RACE 1 (R1071) CLASS 5 – 1400m(lc) – HAN CHIN PET SOO HANDICAP

DUEL OF HONOUR, which was up 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

FAIRBORN (App WK Lee) was fractious in the barrier, turned its head to the left barrier and hit the partition when the gates were released, resulting in it being slow to begin and lost ground. The Panel of Stewards questioned App WK Lee, the rider of FAIRBORN who confirmed the Stewards’ observations.

CONQUISTADOR (F Yap) jumped away awkwardly.

PRETTY ABLE (D Chong) shifted out on jumping away and brushed CROWN TREASURE (M Yusri) which in turn, brushed THE PROFESSIONAL (App S Saddam).

The saddle on THE PROFESSIONAL slipped backwards during the running.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ANAK PENANG (Z Khairil), DUEL OF HONOUR (S Muniandy) and FAIRBORN revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of PRETTY ABLE revealed that the mare had returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

The Panel of Stewards conducted an Inquiry into the riding of PRETTY ABLE today. Evidence were taken from Jockey D Chong and Ms S Hamilton, the rider and the trainer of PRETTY ABLE respectively.

Jockey D Chong pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Panel of Stewards. The particulars of the charge are that he checked the horse unnecessarily on two occasions at the 900M and showed insufficient vigour until entering the straight.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey D Chong’s guilty plea, mitigating factors and his disciplinary record. Jockey D Chong was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months, with effect from Monday, 28th August 2017 and to expire on Wednesday, 27th December 2017, both dates inclusive. He was informed of his right of appeal (5.22pm).

RACE 2 (R1072) CLASS 5 –1400m(lc) – GUA TEMPURONG HANDICAP

ALFRAAJ (S Anandan) jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.

LEAP OF FAITH (CK Tan) and PRINCE ISLANDER (App S Saddam) were slow to begin.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer R Lines, the trainer of D’GREAT SWIFT into the gelding’s improved performance today. He stated that the gelding had been racing consistently prior to the last start. In his opinion, the addition of winkers today had contributed to the gelding’s improvement. His explanation was noted.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BUTCH CASSIDY (F Yap) and GREAT PRINCE (App KC Tham) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R1073) CLASS 4 – 1400m(lc) – BERUAS MUSEUM HANDICAP

NANA, a course scratching as it was tied up, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

ACIPENSER (D Chong) and JUST NAME IT (CK Tan) were slow into stride.

ADMEISTER (App AK Lim) rolled in and brushed EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC (C Goon) at the 900M, resulting in EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC being taken in and ANAK WARRIOR (S Anandan) having to check, losing its position.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App AK Lim, the rider of ADMEISTER in the presence of his master, Trainer Wayne Lim was found guilty to a charge for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that racing to the 600M, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC, resulting in the gelding having to check and lost ground.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration App AK Lim’s riding records and mitigating factors. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, with effect from Monday, 28th August 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 10th September 2017, both dates inclusive. He was informed of his right of appeal (5.50pm).

Post-race veterinary examinations of EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC and DAWN PROSPECT (F Yap) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC returned having cast its off hind plate.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey D Chong, the rider of ACIPENSER was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that ACIPENSER was given full opportunity of winning or of obtaining the best possible placing.

The particulars of the charge are:-

          1)  He failed to show sufficient purpose and vigour from the start, being in barrier 1;

         2)  He failed to improve from the 800M and until entering the straight when there was room and                       opportunities to do so;

         3)  He failed to show sufficient vigour in the straight until racing inside the 300M.

When deciding on a penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account Jockey D Chong’s riding records and mitigating factors. After considering the provision of MRA Rule 44(8) (a), Jockey D Chong was disqualified from riding in races for a period of one (1) year with immediate effect from Sunday, 27th August 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 26th August 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of right of appeal (6.55pm). His one year disqualification and the 4-months suspension imposed in Race 1 (PRETTY ABLE) will run concurrently.

RACE 4 (R1074) CLASS 5 – 1200m(sc) – BUKIT LARUT HILL HANDICAP

Acting on veterinary report that SILENT DREAMS (J Chuah) got cast in the barrier and sustained an injury, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of SILENT DREAMS at 3.37pm.

JETSTAR EAGLE (App KC Tham) stood when the gates were released and lost ground and thereafter, showed no early pace, despite being urged.

IKTO (App AK Lim) dropped his off side rein at the 300M.

Racing from the 150M, HANDSOME BOSS (TM Wan) shifted out to obtain a clear run and checked JOE (G Goon) and continued to shift out and checked JETSTAR EAGLE. At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey TM Wan, the rider of HANDSOME BOSS pleaded guilty to a charge for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he permitted his mount to shift out from the 150M when insufficiently clear, resulting in Joe having to check and thereafter, he continued to shift out and checked JETSTAR EAGLE which lost ground.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey TM Wan’s guilty plea and mitigating factors. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days, with effect from Monday, 28th August 2017 and to expire

on Saturday, 16th September 2017, both dates inclusive. He was informed of his right of appeal (4.30pm).

JETSTAR EAGLE shifted in approaching the winning post, inconveniencing HANDSOME BOSS.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer R Lines, the trainer of BUZZ MAN as to the improved performance today. He stated that BUZZ MAN was caught wide when being taken wide at its last start and he felt that the pace in this class of today’s race, suited the gelding. His explanation was noted.

Post-race veterinary examinations of JOE, JETSTAR EAGLE and MY SWALLOW (D Chong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R1075) CLASS 5 – 1200m (sc) – GAHARU TEA VALLEY GOPENG HANDICAP

BLAZING STEED (CK Tan) dipped on jumping away and shifted out and at the same time, FUMIO (SU Lim) shifted in, resulting in DON’T FORGET THIS (F Yap) being checked and lost its position.

A post-race veterinary examination of DON’T FORGET THIS which was impounded, revealed no obvious abnormality.

The state of track was upgraded to “Good” after the running of this race.

RACE 6 (R1076) INITIATION – 1200m(sc) – LATA ISKANDAR STAKES [WEIGHT-FOR-AGE]

Acting on veterinary report that NOBODY’S FOOL (App M Sathiaa) had dislodged its rider and ran a considerable distance, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of NOBODY’S FOOL at 4.34pm. The gelding will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

GLORY KID (WK Yan) and HUN YEANG SQUARE (J Chuah) raced greenly throughout the race.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GLORY KID revealed no obvious abnormality and HUN YEANG SQUARE returned broken-winded. As such, HUN YEANG SQUARE will be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

Stewards’ Report
PRTC Aug/Sept Meeting Saturday, 26th Aug 2017

The report dated 18th August 2017 (V17/086.1) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 65 coded urine and 69 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 31st July 2017, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected except for samples coded “11215” and “11241” which revealed the presence of “Theobromine” and “Boldenone” respectively. After decoding these sample numbers, it was established that the sample coded 11215 was reported to have been taken from the horse “MULTI WEALTH” which finished 1st in Race 5 (R951) on 29th July 2017 at the Penang Turf Club Sprint Trophy Meeting 2017 whilst sample No. “11241” was reported to have been taken from the horse “DEPUTY LAW” which finished unplaced in Race 8 (R954) on 29th July 2017 at the Penang Turf Club Sprint Trophy Meeting 2017.

