CLASSIC SUPREME raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

The saddle on CLASSIC SUPREME slipped backwards during the running.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GREAT SCOTT (App KC Wong) and AUD DOLLAR revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today, App AM Aizat, the rider of MISTER MIYAGI in the presence of his master Trainer F Maynard pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that shortly racing to the 900M, he shifted inwards when insufficiently clear of CAPTAIN JAZZ (J Low), bumping CAPTAIN JAZZ on several occasions, forcing him in and causing AUD DOLLAR to be checked and lost its position.

App AM Aizat’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of three (3)
Malaysian race days.

Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Panel of Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension to start from Monday, 10th July 2017 and to expire on Saturday, 29th July 2017, both dates inclusive. He was informed of his Right of Appeal (5.10pm).

Acting on a letter circulated (M-R07.013) from the MRA dated 24th January 2017 of the extension granted under MRA Regulation 13.7 for LUCK TREASURE, trained by Trainer N Azman, the horse had been deleted from the Classification List on 30th June 2017. As such, the Panel of Stewards scratched LUCK TREASURE at 1.15pm.

DARK EXPRESS which was up 48kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

ZAC GALLANT (J Low) jumped away awkwardly and dipped and shortly thereafter, had to checked when DARK EXPRESS (S Sandana) shifted in away from MONEY NOT ENOUGH (SU Lim), resulting in ZAC GALLANT being checked.

ZAC GALLANT raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

App AK Lim and Jockey SU Lim, the riders of SPARKLER and MONEY NOT ENOUGH respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of SPARKLER and MONEY NOT ENOUGH revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MY SWALLOW (App KC Wong), IKTO (App CK Khaw), THONG’S JIAQING (App M Sathiaa) and ZAC GALLANT revealed no obvious abnormality.

UNION JAC which was up 23kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

UNION JAC (S Muniandy), FUMIO (J Low) and MR NEWMAN (S Anandan) all raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

Approaching the 200M, UNION JAC had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CUTTING TORCH (Y Aify) which rolled out under pressure.

Jockey S Muniandy, the rider of UNION JAC dropped his whip at about the 300M and he was warned that a repetition may lead to action being taken against him.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of BIRRALEE ROAD reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of BIRRALEE ROAD revealed no obvious abnormality.

RUFFLE THE RUFFIAN (S Sandana) reared when the gates were released and shortly after, threw its head and was slow to begin.

JOYFUL (App AK Lim) over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race.

The Stewards concluded an Inquiry today, Sunday, 2nd July 2017 at Perak Turf Club.

Evidence was taken from App M Sathiaa, the rider of GOLDEN EMPIRE in the presence of his master and trainer of GOLDEN EMPIRE, Trainer S Cook. After reviewing all angles of the race, the Stewards warned App M Sathiaa in the presence of his master that he should ride all his mounts out in a manner so as to leave no room for query.

JETSTAR EAGLE (App AK Lim) was slow to begin.

Racing to the inside at the 800M, LIGHTNING ROD (App S Saddam) had to be steadied on several occasions when getting onto the heels of BM POWER (S Anandan).

Racing to the 200M, ALACARTE (SU Lim) shifted out, carrying BM POWER outward, resulting in BM POWER having to be steadied and GOOD GIFT (WK Yan) which was following in this incident, had to be steadied.

Jockey SU Lim, the rider of ALACARTE was shown the video of the incident and warned to exercise more care under similar circumstances in future.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GOOD GIFT, KING OF THE CREEK (SS Vanan), GREAT PRINCE (App KC Wong), PERFECT FIXER (J Low) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R835) CLASS 5 – 1600m(lc) – FRASER’S HILL 1965 HANDICAP

APROBACION which was up 23kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

PISCES JET (SS Vanan) and COCONUT (S Sandana) were both examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and were passed fit to start.

LEAP OF FAITH (App KC Wong) and COCONUT were both slow to begin.

The Stewards questioned Trainer N Azman, the trainer of LUCK DRAGON (F Yap) into

the improved performance of the gelding today. He stated that he was unable to explain

the gelding’s poor performance in Penang on 03/6/2017. However, he stated that he had

freshened up the gelding and the removal of blinkers may have contributed to the

gelding’s improved performance today. His explanation was noted and he was reminded

of his obligations under MRA Rule 117(3) regarding ‘in-and-out’ running.

