RACE 1 (R698) CLASS 5 – 1200m(lc) – AMERICAN SOLDIER II 1986 HANDICAP

OVER LIMITS (App AK Lim) was slow to begin.

DELTA WING (App KC Wong) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

Jockey S Sandana, the rider of CLASSIC KING reported that his mount was not striding out freely.

A post-race veterinary examination of OVER LIMITS revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that DELTA WING and METEOR GARDEN (App L De Souza) returned having cast their near hind and near fore plates respectively.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Jockey S Sandana and Trainer K Coetzee, the rider and the trainer of CLASSIC KING respectively. Jockey S Sandana stated that the gelding jumped away awkwardly, got its head up, shifted out and bumped JANGO (S Anandan) which laid in. He further stated that as a result of this incident, he was unable to carry out the instructions, which is to be forward. Then racing to the 1000M, TAKE A BOW (App W Faizal) laid out and raced ungenerously, losing ground, resulting in CLASSIC KING again having to be steadied. Jockey S Sandana further stated CLASSIC KING responded fairly to his riding under the whip in the straight. Trainer K Coetzee confirmed the instructions and agreed that if the gelding did not get a good jump, he would been placed further back than anticipated. Their explanations were noted. Trainer K Coetzee was advised that if he detects any abnormality with CLASSIC KING during the week, he would be expected to report back to the Panel of Stewards. A post-race veterinary examination of CLASSIC KING revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R699) CLASS 5 – 1200m(lc) – COURT OF HONOUR 1985 HANDICAP

As App WK Lee was indisposed, the Panel of Stewards permitted App J Daniel to replace him as the rider of MUSANG KING.

MULTIBLUE TOSCA (App P Mogun) had to be checked to avoid the heels of GOLD KIDS (M Ganeesh) which was racing greenly at the 900M.

App J Daniel, the rider of MUSANG KING reported that his mount was not striding out freely.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MUSANG KING, MULTIBLUE TOSCA, GOLD KIDS and LOYALTY’S ANGEL (R Rueven) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SPARKLER (App KC Wong) returned with a cut to its near hind and as such, the gelding will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The Panel of Stewards questioned App AM Aizat, the rider of NOVA SPIRIT in the presence of his master, Trainer F Maynard as to why he continued to use his whip in his left hand when the gelding commenced to shift out badly from about the 200M. Evidence was also taken from Trainer SB Tan, the trainer of NOVA SPIRIT, who stated that App AM Aizat should have stopped riding and straightened his mount earlier rather than continue to apply his whip and let the gelding to lay outwards and finished the race wider on the track. The Panel of Stewards after reviewing the video and taking all evidence into consideration, advised App AM Aizat that he should have stopped riding and straighten his mount under similar circumstance in future, failing which action will be taken against him.

The going has been upgraded to “Yielding” after the running of this race.

RACE 3 (R700) HEAT 2 – 1200m(lc) – MALAYSIA 3-YEAR OLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 [3 YEAR OLDS ONLY] [SET-WEIGHTS]

STEP BY STEP, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

RA FORCE (F Yap) reared when the gates were released and was slow into stride.

SING DARCI (S Anandan) was slow to begin.

RA FORCE had to be steadied racing to the 1000M when FOR FUN ONLY (App KC Wong) rolled out.

RA FORCE raced greenly at the 800M and lost ground.

MAXWIN (SU Lim) which was weakening, dipped at the 250M.

Jockey SU Lim, the rider of MAXWIN was dislodged on pulling-up after the winning post. The Club Medical Officer certified Jockey SU Lim was fit to continue riding for the day.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SIX EMPIRE (M Ganeesh), RA FORCE and MAXWIN revealed no obvious abnormality.

TRIPLE COIN, a course scratching as it had skin allergy, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

JETSTAR EAGLE (App AK Lim) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

BIRRALEE ROAD (HS Gill) drifted out racing to the 100M, resulting in AUSPICIOUS STAR (CK Tan) being taken out and as a consequence, JETSTAR EAGLE which was following, clipped the heels of AUSPICIOUS STAR and dipped.