In addition, Trainer S Hamilton, the trainer of “MULTI WEALTH” and Trainer PK Leong, the trainer of “DEPUTY LAW” were advised on 19th August 2017 and 21st August 2017 respectively of the contents of the analysis report and their attention drawn to MRA Rule 137(1)/MRA Regulation 46.1 & 46.2 regarding the Referee Samples. Trainers S Hamilton and PK Leong were also advised that “MULTI WEALTH” and “DEPUTY LAW” cannot be entered to race until cleared by the PNTC Stipendiary Stewards under MRA Rule 134(12).

An Inquiry into the above matter will be held at a date to be fixed. ………….

JOCKEY URINE SAMPLES:
29TH – 30TH JULY 2017
PENANG SPRINT TRO[PHY MEETING 2017
The report dated 11th August 2017 (V17/087) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 4 coded urine samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 31st July 2017, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No

prohibited substances were detected.

TUESDAY, 22 AUGUST 2017, SELANGOR TURF CLUB BARRIER TRIAL

DRAHMA which suffered a bleeding attack during the above Barrier Trial, collapsed and died. A post-mortem examination will be conducted on DRAHMA.

APPEAL BY JOCKEY RUZAINI BIN SUPIEN (S RUZAINI) AGAINST THE SUSPENSION OF 4 MONTHS AND FINE OF RM40,000/- FOR CONTRAVENTION OF MRA RULE 44(10) IMPOSED BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS IN CONNECTION WITH HIS RIDING OF RACEHORSE “ENCOSTA ZONE” IN RACE 9 (R900) BANDED 55 – 71 – 1800M (LONG COURSE A), SATURDAY, 15 JULY 2017, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JULY MEETING 2017

Jockey S Ruzaini who lodged an appeal against his suspension of 4 months and fine of RM40,000/- under MRA Rule 44(10), applied to withdraw his appeal on 20 August 2017.

After consideration, the Racing Stewards acceded to his application and his deposit was refunded. His suspension commenced on 21 August 2017 and to expire on 20 December 2017, both dates inclusive.

RACE 10 (R1053) CLASS 5 – 1400M (LONG COURSE A), SUNDAY, 20 AUGUST 2017, SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2017

POWERFUL FIGHTER (App KC Wong) stumbled at about 200M after the finish of the race resulting in App KC Wong becoming unbalanced and being dislodged. App KC Wong did not require medical attention on that day, however, upon returning to Ipoh on Monday, 21 August 2017, he subsequently obtained a follow up on medical examination.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App AM Aizat, the rider of SWAN SONG, in the presence of his Master, Trainer F Maynard, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(2) in that he failed to arrive on course within the prescribed time prior to his riding engagement. In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App AM Aizat’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous record and his submissions on penalty. He was fined RM250/-.

SATURDAY, 19 AUGUST 2017, SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2017

INQUIRY INTO A REPORT FROM THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB (SLTC) SECURITY MANAGER IN RELATION TO SENIOR TRACK RIDER (STR) H BUKHARI BEING IN A RESTRICTED AREA ON SATURDAY, 12 AUGUST 2017 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB

The Stewards, on 19 August 2017 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into a report from Mr Tony Yeoh, the SLTC Security Manager, in relation to the above matter and evidence was taken from STR H Bukhari.

STR H Bukhari pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 152(5)(b) for disobeying the order of an SLTC Official in that on 12 August 2017 at the Selangor Turf Club, he was in a restricted area and when advised that it was a restricted area, he returned to the area which was against the direction of the SLTC Security Manager.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration STR H Bukhari’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous record and his submissions on penalty. He was fined RM500/-.

The report dated 18th August 2017 (V17/089) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 24 coded urine and 24 sets of coded blood samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 5th August 2017 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

The report dated 18th August 2017 (V17/090) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 3 coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 5th August 2017 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

The clearing sample coded J-3640 provided by App CK Khaw, upon analysis had returned negative and as such, App CK Khaw is now cleared to ride trackwork (18/8/2017).

INQUIRY INTO THE POST-RACE URINE SAMPLES TAKEN FROM RACEHORSES “ELF’S DREAM” CODED “09102” AND “GOOD MUMMY” CODED “09079” IN RACE 5 (R741), CLASS 4 – 1300M, 2nd DAY, SATURDAY, 10th JUNE 2017, PENANG TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2017 AND BOTH SAMPLES CODED “09102”AND “09079” RETURNED POSITIVE TO “NAPROXEN”, A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE UNDER MRA RULES & REGULATIONS.

The Stipendiary Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the above matter today, Saturday, 26th August 2017 at the Perak Turf Club.

Further evidence were taken from Trainer Richard Lines, the trainer of ELF’S DREAM and GOOD MUMMY.

Trainer R Lines pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(13) and punishable under MRA Rule 134(7) in that he was the trainer and person responsible for presenting and accepting to run ELF’S DREAM, which finished 14th placing and GOOD MUMMY which finished 3rd in the above race and both their post-race urine samples horses samples, upon analysis returned positive to “Naproxen”, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules.

When deciding on a penalty, the Stewards took into account Trainer R Lines’s guilty plea,

mitigating factors and his previous record. RM5,000/- each (total fine of RM10,000/-). (12.40pm).

In addition, in terms of MRA Rule 134(11), ELF’S DREAM and GOOD MUMMY were disqualified from the above race and the results will be amended accordingly.

Perak Turf Club Official Race Trial – Tuesday, 22nd August 2017:

GOBI RANGER (R192) returned lame near fore during the above Official Race Trial and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

WHIRLWIND, a course scratching as it had sustained sore back, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

WE’RE THE WORLD (TM Wan) jumped away awkwardly outwards and bumped D’GREAT NIMBUS (G Pereira).

MULTIBLUE TOSCA (F Yap) jumped away awkwardly.

MULTIBLUE TOSCA rolled in racing to the 300M and as a result, Jockey F Yap had to stop riding and straighten the gelding.

D’GREAT NIMBUS raced greenly in the straight.

Over the concluding stages, GOLDEN EMPIRE (App M Sathiaa) raced greenly and laid out.

RACE 2 (R981) CLASS 4 –1200m(lc) – FRANGIPANI HANDICAP

CELERITAS which was up 22kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Racing to the 700M, DANE’S ANATOMY had to be checked when I’M A GENIUS (S Anandan) rolled in. Jockeys WK Yan and S Anandan were both shown the film of the race and the Panel of Stewards deem it as a racing incident and took no further action.

Post-race veterinary examinations of DANE’S ANATOMY, GOLD COAST CAPTAIN, I’M A GENIUS and LUCK DRAGON (F Yap) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R982) CLASS 4 – 1200m(lc) – BOUGAINVILLEA HANDICAP

BIG LIGHTNING, JOYFUL and GOLDEN DRAGON which are course scratching as they had sustained a bruised off fore sole, colic and a bruised near fore fetlock respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

HALO INSPIRE (L Sofhan) was slow to begin.

TIGER STRIPES (App KC Tham) jumped away awkwardly.