The Stewards questioned Jockey SU Lim, the rider of ZHAN SHEN into that gelding’s

poor performance today. He stated that the gelding failed to respond to his riding early in

the race and when he urged ZHAN SHEN from the 600M, it again failed to respond to

his riding and finished the race poorly. His explanation was noted.

The Stewards also questioned Trainer KP Hoy, the trainer of ZHAN SHEN who could

offer no tangible explanation to the gelding’s disappointing performance today. He was

advised to report back to the Panel of Stewards if he detects any abnormality with the

gelding after cooling down.

The Stewards questioned Trainer K Coetzee, the trainer of BALBOA who stated that his instructions were to be midfield and that he was disappointed with the gelding’s performance today and noted that BALBOA lost its near fore plate during the running.

Jockey HS Gill confirmed the instructions and felt that BALBOA failed to respond to his

riding throughout the running of the race and when placed under the whip from the

400M, was disappointing in the running.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ZHAN SHEN, COCONUT and BALBOA revealed no obvious abnormality. BALBOA returned having cast its near fore plate.

DOUBLE JEOPARDY, a course scratching as it had (float injury) injured its off hind, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

FIRST OPTION which was restless in its stall, reared and dislodged Jockey S Salee. FIRST OPTION was taken out for a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

However, acting on the Starter’s report that Jockey S Salee was injured in this incident and to avoid unnecessary delay, the Panel of the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of FIRST OPTION at 3.19pm. Jockey S Salee was sent to the hospital for further observations.

TEEN ANGEL (SS Vanan) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

Passing the 800M, DUE HOME (J Low) had to be steadied when tightened for room between GOLDEN EMPIRE (App M Sathiaa) which rolled out and EMPIRE BAY (App AK Lim) which rolled in and as a result, lost ground.

 

MR VICTORY (App S Rosmizan) laid in at the 450M and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SUPER GOOD (SU Lim) and racing inside to the 300M, again had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SUPER GOOD and shifted to obtain a clear running.

Post-race veterinary examinations of DUE HOME and TEEN ANGEL revealed no obvious abnormality.

Emergency acceptors HANDSOME BOSS and CENTURY WORLD were withdrawn due to a capacity field.

Acting on the Veterinary Surgeon’s report that YENDOR had sustained a stone bruised to its off fore sole, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of YENDOR at 1.40pm. YENDOR will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

HK DOLLAR which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Jockey S Sandana was fined RM500/- under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Rule 107(10) for failing to make the carded weight on RELAU STAR. The Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey SS Vanan to replace him as the rider of RELAU STAR.

EBTIHAAL (App S Rosmizan) which was unable to be loaded and to avoid unnecessary delay, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of EBTIHAAL at 4.02pm. The gelding will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

THAI BAHT (D Chong) which was restless in the barrier, was taken out for a veterinary examination. Acting on a Veterinary Surgeon’s report that THAI BAHT had sustained a cut to its right stifle and had bruised its near hind cannon, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of THAI BAHT at 4.03pm. THAI BAHT will be required to re-qualify in an ORT before being declared to race again.

 

CHERISH (M Yusri) broke through the gate and ran a considerable distance. To avoid unnecessary delay, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of CHERISH at 4.05pm. CHERISH will be required to re-qualify in an ORT before being declared to race again.

PURPLE RAIN LADY (App M Sathiaa) jumped away awkwardly and was very slow to begin.

WE’RE THE WORLD (TM Wan) over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race.

TRIPLE ONE D’GREAT (App AK Lim) raced greenly and racing to the 1000M, shifted ground outward.

D’GREAT ARES (J Low) raced greenly in the straight and shifted out, finishing wider on the track.

WHIRLWIND (WK Yan) raced greenly at about the 300M and shifted out.

Post-race veterinary examinations of WHIRLWIND and PANCA DELIMA (App AM Aizat) revealed no obvious abnormality.