Post-race veterinary examinations of HEAVENLY GIFT (Z Kharil), LIKA TIGER (J Low), RED SAPPHIRE (J De Souza) and RANT AND RAVE (Y Aify) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Emergency acceptor SUN PIONEER was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

VERBAL LINK (App S Rosmizan) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.

WOW (App W Faizal) and D’GREAT CONQUEROR (Y Aify) bumped shortly after the start.

TRUSON (F Yap) had to be steadied racing to the 900M when BACH’S AIR (S Salee) rolled out away from LISTEN (C Goon).

Jockey M Ganeesh, the rider of AUD DOLLAR was fined RM250.00 under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for dropping his whip at about the 300M.

Post-race veterinary examinations of TRUSON, TIDAL WAVE (J Mallyon), JC QUEEN (SU Lim), WOW, BACH’S AIR and PISCES STAR (App CK Khaw) revealed no obvious abnormality.

ZAC BENEVOLENT, a course scratching as it had respiratory allergy, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Emergency acceptors BLOOD ROYAL and ORION were withdrawn due to a capacity field.

TAUBOSS which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SUNNY (SU Lim), HALO INSPIRE (M Yusri), KARIGARA (App L De Souza) and SO ON (App W Faizal) were all slow to begin.

ONFLEEK (J Low) jumped away awkwardly.

SUNNY raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

TAUBOSS (App S Saddam) raced wide from the 600M and entered the straight wide.

SUNNY which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

App L De Souza, the rider of KARIGARA reported that his mount could not handle the going today.

Post-race veterinary examinations of TARZAN (Y Aify), BAHAR (Z Khairil), HALO INSPIRE, I AM MIDAS (App J Daniel), IKING (R Rueven) and ONFLEEK revealed no obvious abnormality.

As App WK Lee was indisposed, the Panel of Stewards permitted App AK Lim to replace him as the rider of WINNING TANGO.

BIG BOSS which was down 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

NOTHING TO LOSE (J Low) which stood when the gates were released and lost considerable ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

LITTLEBITOFJOY (App S Hafis) and BRILLIANT DEAL (A Aucharuz) were both slow to begin.

Post-race veterinary examinations of PANDA BOMB (SU Lim), NOTHING TO LOSE and WINNING TANGO (App AK Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 8 (R705) ENRICH STAKES A (SW) – 1200m (sc) – THE MIGHTY ONE 1980 STAKES

SUN PIONEER which was up 23kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

GOLDEN BRILLIANT (App R Ruwaidy) which stood when the gates were released and shortly after ducked out sharply, dislodging its rider, will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again. App R Ruwaidy, the rider of GOLDEN BRILLIANT was exempted from weighing-in. The Club Medical Officer certified App R Ruwaidy is fit to continue riding for the day.

LUKE MAN (Lou Ho) jumped away awkwardly, threw its head about and over-raced in the early stages of the race.

HAPPY SIXTYSIX (S Anandan) was slow to begin and showed no early pace.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BLACK AND WHITE (Z Khairil), GOLDEN BRILLIANT, PALTROW (App AM Aizat) and LUKE MAN revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of SUN PIONEER (J Low) revealed that the gelding had returned lame near fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer PS Kumaran, the trainer of THESE STREETS into its apparent improved performance today. He stated that THESE STREETS was severely hampered at its last start on the 22^nd of April 2018 and that the gelding had been working well and from a good barrier, expected the gelding ran a good race today. His explanation was noted.

RACE 9 (R706) CLASS 5 – 1200m (sc) – FERROUS CARDIO 1987 HANDICAP

VICTORY MARCH, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Acting on a report from the Starter that WHO’S THE BOSS (CK Tan) was difficult and was unable to be loaded, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of WHO’S THE BOSS at 5.31pm. The gelding will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

MYSTIC WARRIOR (App I Firdzriel) jumped away awkwardly, threw its head up and was difficult to settle in the early stages.