EYEOFTHETIGER (WK Yan) and GET THE LOTSKI (App M Sathiaa) bumped on jumping away and as a consequence, GET THE LOTSKI lost its position and at the same time, THE THINKER (C Goon) jumped in. As a result, IN FULL BLOOM (App KC Wong) and Q NINE MAX (Y Aify) were hampered.

SUPREME STAR (TM Wan) jumped away awkwardly and was difficult to settle in the early and middle stages of the race, throwing its head up on several occasions.

HALO INSPIRE was caught wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

SUPREME STAR laid in away from the whip at the 300M.

Post-race veterinary examinations of EYEOFTHETIGER, WELLINGTON HAMMER (SU Lim) and Q NINE MAX revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of TIGER STRIPES revealed that the gelding had returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that HALO INSPIRE had bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

RACE 4 (R983) ENRICH STAKES A – 1600m(lc) – BIRD OF PARADISE STAKES [SW]

ILUMINADO, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

TRIPLE ONE D’BEST which was down 54kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Acting on a veterinary report that TRIPLE ONE D’BEST (App S Saddam) was lame near fore, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal TRIPLE ONE D’BEST at 3.19pm. and as such, TRIPLE ONE D’BEST will be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of EN LAUDER (Y Aify) and ROYAL GREEN (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R984) CLASS 5 – 1400m (sc) – GERBERRA DAISIES HANDICAP

DEPUTY LAW, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Acting on the Starter’s report that ANAK PENANG had dislodged Jockey Z Khairil whilst in the stall and to prevent any further delay, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of ANAK PENANG at 4.03pm, as Jockey Z Khairil was feeling uncomfortable due to the fall. On returning back to the Jockeys Room, Jockey Z Khairil was subsequently examined by the Club Medical Officer who certified him fit to continue riding.

DUE HOME (App KC Wong), KING OF THE CREEK (App AM Aizat) and PRINCE ISLANDER (App S Saddam) were slow to begin.

Racing to the 1200M, KING OF THE CREEK had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GOOD GIFT (S Anandan).

The saddle on BUTCH CASSIDY (F Yap) slipped forward during the running.

BIG EGO (J Chuah) and BUTCH CASSIDY which both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

App AM Aizat, the rider of KING OF THE CREEK reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of KING OF THE CREEK revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BEAUTY ADMIRE (L Sofhan), BIG EGO (J Chuah), BUTCH CASSIDY and DUE HOME revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App S Saddam, the rider of PRINCE ISLANDER in the presence of his master, Trainer Evert Van Breukelen pleaded guilty to a charge for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that over the concluding stages, he dropped his off-side rein at about the 50M and approaching the finish, he again dropped his off-side rein, resulting in his mount shifting inward and checked BALBOA (HS Gill).

When deciding on the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration his riding record and mitigating factors. App S Saddam was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, effective from Sunday, 6th August 2017 and to expire on Saturday, 19th August 2017, both dates inclusive. He was informed of his Right of Appeal (5.12pm).

RACE 6 (R985) CLASS 5 – 1400m(sc) – RAFFLESIA HANDICAP

JACKWIN, a course scratching as it had sustained stone bruised to its near fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SOON I WILL which was down 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey Y Aify to replace Jockey L Sofhan as the rider of SOON I WILL who was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

SOON I WILL (Y Aify) and EMPIRE BAY (App KC Tham) hung out entering the home straight.

Post-race veterinary examinations of TWODOLLARMUPPET (SU Lim), FLY HIGH (App AK Lim) and STORM HERO (Z Khairil) revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of APROBACION (App KC Wong) revealed that the mare had returned lame near fore and as such, APROBACION will be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 7 (R986) CLASS 5 – 1000m (sc) – ORCHID HANDICAP

Whilst in the barrier, FIELD FORCE which was restless, reared and dislodged Jockey J Chuah. FIELD FORCE was taken out, examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

FUMIO (App KC Wong) and SUPER VICTORY (App AM Aizat) were checked shortly after the start when GREEN TRACER (WK Yan) shifted in and at the same time, MARINI WALTZ (App S Saddam) shifted out, resulting in FIELD FORCE being taken in onto EXPLOSIVE FORCE (App KC Tham). Shortly thereafter, GREEN TRACER shifted in and tightened FIELD FORCE (J Chuah) which lost its position.

Racing to the 900M, CENTURY WORLD (App A Zaimuddin) rolled in, resulting in HANDSOME BOSS (TM Wan) being taken in onto GREEN TRACER which tightened FIELD FORCE which had to steady and lost its position.

Post-race veterinary examinations of FIELD FORCE and EXPLOSIVE FORCE revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of GREEN TRACER revealed that the gelding had returned with respiratory distress and as such, GREEN TRACER will be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that YOU NEVER KNOW returned with a cut on its dorsal near fore pastern.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey WK Yan, the rider of GREEN TRACER pleaded guilty to a charge for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that racing to 800M, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of EXPLOSIVE FORCE, resulting in EXPLOSIVE FORCE being crowded for room and checked, forcing YOU NEVER KNOW (S Anandan) onto the heels of MARINI WALTZ.

When deciding on the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration his riding record and mitigating factors. Jockey WK Yan was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, effective from Sunday, 6th August 2017 and to expire on Saturday, 19th August 2017, both dates inclusive. He was informed of his Right of Appeal (6.00pm).

The Panel of Stewards adjourned an Inquiry into an incident at about the 700M as App M Sathiaa, the rider of CLASSIC KING had left the course. An Inquiry will be held on a date to be fixed.

RACE 8 (R987) CLASS 5 – 1000m(sc) – HIBISCUS HANDICAP

Q NINE MAC (HS Gill) and HEAVENLY GIFT (S Anandan) were slow to begin.

Q NINE MAC and NO MONEY NO TALK (App AK Lim) raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.

A post-race veterinary examination of LUCKY COIN (C Goon) revealed no obvious abnormality.

GENERAL REPORT

APPEAL BY JOCKEY J SHANKAR AGAINST THE SUSPENSION OF THREE (3) MONTHS IMPOSED BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS UNDER MRA RULE 44(10) IN CONNECTION WITH HIS RIDING AND HANDLING OF RACEHORSE “SMOOTHLY” IN RACE 6 (R714), CLASS 4 – 1100M, ON SATURDAY, 3RD JUNE 2017, 1ST DAY, PENANG TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2017

The Penang Turf Club Racing Stewards on Friday, 4th August 2017 heard the above Appeal and heard submissions from Jockey J Shankar and Mr. P Ravee, Counsel representing Jockey J Shankar. Evidence was also taken from Dr. Khor Li Li, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, PNTC.

After considering further submissions from Jockey J Shankar, Mr. P Ravee and the Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward and reviewing the video replays, Jockey J Shankar’s Appeal against the 3 months suspension was dismissed.

Furthermore, the Racing Stewards enhanced the penalty to a five (5) months’ suspension with immediate effect from Friday, 4th August 2017 and to expire on Wednesday, 3rd January 2018, both days inclusive. His deposit was forfeited.

On a separate, additional charge by the Racing Stewards, Jockey J Shankar pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct towards the Officials during the initial Inquiry and was fined RM2,000/- (Malaysia Ringgit Two Thousand) under MRA Rule 12(2)(f).