PENANG TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2017

On 25th June 2017, Trainer R Lines acknowledged receipt of the notification from MRA regarding urine samples coded “09079” and “09102” both of which revealed the presence of “Naproxen” and were reported to have been taken from horses “GOOD MUMMY” and “ELF’S DREAM” respectively.

On 28th June 2017, Trainer R Lines advised the MRA that he wished the Referee Samples to be sent to the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory, Sydney, Australia, for Independent analysis.

An Inquiry will be held at a date to be fixed.

The report dated 23rd June 2017 (V17/068) from the Chief Analyst of USains Biomics Laboratory stated that 4 coded urine samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 13th June 2017 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

At about 1.51pm, Trainer A Scott, the trainer of THAI BAHT (Race 5) advised the Panel of Stewards that she is not in attendance at today’s races and that Trainer L Moy whom she had acting on her behalf is also not in attendance. Trainer A Scott sought permission via email for Trainer K Coetzee to act on her behalf. The Panel of Stewards confirmed that Trainer K Coetzee is agreeable to act on Trainer A Scott’s behalf. The Panel of

Stewards will question Trainer A Scott and Trainer L Moy regarding this matter at a date to be fixed.

RACE 1 (R865) CLASS 5 – 1400m (lc) – SINGAPORE SUN 1976 HANDICAP

MAYWEATHER (HS Gill) and BUKIT BINTANG (CK Tan) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of MAYWEATHER reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of MAYWEATHER revealed no obvious abnormality. MAYWEATHER which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer K Coetzee regarding the improved performance of SEE FOR YOURSELF (S Sandana) today. He explained that from a wide barrier, he instructed Jockey S Sandana to get a good jump and go forward and get across to the railings. He further could offer no other tangible explanations for the improved performance, except that it was a weaker field today and SEE FOR YOURSELF got a good race. His explanation was noted and was reminded of his obligations under MRA Rule 117(3) regarding ‘in-and out running.

Post-race veterinary examinations of HIGHLAND FALCON (M Zairi) revealed no obvious abnormality and CLASSIC ARROW (C Goon) revealed that the gelding returned with respiratory distress. As such, CLASSIC ARROW will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

DEPUTY LAW, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore heel, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer KP Hoy was fined RM250/- under Clause 13(b) of the PRTC official programme for presenting ZHAN SHEN late to the Holding Yard.

ZHAN SHEN (SU Lim) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

Racing to the 800M, GO LANCE (G Pereira) rolled out, resulting in SING ENERGY (HS Gill) being taken out and bumping APROBACION (App CK Khaw), which was taken wider.

Over the concluding 200M, SING ENERGY laid out and away from the whip, taking APROBACION wider on the track. Jockey HS Gill, the rider of SING ENERGY was shown the vision of the race and advised that he must stop and straighten his mount under similar circumstances in future.

Jockey S Anandan, the rider of HOME RUN HERO reported that his mount was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of HOME RUN HERO revealed that the gelding had returned broken-winded and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 3 (R867) OPEN MAIDEN – 2000m (lc) – PAPA’S LOVE 1983 STAKES

ECLIPSE FORCE, a course scratching as it had sustained nail bind of both fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

GOLDEN EMPIRE (App M Sathiaa) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

GOLDEN EMPIRE reared as the gates were released and was slow to begin.

BLACK THORN (D Chong) jumped away awkwardly and outwards.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey TM Wan, the rider of SUPREME STAR pleaded guilty to a charge for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that 100M after the start, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ARCHAEOLOGY (S Anandan) which had to be checked and as a consequence, ARCHAEOLOGY shifted in and bumped HANDSOME BOSS (App S Saddam).

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey TM Wan’s guilty plea, disciplinary record and mitigating factors. Jockey TM Wan was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, effective from Monday, 10th July 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 23rd July 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (3.15pm).

Post-race veterinary examinations of ARCHAEOLOGY and CENTURY WORLD (J Chuah) revealed no obvious abnormality and AUGUSTA (G Pereira) returned broken-winded. As such, AUGUSTA will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MAGICAL BANKER (App W Faizal) had bled and as such, the gelding will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, passed a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

CENTURY WORLD returned having cast its off hind plate.

Approaching the 1000M, MARINI WALTZ had to be steadied when racing in tight room to the inside of CLIP THE TICKET (SU Lim).