LONESOME ME (App S Saddam) and BUTCH CASSIDY (App KC Wong) were both slow to begin.

The saddle of EXPLOSIVE FORCE (App AK Lim) slipped backward at the 600M.

Approaching the 200M, HERECOMESMYMONEY (SU Lim) when being ridden under the whip with the left hand, veered outwards, obliging its rider to change his whip to his right hand. Thereafter, when being ridden with the whip on his right hand, HERECOMESMYMOMEY shifted in abruptly, obliging its rider to change his whip to his left hand. Jockey SU Lim was shown the vision of the straight and advised to keep his mounts under better control, otherwise action may be taken against him in future.

Jockey S Sandana, the rider of SUPER VICTORY and App KC Wong, the rider of BUTCH CASSIDY reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of SUPER VICTORY revealed no obvious abnormality and BUTCH CASSIDY returned lame off fore.

App AK Lim, the rider of EXPLOSIVE FORCE reported that his mount was making respiratory noises. Post-race veterinary examinations of EXPLOSIVE FORCE and LONESOME ME revealed that both these geldings returned broken-winded and as such, they will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of CASPER (App AM Aizat) revealed no obvious abnormality.

LARCENY, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SOUTHERN CHIEF and STIRLING which were down 17kgs and 15kgs in body weight respectively since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

Trainer PK Leong was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on SOUTHERN CHIEF (HS Gill).

BATTLE HORSE (S Sandana) shifted in shortly after the start and bumped SWEET LODGE (M Ganeesh) inward onto MISS STREISAND (App KC Wong) and LEON (J Mallyon) resulting in both having to be steadied. In doing so, MISS STREISAND and LEON both got their head up and raced ungenerously.

In the straight, LEON continued to race ungenerously and threw its head about.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of SOUTHERN CHIEF reported that his mount was not striding out freely.

Jockey S Sandana, the rider of BATTLE HORSE reported that his mount was not striding out freely and making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of BATTLE HORSE revealed that the gelding had returned broken-winded and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of CHERISH (J Low), MISS STREISAND and SOUTHERN CHIEF revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 1 (R692) CLASS 5 – 1100m(str) – MAN OF HONOUR III 1977 HANDICAP

DYNAMIC TRIO, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

ALIEN (App AM Aizat) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.

NAPOLEON (App S Saddam) jumped away awkwardly and bumped BASTION (S Salee).

FLYING NEKO (S Anandan) rolled out racing to the 250M, resulting in NAPOLEON having to steady and shift in to obtain clear running and shortly thereafter, NAPOLEON had to again steadied off the heels of FLYING NEKO and shifted out for a clear running. Jockey S Anandan, the rider of FLYING NEKO was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’, the Panel of Stewards reviewed the film of the start and observed that barrier 13 (PERCIUS) was slightly slow to open. The Panel of Stewards were satisfied that PERCIUS (Y Aify) was not denied a fair start and was deemed a runner under MRA Rule 115. The Starter was shown the vision of the start.

Jockey S Anandan, the rider of FLYING NEKO and App AM Aizat, the rider of ALIEN both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of FLYING NEKO and ALIEN revealed that both these geldings had returned broken-winded. As such, they will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of TRAVERTINE (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer P Lee, the trainer of EMPIRE BAY (App AK Lim) into the gelding’s apparent improved performance today. Trainer P Lee stated that in his opinion, the gelding managed to get a good jump as compared to its previous start and the straight course today had contributed to its improved performance. His explanation was noted.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that REAL HERO (S Sandana) and TRAVERTINE returned having cast their off fore and near fore plates respectively.

RACE 2 (R693) CLASS 5 – 1200m(lc) – STAR PRINCE 1978 HANDICAP

SNOW DANCER (Lou Ho) over-raced racing to the 1000M and lost ground. As a consequence, NASI LEMAK (App WK Lee) had to be steadied on several occasions, got its head up and raced greenly.

JET ACE (A Aucharuz) laid out racing to the 900M and bumped HANDSOME BOSS (SU Lim) out onto GREAT GERONIMO (HS Gill) which rolled in, resulting in HANDSOME BOSS losing its position.