The Stipendiary Stewards today, Friday, 4th August 2017 opened an Inquiry into the above matter.

Evidence were taken from Trainer Richard Lines, the trainer of ELF’S DREAM and GOOD MUMMY, Dr. Reza Singam, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, Perak Turf Club and Ms. Chan Sue Hay, Analyst, USains Biomics Laboratory.

After considering submissions from Trainer R Lines, the Inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

INQUIRY INTO THE URINE SAMPLE PROVIDED BY APP CK KHAW WHO RODE IN RACE 3 (R836) ON SATURDAY, 1ST DAY, 1st JULY 2017, PERAK TURF CLUB JULY GOLD VASE MEETING 2017 AND HIS URINE SAMPLE CODED “J-3630” WAS FOUND POSITIVE TO “EPHEDRINE”, A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE UNDER MRA RULES & REGULATIONS.

The Panel of Stewards on Friday, 4th August 2017 concluded an Inquiry into a report from the Chief Analyst, USains Biomics Laboratory that jockey’s urine sample coded “J-3630” which was provided by App CK Khaw, was found positive to “Ephedrine”, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules & Regulations.

Evidence were taken from App CK Khaw in the presence of his master, Trainer R Lines, Ms. Chan Sue Hay, Analyst of USains Biomics Laboratory and Dr. Lam Yee Yoon, the Perak Turf Club Club Medical Officer.

App CK Khaw pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 136(3)(b) in that on the 1st July 2017, he provided his urine sample coded J-3630 which upon analysis, was found to contain “Ephedrine”, a prohibited substance under MRA Rules and Regulations. When deciding on the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration his guilty plea, clean record and mitigating factors.

App CK Khaw was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) months, from the day he was stood down, i.e. Friday, 21st July 2017 and to expire on Friday, 20th October 2017, both dates inclusive. He was informed of his Right of Appeal (5.10pm).

Jockey CK Tan (ALLIED MARINE) was dislodged whilst enroute to the barrier. ALLIED MARINE was apprehended shortly after, examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

Racing to the 1100M, SACRED KLASS (J Low) had to be steadied off the heels of HELLO SAYANG (App KC Wong), which rolled out and lost some ground.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GOLIATH (App T Krisna), SACRED KLASS and AVANTI (App S Saddam) revealed no obvious abnormality. SACRED KLASS was impounded.

The Stewards questioned Jockey J Low as to the poor performance of SACRED KLASS today. He stated that his instructions were to be handy, but because the gelding had no early speed, he settled midfield and when he tested with the whip, the gelding did not respond in the soft going and failed to respond to his riding. His explanation was noted.

GENERAL REPORT

PENANG DECEMBER YANG DI-PERTUA NEGERI GOLD CUP MEETING 2016 – 1st DAY, SATURDAY, 17th DECEMBER 2016
RACE 8 (R1564) – CLASS 5 – 1100M

The Stewards concluded an Inquiry today (Monday, 2nd January 2017) into the incident at the 350M. Evidence were taken from Jockey S Sandana, the rider of SHINING SUPREME and App CK Khaw, the rider of EYE FOUR GET in the presence of his master, Trainer R Lines.

After viewing all the films and hearing their evidence, it was established that SHINING SUPREME (S Sandana) had to be steadied racing to the 400M when getting onto the heels of EYE FOUR GET (App CK Khaw) and then shortly thereafter, EYE FOUR GET rolled out, resulting in SHINING SUPREME clipping that gelding’s heels, dislodging

Jockey S Sandana. The Stewards considered it to be a racing incident and as such, no further action was taken.

RACE 1 (R012) CLASS 5 – 1600m(lc) – TRACK HERALD HANDICAP

EMPEROR QIAN LONG, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer K Coetzee was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for presenting ENLIGHTEN KNIGHT (S Sandana) without shadow-roll as declared.

ENLIGHTEN KNIGHT jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.

POLO MASTER (F Yap) and JETSTAR EAGLE (KT Cheng) were slow to begin.

LUCK DRAGON (App SU Lim) shifted out at the 450M, taking JETSTAR EAGLE and JACKWIN (WK Yan) wider on the track.

ENLIGHTEN KNIGHT was disappointed for a run racing to the 100M between LUCK DRAGON and LEAP OF FAITH (CK Tan) when LUCK DRAGON shifted in and racing to the 50M, ENLIGHTEN KNIGHT had to be steadied and shifted out across the heels of LUCK DRAGON to obtain a clear run to the finish.

A post-race veterinary examination of IWA ANTILIA (App KC Wong) revealed that the gelding had returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Stewards questioned Jockey J Low, the rider of POWERFUL FIGHTER into that

gelding’s poor performance today. He stated that his instructions were to be mid-field

and that the gelding had raced well until entering the straight and when he commenced to

ride under the whip, the gelding failed to respond to his riding. In his opinion, the

gelding had not acted in the going. The Stewards noted his explanations. A post-race

veterinary examination of POWERFUL FIGHTER revealed no obvious abnormality.

The gelding was impounded.

MESSI, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off hind fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

JOYFUL (KT Cheng) and CARBON COPY (App S Saddam) bumped shortly after the start.

Post-race veterinary examinations of JOYFUL revealed no obvious abnormality. LIGHTNING THIEF (C Goon) which bled, will be barred from racing for a period of six

(6) months under MRA Rule 92(5)(a)&(b) as this is its second bleeding attack.

LIGHTNING THIEF will thereafter be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being

declared to race again.

RACE 3 (R014) CLASS 5 – 1400m(lc) – RACING RE-BOOT HANDICAP

BUKIT BINTANG (App S Saddam) jumped away awkwardly outwards and bumped LIGHTNING ROD (App M Sathiaa).

Passing the 300M, App S Saddam, the rider of BUKIT BINTANG got his rein entangled for a short distance.

Passing the 200M, BUKIT BINTANG commenced to shift in, resulting in PEGASUS GENIUS (M Yusri) shifting away from that gelding. BUKIT BINTANG continued to shift inwards approaching the finish and PEGASUS GENIUS had to be steadied and shifted out to obtain a clear run. App S Saddam, the rider of BUKIT BINTANG was shown the video of the incident in the presence of his master Trainer Evert Van Breukelen and was advised to exercise more care under similar circumstances.

App Z Khairil, the rider of TIME TO SHINE reported that his whip broke at about the 50M.

Post-race veterinary examinations of LIGHTNING ROD and GOLD COAST CAPTAIN (J Low) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 4 (R015) RESTRICTED MAIDEN – 1200m(sc) [3 YEAR OLDS ONLY] [WEIGHT-FOR-AGE]

GLORY KID (WK Yan) was slow to begin.

The Stewards questioned Jockey J De Souza, the rider of SUPER BOSS and he stated that on jumping away, SUPER BOSS veered out to the outside rail and did not feel comfortable and was difficult to control. As such, he eased the gelding out of the race. His explanation was noted. SUPER BOSS which veered out badly on jumping and thereafter, took no part in the race, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Passing the 150M, PORSENCE (App KC Wong) was held up when MULTIBLUE

RANCHO (App M Sathiaa) laid inward. Shortly thereafter, PORSENCE had to shift

out over the heels of MULTIBLUE RANCHO to obtain clear running, however,

PORSENCE laid inward under the whip over the concluding stages.