IN FULL BLOOM (App KC Wong) rolled in racing to the 900M, resulting in IDYLLIC SCENERY (HS Gill) having to be steadied.

Approaching the 300M, KUANTAN HILL had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ITS ONLY MONEY (App AK Lim) and shifted out for clear running.

Approaching the 200M, ITS ONLY MONEY had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CLIP THE TICKET and shifted out to obtain a clear running.

Jockeys S Sandana, J Chuah and App KC Wong, the riders of SATELLITE GENIUS, MARINI WALTZ and IN FULL BLOOM respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of SATELLITE GENIUS, MARINI WALTZ and IN FULL BLOOM revealed no obvious abnormality.

GOLD COAST CAPTAIN (App KC Tham) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.

Approaching the 1600M, CARBON COPY and FAST RICH (S Sandana) brushed on several occasions.

Passing the 1600M, MEGUSTO (SU Lim) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FLIGHT OFTHE SAKER (App AM Aizat) which rolled in.

A post-race veterinary examination of GLORY AGE revealed no obvious abnormality. As BERCHAM (App S Saddam) was unable to be scoped by the Club Veterinary Surgeon, the gelding will be scoped at a later date and a veterinary report will follow.

HEAVENLY GIFT (S Anandan) jumped away awkwardly and outwards, taking MULTIBLUE TOSCA (F Yap) wider, resulting in both horses being slow into stride.

D’GREAT VULTURE (HS Gill) jumped away awkwardly and had to be steadied at about the 800M when racing greenly.

Racing to the 600M, D’GREAT VULTURE which was over-racing, hung out, taking HEAVENLY GIFT wider on the track and as a consequence, MULTIBLUE TOSCA was also taken wider.

The saddle on EXPLOSIVE FORCE (App AK Lim) slipped backward during the running.

Jockey S Anandan, the rider of HEAVENLY GIFT reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of HEAVENLY GIFT revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of FLYING NEKO (S Muniandy) and EXPLOSIVE FORCE revealed that both these horses returned broken-winded and as such, they will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again. FLYING NEKO returned having cast its off hind plate.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Jockey F Yap, the rider of MULTIBLUE TOSCA into that gelding’s poor performance today. He stated that the horse was taken wider on the jump and forced wide again at about the 800M and raced very greenly throughout the race. When he placed MULTIBLUE TOSCA under pressure in the final 300M, the gelding responded only fairly. His explanation was noted.

A post-race veterinary examination of MULTIBLUE TOSCA revealed no obvious abnormality.

After jumping with the field, FATKID WONDERER veered in abruptly and dislodged App CK Khaw. He was exempted from weighing-in and was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

Approaching the 600M, FATKID WONDERER, the riderless horse, shifted out, resulting in FLYING DARCI (D Chong) having to shift out wide to avoid it.

JOHNNY’S CAFÉ (S Sandana) raced wide from the 600M until entering the straight.

Racing to the 200M, the riderless FATKID WONDERER shifted in, resulting in Q NINE MAC (HS Gill) having to check and as a consequence, HERE COMES THUNDER (C Goon) had to be steadied to avoid FATKID WONDERER.

FATKID WONDERER is suspended from racing for a period of one (1) month and will be required to pass two (2) starting stall tests at weekly intervals after the one-month embargo.

Jockeys SU Lim, D Chong and S Anandan, the riders of GOOD VIBRATIONS, FLYING DARCI and COVER MAN respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of GOOD VIBRATIONS, FLYING DARCI and BLAZING STEED (CK Tan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of COVER MAN revealed that the gelding had returned broken-winded and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

GREAT SCOTT (CK Tan) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

The race was run in steady rain.

Shortly after the start, THE OMEGA MAN (G Pereira) had to be checked to avoid the heels of ROYAL GREEN (HS Gill).

LUCK SUCCESS (SU Lim) had to be steadied to avoid to heels of US DOLLAR (App AM Aizat) when racing to the 1200M.

Racing to the 200M, BALOTELLI (App S Saddam) laid out under the whip, tightening STREET TEASE (J Chuah) onto BLACK AND WHITE (S Sandana), which was taken wide. App S Saddam, the rider of BALOTELLI was shown the vision and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

All riders returned an average of 1.5kg over.