The Panel of Stewards questioned App WK Lee in presence of his acting master, trainer S Dunderdale, the rider and trainer of NASI LEMAK respectively. App WK Lee stated that his instructions were to get a good jump and race where the horse is comfortable. He also stated that shortly after the start, NASI LEMAK suffered interference and he was further back than anticipated and that the gelding failed to respond to his hands and heels riding and in the straight, when he placed the horse under the whip, NASI LEMAK again failed to respond to his riding. His explanation was noted.

Post-race veterinary examinations of NASI LEMAK, SNOW DANCER, BULL AND BEAR (J Low) and HANDSOME BOSS revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey CK Tan was fined RM200.00 for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for doing trackwork on BRAVE MALALA (N498) on Wednesday, 30^th May 2018 at 6.50am against the PRTC Club’s track regulation.

WITHDRAWAL OF APPEAL AGAINST THE FOUR (4) MONTHS SUSPENSION AND RM20,000.00 FINE UNDER MRA RULE 44(10) IMPOSED ON KC THAM IN CONNECTION WITH THE RIDING AND HANDLING OF “EMPIRE BAY” IN RACE 8 ON SUNDAY, 4^th MARCH 2018 OF THE PERAK TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2018.

The Chairman of the Panel of Stewards agreed to App KC Tham’s withdrawal of appeal and ordered his suspension to take effect from 24^th May 2018 to 23^rd September 2018, both dates inclusive. The Panel also decided to refund his deposit, and agreed to his request that the refund of RM5,000.00 be used to partially off-set the RM20,000.00 fine imposed by the Stewards.

The saddle on SUPER RED slipped to the off side at about the 600M, resulting in Jockey S Sandana becoming severely unbalanced and was dislodged. RANGITAIKI (J Mallyon) and VALBERRY which were following, had to take evasive action to avoid the fallen rider.

GOLDEN DIAMOND which was down 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Acting on veterinary advice that EAGLESHAM had injured its left nose, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 12.33pm. EAGLESHAM will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer HS Lim was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on GOLDEN DIAMOND (A Auchuruz).

GOLDEN DIAMOND stood and was slow to begin.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of ONE FOR ALL pleaded guilty to a charge for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that racing to the 1100M, ONE FOR ALL shifted in when insufficiently clear of EYEOFTHETIGER (J Chuah), resulting in that horse having to clip heels and check, resulting in EYEOFTHETIGER clipping its heels and stumbled.

Jockey Z Khairil was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Panel of Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey Z Khairil’s suspension to take effect from Monday, 4^th June 2018 and to expire on Saturday, 16^th June 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (3.30pm).

LIM’S SIGNATURE (C Goon) raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.

Racing to the 400M, PLATINUM LIFE (App J Daniel) shifted in and raced tight on the outside of HALO INSPIRE (M Yusri), causing HALO INSPIRE to be tightened for room.

HALO INSPIRE had to be steadied racing to the 100M when PLATINUM LIFE rolled in. App J Daniel, the rider of PLATINUM LIFE was shown the video of the incident and was warned to exercise more care under similar circumstances in future. Jockey M Yusri, the rider of HALO INSPIRE was advised not to make unnecessary contact with his arm when racing tight.

Post-race veterinary examinations of IDYLLIC SCENERY (HS Gill) and OUR GENIUS (App S Rosmizan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GASSUR revealed that the gelding had returned with a cut on its right hock whilst SWAN SONG and LUCK DRAGON revealed no obvious abnormality. GASSUR will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

When questioned, Trainer F Maynard, the trainer of GASSUR stated that the gelding had a tendency to over-race. App S Saddam, the rider of GASSUR in the presence of his master Trainer Evert Van Breukelen stated that GASSUR jumped away awkwardly and raced keenly, throwing its head up when being steadied. SPARKLER (App CK Khaw) had to be steadied racing to the 100M and shifted to the outside of SUNTZU (Z Khairil) for clear running when that gelding rolled in. Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of SUNTZU was shown the video of the incident and advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ANAK WARRIOR (SU Lim) and ZAC GALLANT (J Low) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by App CK Khaw, the rider of SPARKLER, placed 2^nd against SUNTZU, being declared the winner on grounds of alleged interference at the 100M.