GLORY KID which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MULTIBLUE TOSCA (Lou Ho), GLORY KID and SUPER BOSS revealed no obvious abnormality.

WENONA’S LEGACY, a course scratching as it was lame on its near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

EMPIRE BAY (F Yap) was tightened at the start when CLASSIC ARROW (App M Sathiaa) shifted out and at the same time, MAYWEATHER (M Yusri) shifted in, resulting in EMPIRE BAY losing ground.

Racing to the 900M, EMPIRE BAY had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DUE HOME (J Low).

Post-race veterinary examinations of MAYWEATHER and DUE HOME revealed no obvious abnormality and CLASSIC ARROW which returned with respiratory distress, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

After further consideration and in consultation with the Starter, the test card of two (2) starting stall tests imposed on FIRST OPTION (App Z Khairil) was rescinded and replaced with one (1) starting stall test to be completed before FIRST OPTION is declared to race again.

Race 5 (R1587) – Enrich Stakes A – 1300m, William Inglis & Son Trophy – 25th December 2016

Subsequent post-race veterinary examination by PRTC Veterinary Surgeon on BIG LIGHTNING (App SU Lim) which ran in the above race, revealed that the gelding had sustained a cut on its near fore cannon. BIG LIGHTNING will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Renewal of license – Jockey TM Wan

Jockey TM Wan who will complete the suspension of his license on 16th January 2017 for a breach of MRA Rule 44(10), made an application for renewal of his license. His application for renewal of his license to ride in races was approved with effect from 16th January 2017 in accordance with MRA Rule 48(8)(b).

Veterinary Report: OKI OKI (N680) – trained by Mr. SJ Cook

The above horse has been under veterinary treatment for a severe stromal (corneal) abscess of its left eye. This injury has resulted in significant scar tissue forming in its cornea, which has rendered the horse functionally blind in that eye. On 1/12/2016, OKI OKI worked on the inside of another horse and was tractable and worked well. The gelding has been monitored in track work since this date and has performed satisfactorily. On 20/12/2016, OKI OKI passed an Official Barrier Test satisfactorily on the sand track. On 27/12/2016, OKI OKI also passed an Official Barrier Test satisfactorily on the grass track. The Stewards are satisfied that OKI OKI is clear to be declared and race with effect from 28th December 2016.

RACE 1 (R054) COSMO D – 1600m(lc) – HAPPINESS STAKES [SET WEIGHTS]

BEAUTY ADMIRE (App S Uzair) was tightened and lost ground when CARBON COPY (App S Saddam) jumped awkwardly outwards and GLORY AGE (App CK Khaw) jumped awkwardly inwards.

Post-race veterinary examinations of PISCES JET (J De Souza) and BEAUTY ADMIRE revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today, Jockey M Yusri, the rider of I’M A GENIUS pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding I’M A GENIUS, passing the 400M, he shifted outwards under the whip when insufficiently clear, resulting in PISCES JET having to check. Passing the 300M, I’M A GENIUS continued to shift outwards and crowded CARBON COPY. Passing the 100M, I’M A GENIUS continued to shift out, resulting in CARBON COPY being carried wider and bumped GLORY AGE over the concluding stages.

In deciding the penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey M Yusri’s guilty plea, disciplinary record and mitigating factors. Jockey M Yusri was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, with effect from Monday, 9th January 2017 and to expire on Saturday, 21st January 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (2.12pm).

Prior to declarations, the MRA Handicappers amended BERNI DANCER’s rating to 24 and its handicap weight to 55.0kg in accordance to MRA Rule of Racing 99.

HEAVENLY GIFT which was down 21kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

HEAVENLY GIFT (S Sandana) jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.

COSTNER (App KC Wong) shifted in on jumping away, inconveniencing BERNI DANCER (J Chuah).

The Stewards questioned Jockey J Chuah, the rider of BERNI DANCER into its poor performance today. He stated that he got a good jump and when placed under pressure, the mare failed to respond to his riding and failed to finish the race off in the normal manner. Trainer N Azman, the trainer of BERNI DANCER was unable to offer any tangible explanation as to the mare’s poor performance. Their explanations were noted. A post-race veterinary examination of BERNI DANCER revealed no obvious abnormality. BERNI DANCER was impounded.

Shortly after the start, SUPER BONUS (Lou Ho) shifted inward, resulting in JACKWIN (WK Yan) to lay inwards and having to check to avoid the heels of FLUTZ (S Sandana).

Racing to the 700M, GREAT GERONIMO (App KC Wong) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SUPER BONUS.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of TAGORE reported that his mount was not striding out freely and as a result, he did not ride it out in the normal manner. A post-race veterinary examination of TAGORE revealed that the gelding had returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey L Sofhan, the rider of HENNESSY DRAGON reported that his mount was not striding out freely.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GREAT GERONIMO, HENNESSY DRAGON and FLUTZ revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of JACKWIN revealed that the gelding had returned with respiratory distress and as such, JACKWIN will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that LITTLE BUT FIERCE (J Chuah) had bled and as such, the gelding will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)(b)&(c). LITTLE BUT FIERCE will thereafter be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

CHARLIE CAME ALONG (HK Cheng) cast its near fore plate in the parade ring and had to be re-shod.

FOREVER BEST (F Yap) was slow to begin.

ONE MORE ACHIEVER (S Sandana) jumped away awkwardly.

CHARLIE CAME ALONG made the first turn wide.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MAGICAL TEN (App KC Wong), MAYWEATHER (HS Gill), FOREVER BEST, MARINI WALTZ (L Sofhan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

App S Saddam, the rider of LIGHTNING ROD reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of LIGHTNING ROD revealed no obvious abnormality.

The going was upgraded to “yielding” after the running of this race.

Racing to the 50M, WINDCHASER (App CT Lee) was disappointed for a run between TILSWORTH MALI (Lou Ho) and MASTER OF SUCCESS (App S Saddam) and had to be switched out across the heels of TILSWORTH MALI to obtain a clear run.

Post-race veterinary examinations of AUGUSTA revealed that the gelding returned broken-winded and ENDURANCE (F Yap) revealed no obvious abnormality.

SOCOTRA showed no early pace despite being urged.

XAVIO (HK Cheng) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

BERCHAM shifted wide from the 500M and entered the straight wide.

BEYOND WEALTH which was up 16kgs, SMOOTHLY and ZHAN SHEN which were down 15kgs and 19kgs respectively in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

TILSWORTH FREDDIE dislodged Jockey Lou Ho enroute to the start, crashed onto the railing and ran back to the holding yard. The Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 5.28pm acting on a veterinary advice. TILSWORTH FREDDIE will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

After being loaded, THE THINKER (HK Cheng) and GOOD TASTE (KT Cheng) broke through their barriers, were apprehended and were examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.

AWAKENED (WK Yan) stood flat-footed when the gates were released and was slow to begin.

GOOD TASTE raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

Racing inside the 300M, AUDACIOUS (M Yusri) shifted out, resulting in BEYOND WEALTH (App KC Wong) having to be steadied and shift ground inwards to obtain a clear run. Jockey M Yusri, the rider of AUDACIOUS was shown the vision of the incident and was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances.