A post-race veterinary examination of LUCK SUCCESS revealed no obvious abnormality. As BALOTELLI was unable to be scoped by the Club Veterinary Surgeon, the gelding will be scoped at a later date and a veterinary report will follow.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Jockey M Yusri, the rider of DEPUTY LAW in the above race today, Sunday, 9th July 2017.

Jockey M Yusri explained that his instructions were to be midfield, but the gelding showed no early pace and got back in the race. He stated that he commenced to improve from the 600M until entering the straight. DEPUTY LAW laid out when ridden under the whip and failed to respond to his riding and finished the race off poorly. Jockey M Yusri was advised that he must ride all his mounts in a manner so as to leave no room for query.

The Panel of Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the riding of CLASSIC KING of the above race today, Sunday, 9th July 2017.

Trainer Peter Lee, the trainer of CLASSIC KING stated that his instructions were to lead or be handy. App CK Khaw, the rider of CLASSIC KING in the presence of his master Trainer R Lines, explained that he understood the instructions and in the jump, he was bumped. App CK Khaw was unable to keep his position when crossed by MR DREYFUSS (App AM Aizat) at about the 1100M and as a consequence, was unable to be more forward.

After considering all the evidence, the Panel of Stewards took no further action.

VALUE OF JUSTICE, MESSI and LUCK DRAGON, all course scratchings as they had sustained a bruised back, bruised off fore sole and sore back respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

WHISPERINTHEWIND which was up 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

AGUERO (S Sandana) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

Approaching the 1400M, RUSH (App A Zaimuddin) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of NANA (Y Aify).

Jockeys Y Aify and S Sandana, the rider of NANA and AGUERO respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of NANA and AGUERO revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of WHISPERINTHEWIND (App KC Wong) revealed that the gelding had returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 4 (R860) CLASS 5 – 1800m(sc) – AMERICAN SOLDIER II 1986 HANDICAP

PERFECT FIXER, a course scratching as it sustained cut and bruises on both its hind limbs, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Racing to the 1500M, SERPICO (TM Wan) rolled in, resulting in D’GREAT HAWK (G Pereira) shifting in slightly and bumped the hind quarters of BLOOD ROYAL (SU Lim).

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by Jockey SU Lim, the rider of BLOOD ROYAL placed second against FLEDGELING (App CK Khaw), being declared the winner on grounds of alleged interference over the final 50M. After considering all the evidence, the Panel of Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the Judges’ results stood.

App CK Khaw, the rider of FLEDGELING was shown the vision of the race in the presence of his master Trainer R Lines and was advised that he must stop and straighten his mount under similar circumstances in future.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, Trainer Wayne Lim requested to review the start of the race. As the Panel of Stewards established that the gate of D’GREAT HAWK was slow to open and was denied a fair start, it was declared a non-starter under MRA Rule 115. As such, all bets on D’GREAT HAWK were refunded.

Post-race veterinary examinations of TIME TO SHINE (App S Saddam) revealed no obvious abnormality and PISCES JET (C Goon) revealed that the gelding had returned lame off fore. As such, PISCES JET will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey C Goon, the rider of UNCLE GLORY and App KC Wong, the rider of HAPPY AMIGO both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of UNCLE GLORY and HAPPY AMIGO revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of DARK EXPRESS (S Sandana) and BUZZ MAN (App CK Khaw) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that UNCLE GLORY returned having cast its near fore plate.

As App WK Lee was dislodged at the parading enclosure and was injured. The Club Medical Officer certified that App WK Lee was unfit to ride. The Panel of Stewards permitted App AK Lim to replace him as the rider of ALWAYS D’GREAT.

D’GREAT EMPRESS (S Muniandy) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in ALWAYS D’GREAT (App AK Lim) being taken out and PURPLE RAIN LADY (App S Saddam) shifted out and resulted in MULTIBLUE EAGLE’s rider (J Chuah) becoming unbalanced and as a consequence, shifted out abruptly, losing ground.