Jockey S Sandana, the rider of DANE’S ANATOMY reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of DANE’S ANATOMY revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey S Sandana, the rider of ZENIDIN was shown the vision of the incident and was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances in future.

AMI ELEVEN (J Low) over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race and was difficult to settle.

The saddle on PEGASUS GENIUS (M Yusri) slipped backwards during the running of the race.

SKY WALKER which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of PEGASUS GENIUS revealed that the gelding had returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

BAHAR (S Sandana) which was racing fiercely, raced onto the heels of MULTIBLUE SHARK at about the 1000M and had to be steadied.

Passing the 800M, MULTIBLUE SHARK had to steady and lost ground when JABBAR rolled inwards, resulting in BAHAR, which was following, having to check and his saddle slipping to the off side, placing its rider at a disadvantage and losing ground.

WHIRLWIND (L Sofhan) which was following, had to switch to the outside, to avoid the heels of BAHAR and raced wide until entering the straight. The Stewards were unable to attribute any blame to any rider and no further action was taken.

PORSENCE (HS Gill) was trapped wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

PORSENCE laid in and continued to race very greenly to the finish of the race.

GLORY KID (App M Sathiaa) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of SUPER BOSS revealed that the gelding had returned lame near hind and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Perak Turf Club Panel of Racing Stewards heard the above appeal on Friday, 10th February 2017.

After considering submissions from Jockey Y Aify, his Counsel and the Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward and reviewing all angles of the race, the Racing Stewards reduced the suspension of six (6) months to three (3) months and his fine of RM10,000/- was set aside. Jockey Y Aify’s suspension will take immediate effect, i.e. from Friday, 10th

February 2017 and to expire on Tuesday, 9th May 2017, both dates inclusive. His deposit was forfeited.

Approaching the winning post, MONEY NOT ENOUGH shied away from the shadow of the winning post, unbalancing App CT Lee momentarily.

A post-race veterinary examination of GREEN TRACER revealed that the gelding had returned broken-winded and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of EASY AHEAD, ZAC GALLANT and HAPPY AMIGO (J De Souza) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards questioned Trainer Bonny Ng, the trainer of GREEN TRACER and he stated that today’s instruction was to hold the gelding up, so that it would finish the race off, as it had not been doing so when it had led. The Stewards noted his explanations and will question Jockey HK Cheng who had left the course, at a date to be fixed.

At about the 100M, PERFECT RUN (App T Krisna) which was racing greenly, shifted inwards for a run.

Passing the 100M, BEYOND WEALTH (App KC Wong) collapsed and died on the track. A post-mortem will be conducted. App KC Wong was exempted from weighing-in and was stood down by the Club Medical Officer for the remainder of the day.

Jockey TM Wan, L Sofhan and App S Rosmizan, the riders of TILSWORTH FREDDIE, BERCHAM and TAWQEET respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of TILSWORTH FREDDIE, BERCHAM and TAWQEET revealed no obvious abnormality.

YOU ARE GENIUS which was up 15kgs and ALFRAAJ which was down 15kgs in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

AMAZING (SS Vanan) reared when the start was affected and lost ground. Trainer Evert Van Breukelen, representing Trainer PS Kumaran was informed that a warning was placed on the gelding to improve its barrier manners, failing which action may be taken. A post-race veterinary examination of AMAZING revealed no obvious abnormality.

DROUGHT(App S Rosmizan) was disappointed for a run from the 500M until the 100M when shifting to the outside of WAR LORD (App M Sathiaa) and FATKID WONDERER (J Low) to obtain clear running.

App AM Aizat, the rider of SAND LANE and App AK Lim, the rider of JOYFUL both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of SAND LANE and JOYFUL revealed no obvious abnormality.

App S Uzair, the rider of BIRRALEE ROAD reported that his mount was making respiratory noises in the race. A post-race veterinary examination of BIRRALEE ROAD revealed no obvious abnormality.

PRINCE NANO which dislodged App AK Lim at the saddling enclosure, was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

RACING MAN (App S Saddam) and SILENT DREAMS (App J Daniel) bumped on jumping away.

FOREVER BEST (M Yusri) was slow into stride.

Racing to the 1100M, ONE MORE ACHIEVER (S Sandana) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DUBLEO BEAUTY (App AM Aizat) and rolled in, tightening SILENT DREAMS onto RACING MAN which was forced in onto BULL AND BEAR (App CK Khaw), making contact. Shortly thereafter, they continued to race tight and RACING MAN was buffeted and lost its position.

Passing the 900M, RACING MAN had to steady when SILENT DREAMS rolled in and BULL AND BEAR rolled out.

At about the 400M, DUBLEO BEAUTY shifted inwards to obtain a clear run.

App J Daniel, the rider of SILENT DREAMS reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of SILENT DREAMS revealed that the gelding had returned lame near fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of FOREVER BEST, BULL AND BEAR and SMALL TIGER (J Low) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by Jockey S Sandana, the rider of ONE MORE ACHIEVER, placed 2nd against PRINCE NANO (App AK Lim), being declared the winner on grounds of alleged interference from the 150M.

After considering all the evidence and reviewing the vision of the race, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference did materially affect the result of the race. The objection was upheld and the Judges’ placings were amended as follows:-

After arriving at the barrier, Jockey S Sandana was dislodged from SUPER CROWN, when the bridle broke and had to be re-placed. Acting on the Starter’s report that SUPER CROWN was difficult to be boxed, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of SUPER CROWN at 3.27pm and the gelding will be required to pass a starting stall test before being declared to race again.

WHISPERINTHEWIND (App J Daniel) broke through the gates and was re-captured, examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

Due to the broken barrier number 8, the Starters adjusted the barrier of JOYFUL (App AK Lim) from barrier 7 to barrier 6 and WHISPERINTHEWIND from barrier 8 to barrier 7.

SOCOTRA (M Yusri) jumped away awkwardly and veered outwards at the start and lost ground.

WHISPERINTHEWIND jumped away awkwardly and threw its head about shortly after the start.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of CARBON COPY reported that his mount was not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of CARBON COPY and ALLIED MARINE revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards questioned Jockey HS Gill, the rider of CARBON COPY and Trainer K Coetzee, the Trainer of CARBON COPY regarding that gelding’s poor performance. Jockey HS Gill stated that CARBON COPY had begun well, but showed no early pace, despite being urged. CARBON COPY failed to respond to his riding and when placed under pressure in the straight and was disappointing. Trainer K Coetzee explained that CARBON COPY had been working well and was expecting a good run from the gelding today. He is unable to offer any tangible explanations for the gelding’s poor performance today. Trainer K Coetzee was advised to report back to the Stewards if he finds anything amiss with CARBON COPY during the week. CARBON COPY was impounded.

CARBON COPY and SOCOTRA which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

ASTRO CHEVALIER and BLIXEM, both course scratching as they had sustained a swollen near fore tendon and bruised near fore sole respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

WHIRLWIND dislodged App M Sathiaa whilst enroute to the barriers and ran a considerable distance. Acting on veterinary advice that the stirrup bar on the saddle of WHIRLWIND was broken and to avoid further delay, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 3.53pm.