MUSANG KING (D Chong) raced very greenly from the jump and racing to the 800M, threw its head up and shifted in, resulting in NAPOLEON (CK Tan) being checked and bumping CANDY SODA (TM Wan). MUSANG KING continued to race greenly and wide until entering the straight.

BOOSTER (App CK Khaw) raced wide from the 800m until entering the straight wide and finished wider on the track.

Racing to the 400M, BOOSTER dipped on two occasions.

Racing to the 150M, D’GREAT EMPRESS rolled in and bumped PURPLE RAIN LADY.

D’GREAT EMPRESS raced greenly over the final 100M and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ALWAYS D’GREAT at about the 50M.

Over the final 50M, PURPLE RAIN LADY and ALWAYS D’GREAT raced greenly, finishing wider on the track.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MUSANG KING, D’GREAT EMPRESS and NAPOLEON revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 7 (R863) CLASS 4 – 1200m (sc) – CAMBERLY 1982 HANDICAP

PEARL, a course scratching as it suffered an epiglottic entrapment, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

CLASSIC KING (App CK Khaw) and MR DREYFUSS (App AM Aizat) bumped on jumping away.

Racing to the 1100M, CLASSIC KING had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MR DREYFUSS.

Racing to the 800M, NOTHING TO LOSE (App KC Tham) which was racing tight, had to be checked and lost its position when avoiding the heels of YOU ARE GENIUS (App KC Wong) which shifted out.

SPIN FIRE (S Sandana) raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.

Post-race veterinary examinations of FLAMING FIREHEART (C Goon), NOTHING TO LOSE and JUST NAME IT (SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

After taking initial evidence from Trainer Peter Lee, the trainer of CLASSIC KING and App CK Khaw, the rider of CLASSIC KING in the presence of his master, Trainer R Lines, the Panel of Stewards will open an Inquiry into the riding of CLASSIC KING will be held at a date to be fixed.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Jockey C Goon and Trainer J Tan, the rider and the trainer of FLAMING FIREHEART as to the gelding’s poor performance today. Trainer J Tan explained that his instructions were to settle midfield. Jockey C Goon explained that in the early stages, he was caught wide on the gelding and rather than to come back and lose ground, he elected to go forward and let the gelding stride. He further stated that on straightening when placed under pressure, FLAMING FIREHEART failed to respond to his riding and was very disappointing in the finish.

Trainer J Tan explained that he considered that FLAMING FIREHEART ran its best race in Penang and may not be a good traveller. He also stated that the gelding was racing in a stronger race today. He could offer no further explanations. The Panel of Stewards noted his explanations. He was advised to report back to the Panel of Stewards, if he detects any abnormality with the gelding when it returns to the stable. He was reminded of his obligations under MRA Rule 117(3) regarding ‘in-and out running.

SELANGOR TURF CLUB – TUESDAY, 4th JULY 2017

On 4th July 2017, App AK Lim and App CK Khaw were both subjected to Urine Sample testings, however no prohibited substances were detected.

App KP Lim who was also directed by the Stewards to provide his Urine Sample, failed to be present for his urine sample collection, and is therefore stood down from riding in trackwork and races pending an inquiry which will be held at a date to be fixed.

On Wednesday, 5th July 2017, Trainer A Scott advised the Panel of Stewards that LISTEN had returned to the stables at Selangor Turf Club with swelling around its near side lower flank, an injury that the horse suffered in the race. The Perak Turf Club Veterinary Surgeon confirmed that he had observed the swelling after the race. The Panel of Stewards noted Trainer A Scott’s report and LISTEN will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Jockey Y Aify, the rider of LISTEN in the above race today, Saturday, 8th July 2017. Jockey Y Aify stated that his instructions were to be midfield and that LISTEN traveled well and on entering the straight, was taken wider when CAPTAIN JAZZ (J Low) shifted out. Jockey Y Aify further stated that due to LISTEN’s tendency to lay in in the straight, he elected not to race wide and shifted in. At the 250M and the 100M, he had to stop riding and straighten LISTEN as it laid in.

Jockey Y Aify further stated that LISTEN finished the race off well and is better-suited over longer distance. The Panel of Stewards noted his explanations and advised him that in future, he is to ride all his mounts in a manner to leave no room for query.