WAWA MASTER (Lou Ho) jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, GOLD COAST CAPTAIN (App AK Lim) was tightened for room when it lost its position when WAWA MASTER shifted in and AUGUSTA (App T Krisna) shifted out, resulting in AUGUSTA and WAWA MASTER bumping.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by App Z Khairil, the rider of ANAK PENANG, placed 2nd against MASTER OF SUCCESS (App S Saddam), being declared the winner on grounds of alleged interference from the 200M.

After considering all the evidence and reviewing the vision of the race, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference did materially affect the result of the race. The objection was upheld and the Judges’ placings were amended as follows:-

App S Saddam, the rider of MASTER OF SUCCESS was shown the vision of the race in the presence of his master, Trainer Evert Van Breukelen. At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App S Saddam pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that at about the 200M, he permitted his mount to shift inwards and bumped ANAK PENANG (App Z Khairil) inwards on two occasions till the winning post.

After careful deliberation, the Stewards suspended App S Saddam’s licence to ride in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, effective tomorrow, Monday, 20th February 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 26th February 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (4.43pm).

Post-race veterinary examinations of BUTCH CASSIDY (S Sandana) and COSTNER (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of RANGITAIKI was shown the vision of the race when the gelding shifted out under pressure and he was advised to stop and straighten his mount under similar circumstances in future.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App M Sathiaa, the rider of SATELLITE GENIUS in the presence of his master, Trainer S Cook, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that at about the 100M, he shifted inwards, taking the running of BUKIT BINTANG (J Low) which had to check and change course outwards to obtain a clear run.

After deliberation, the Stewards suspended App M Sathiaa’s licence to ride in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days to commence tomorrow, Monday, 20th February 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 26th February 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (4.57pm).

The race was run in light rain.

OUR TOUCHE (App Z Khairil) stood when the gates were released and lost ground. Trainer S Hamilton was informed that a warning has been placed on the gelding that should it be slow to begin in future, action may be taken.

Shortly after the start, RUSH (M Ganeesh) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SACRED CITY (SS Vanan).

Racing to the 1100M, SACRED CITY was bumped on several occasions and became unbalanced by CLASSIC ARROW (App J Daniel) which was tightened by OKI OKI (Lou Ho).

Passing the 700M, OKI OKI had to be steadied when racing tight on the inside of NOTHING TO LOSE (J Low) and brushed CLASSIC ARROW on several occasions.

OUR TOUCHE raced wide from the 600M until entering the straight.

RUFFLE THE RUFFIAN, a course scratching as it had sustained corneal ulcer of will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

FOURVIERE which was down 33kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

LUCK ALOT (S Thai Yang) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

FOURVIERE (App S Saddam) dipped on jumping away and shortly after the start, dipped again.

AWAKENED (M Ganeesh) was slow to begin.

Racing to the 1100M, D’GREAT RICH (J Low) shifted in, resulting in FOURVIERE being taken in and causing KAISER (Lou Ho) to be steadied and lost its position. Jockey J Low was shown the vision of the incident and warned to exercise greater care under similar circumstances in future.

Racing to the 800M, GOOD TASTE (KT Cheng) had to be checked to avoid the heels of FOURVIERE and shifted wider, causing AWAKENED and WAR LORD (App KC Wong) to race widre until entering the straight.

Post-race veterinary examinations of WAR LORD, KAISER, LUCK ALOT and BLACK RAIN (F Yap) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that FOURVIERE returned having cast both hind plates.

After reviewing all angles of the vision of the race, their explanations were noted, however, App J Daniel was advised that he must ride all his mounts out in a manner so as to leave no room for query.

The Stewards found Jockey HK Cheng guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge are that:

1) After securing a favourable position at the 800M, he unnecessarily restrained GREEN TRACER and lost ground;

2) From the 600M to the 350M, he continued to restrain GREEN TRACER when it was unnecessary for him to do so.

In deciding the penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey HK Cheng’s disciplinary record and mitigating factors. Jockey HK Cheng was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months, with effect from Monday, 20th February 2017 and to expire on Monday, 19th June 2017, both dates inclusive. In addition, he was also fined the sum of RM20,000/- He was advised of his right of appeal. (12.10pm)

Trainer Bonny Ng was advised to inform the Stewards if there is a significant change in the riding tactics adopted in accordance with MRA Rule 35(8), failing which, action may be taken against him in future.

Jockey HK Cheng subsequently exercised his right of appeal for a stay of sentence. The Stewards after careful consideration, granted him the stay of sente nce. The appeal will be heard on a date to be fixed.

PROPITIONS GOLD (HK Cheng) was slow into stride and shortly after had to steady when PHILIP (F Yap) shifted out and THE PROFESSIONAL (S Thai Yang) shifted in. Thereafter, PROPITIONS GOLD raced very ungenerously and threw its head up on several occasions. Jockey HK Cheng confirmed that the gelding was very difficult to settle and raced ungenerously, clipping heels on several occasions, obliging him to shift out at about the 1000M for clear running.

GOLD COAST CAPTAIN (J Low) shifted in slightly passing the 1300M, resulting in PHILIP being tightened for room, and was carried inwards onto FIRE GENERAL (M Yusri) which was hampered.

TAVAN BOGD (App KC Wong) had to be steadied at the 300M when PROPITIONS GOLD which was weakening, shifted in away from the whip.

CHINESE STREET (S Sandana) shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

He explained that COCONUT settled back in the field as usual and traveled well until entering the straight and when put under pressure at the 400M, failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing in the finish. COMMON SENSE, a course scratching as it had respiratory allergy, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The Stewards permitted App KC Wong to replace App M Sathiaa as the rider of FINANCIAL WIZARD as the latter was unable to make the carded weight. App M Sathiaa, in the presence of his master, Trainer S Cook was warned that a repetition may lead to a penalty being imposed in future.

CHERISH (J Low) broke through its gate and ran a considerable distance. Acting on veterinary advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 3.49pm. CHERISH will be required to re-qualify in an official race trial before being declared to race again.

Heavy rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.

FINANCIAL WIZARD (App KC Wong) raced greenly and hung inwards from the 300M until over the 100M.

SECOND CHANCE (S Anandan) raced greenly and weakened over the concluding stages.

App SU Lim, the rider of SUPER BOSS reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of SUPER BOSS revealed no obvious abnormality.

All riders returned an average of 1.5kgs over.

The Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the above matter on Friday, 7th April 2017 at the Perak Turf Club.

Evidence were taken from App S Zulfikri, the rider of BLACK RAIN in the presence of his master, Trainer PS Kumaran and Trainer Bonny Ng, the Trainer of BLACK RAIN.

App S Zulfikri, in the presence of his master, Trainer PS Kumaran pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards, in that from the 900M, he failed to ride the gelding with sufficient vigour and determination to the end of the race.

In deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App S Zulfikri’s guilty plea, disciplinary record and mitigating factors. App S Zulfikri was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months with immediate effect from Friday, 7th April 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 6th August 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (4.30pm).

No prohibited substances were detected, except for sample coded “J-6186” which upon analysis, was tested positive to “Ephedrine”, a prohibited substance.

Upon decoding, it was noted that sample coded “J-6186” was provided by Jockey J De Souza. Jockey J De Souza was notified of the finding from USains Biomics Laboratory (verbally) by 6.00 pm on Wednesday, 5th April 2017.

Under MRA Rule 136(3), Jockey J De Souza is stood down from riding in races and riding trackwork, barrier trial and tests with immediate effect pending an Inquiry being conducted at a date to be fixed.

The Selangor Turf Club Panel of Racing Stewards heard the above appeal on 5 April 2017.

After considering submissions from App KC Tham, in the presence of his Master, Trainer BT Lim and the Chief Stipendiary Steward, the Panel amended the charge to MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The Racing Stewards suspended App KC Tham from riding in races for a period of 3 months with immediate effect from 5 April 2017 and to expire on 4 July 2017, both dates inclusive, to be served concurrently with his current suspension. His deposit will be refunded.

As the decision of the Main Appeal has been decided, the question regarding his appeal against the Stipendiary Stewards’ decision of not granting him a Stay of Sentence did not arise. His appeal deposit will be refunded.

RACE 1 (R462) CLASS 4 – 1600m(lc) – FIREBRAND – 1974 HANDICAP

ENLIGHTEN KNIGHT (S Sandana) jumped away awkwardly and threw its head up.

Passing the 500M, the whip of Jockey M Yusri, the rider of CARBON COPY broke and he was unable to use it in the normal manner. Passing the 300M, when the broken whip was of no effect, he discarded it.

KUANTAN HILL (App KC Wong) rolled in at the 350M, resulting in DROUGHT having to be steadied and shift out across the heels of KUANTAN HILL for clear running.

Jockey CK Tan, the rider of SOCOTRA reported that his mount raced ungenerously. A post-race veterinary examination of SOCOTRA revealed no obvious abnormality.

App M Sathiaa and Jockey S Sandana, the riders of BERCHAM and ENLIGHTEN KNIGHT respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of BERCHAM and ENLIGHTEN KNIGHT revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of LORD OF SHANGHAI (L Sofhan) and PISCES JET (D Chong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R463) COSMO C – 1200m(lc) – JOCKEY CLUB OF TURKEY TROPHY [SET-WEIGHTS]

IMMORTALITY, a course scratching as it was lame near fore, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

BIG LIGHTNING, which had respiratory allergy and OKI OKI which had sustained a bruised near fore cannon, are both course scratching and will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MAGICAL TALENT (F Yap) was slow into stride.

Passing the 1000M, FIELD FORCE (J Low) brushed IDEAL GUIDE (T Krisna) which was taken in, causing MAGICAL TALENT, MESSI (App S Saddam) and BEAUTIFUL BABY (App SU Lim) to be crowded for room. Jockey J Low, the rider of FIELD FORCE was shown the vision of the race and was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Racing to the 800M, MESSI rolled in and as a result, BEAUTIFUL BABY had to be steadied, brushed the rail and lost ground.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MAGICAL TALENT revealed that the gelding had returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again and BEAUTIFUL BABY revealed no obvious abnormality.

GLORY AGE, which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

MR PAULANDRE (S Salee) jumped away awkwardly and stumbled.

Post-race veterinary examinations of STAR QUALIFY (App J Daniel), JUSTICE WORLD (App KC Wong), ROYAL GREEN (HS Gill), MR PAULANDRE and FLIGHT OFTHE SAKER (App AM Aizat) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards acceded to Trainer Evert Van Breukelen’s request to remove the use of blinkers on AUDACIOUS (M Yusri) due to soft track condition.

THE THINKER (S Sandana) reared and stumbled on jumping.

Racing to the 700M, WAR LORD (App M Sathiaa) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of NEVERUNCONDITIONAL (App J Daniel).

Jockey F Yap, the rider of HEART’S CHOICE reported that his mount could not handled the soft track condition. A post-race veterinary examination of HEART’S CHOICE revealed no obvious abnormality.

All riders returned an average of 0.5kgs over.

A post-race veterinary examination of MEGUSTO (J Low) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that THE THINKER bled and as such, will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a Bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

Under the Perak Turf Club Official Programme Clause 3(f), Trainer A Scott was fined RM150/- and will be required to pay the full entry fees. In addition, she will also have to reimburse the Club for all expenses incurred.

CELERITAS, a course scratching as it had sustained a cut near fore pastern, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SMOOTHLY, which was up 19kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The Stewards acceded to Trainer Evert Van Breukelen’s request to remove the use of blinkers on ARCHEW (App S Saddam) due to soft track condition.

Steady rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.

Jockey D Chong, the rider of RUSSELL THE CROWE reported that he was unable to ride his mount out over the final 100M due to the poor visibility. His explanation was noted.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GADAWON (App S Rosmizan) and RUSSELL THE CROWE revealed no obvious abnormality.

All riders returned an average of 0.5kgs over.

After the running of this race, a delegation of Trainers and Jockeys expressed their concerns to the Racing Stewards regarding the visibility. After consideration, the Racing Stewards decided to run Race 6.

RACE 6 (R467) CLASS 5 – 1100m(str) – TIEN AN MUN – 1975 HANDICAP

GOLDEN DRAGON, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore suspensory ligament, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The race was re-scheduled to start at 4.25pm.

The Racing Stewards permitted Jockey SS Vanan to replace Jockey D Chong as the rider of SALAHADDIN when the latter was relieved of his ride.

Steady rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.

Jockeys J Low and SS Vanan, the riders of FATKID WONDERER and SALAHADDIN respectively, reported that their mounts could not handle the soft track condition. A post-race veterinary examination of FATKID WONDERER revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of GOLDEN SAND (WK Yan) revealed that the mare had returned with respiratory distress and as such, GOLDEN SAND will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

All riders returned an average of 1.5kgs over.

After the running of this race, the Racing Stewards called the Jockeys who rode in this race for their opinion on the visibility and the condition of the track. After considering the Jockeys’ opinion and on their own observations, the Racing Stewards decided to abandon Races 7 and 8 at 4.35pm.

GENERAL REPORT

RACE 7 (R363) – CLASS 5 – 1200M, 3rd DAY, SATURDAY, 18th MARCH 2017 PENANG TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2017.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today, Sunday, 9th April 2017 which was adjourned from Penang Turf Club, App SU Lim, the rider of JUST NAME IT, in the presence of his acting master, Trainer Evert Van Breukelen, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that over the final 100M, he permitted his mount to shift in, making contact with DELTA WING (Lou Ho), which eventually had its running taken.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App SU Lim’s guilty plea and mitigating factors. App SU Lim was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) race days, effective from tomorrow, Monday, 10th April 2017 and to expire on Saturday, 22nd April 2017, both dates inclusive. App SU Lim’s request for deferment under MRA Rule 48(5) was denied and he was advised of his right of appeal (1.20pm).

RACE 3 (R456) CLASS 5 – 1600m(lc) – LITTLE PAPA – 1956 HANDICAP PERAK APRIL DERBY MEETING 2017, 1ST DAY, SATURDAY, 8 APRIL 2017

The Stewards today, 9th April 2017 continued the Inquiry into the performance of

COCONUT, trained by Trainer C Robert. Evidence was taken from Trainer C Robert

and after reviewing all the films, the Stewards noted his explanation and no further action

was taken.