After considering all the evidence, the Panel of Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the results stood.

PANEL OF STEWARDS’ INQUIRY INTO THE RIDING AND HANDLING OF “SUPREME STAR”, RIDDEN BY JOCKEY TM WAN IN RACE 3 (R633) CLASS 5 – 1200m(lc) – 1952 SPORTING GESTURE HANDICAP – PERAK MAY (GOLD VASE) MEETING 2018 – SATURDAY – 19^th MAY 2018.

The Panel of Stewards concluded an Inquiry on Thursday, 24^th May 2018 into the riding and handling of SUPREME STAR. Evidence were taken from Jockey TM Wan, the rider of SUPREME STAR and Trainer PK Leong, the trainer of SUPREME STAR.

After considering all the evidence and reviewing the videos, Jockey TM Wan, the rider of SUPREME STAR was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) as read with 44(8)(a) in that whilst riding SUPREME STAR in the above race, he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure that SUPREME STAR was given full opportunity of winning or of obtaining the best possible placing.

The particulars of the charge are:

He failed to give SUPREME STAR sufficient rein on jumping, resulting in the horse throwing its head up and losing ground.
From shortly after the start, until about the 800M, he unnecessarily over-restrained SUPREME STAR and failed to let it stride out when it was reasonable to do so;
From the 800M until entering the straight, he raced wide when it was reasonable and permissible to race closer to the rail;
Inside the 400M, he shifted his body weight, resulting in SUPREME STAR becoming unbalanced.

When deciding on a penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account the evidence of this case, Jockey TM Wan’s point of mitigation and his riding record. Jockey TM Wan was disqualified for a period of eighteen (18) months with immediate effect from today, Thursday, 24^th May 2018 and to expire on Saturday, 23^rd November 2019, both dates inclusive. In addition, he was also fined a sum of RM40,000/- (Malaysian Ringgit: Forty Thousand only.) He was advised of his Right of Appeal (12.30pm).

Trainer PK Leong’s evidence was noted.

Acting on veterinary advice that RAJA MAHESA (App S Saddam) cast its off hind leg on the back gates and had sustained a cut, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1.05pm. The gelding will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Q NINE MAGIC which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

NOTHING TO LOSE (SU Lim) was slow to begin.

From the 1300M, Q NINE MAGIC (App S Saddam) which was racing tight on the inside of BRAVE MALALA (App J Daniel), shifted away from BRAVE MALALA which had shifted in and as a result, FLYING DARCI (Lou Ho) was tightened onto NOBLE LIAISON (HS Gill). Shortly thereafter, Q NINE MAGIC continued to lay in and as a result, NOBLE LIAISON had to be steadied when racing in restricted room for some distance.

App J Daniel, the rider of BRAVE MALALA in the presence of Assistant Trainer, Mr. Morli Baharu was shown the vision of the incident and advised to give runners on his inside more room in future.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of NOBLE LIAISON was fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for misconduct in that his conduct towards App J Daniel, the rider of BRAVE MALALA, was unbecoming of a professional jockey after the running of this race.

HELLO SAYANG (App KC Wong) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of HELLO SAYANG, NOBLE LIAISON, KEEN DRAGON (App AM Aizat) and ILUMINADO (J Chuah) revealed no obvious abnormality.

App CK Khaw, the rider of GOOD VIBRATIONS reported that shortly after the start, his saddle slipped forward and in the straight, he was unable to ride his mount out in his normal manner, placing him at a disadvantage. As a result, he had to ease his mount down over the final 150M.

App J Daniel, the rider of WHISPERINTHEWIND reported that his mount could not handle the going.

BIG LIGHTNING, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore cannon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

LUKE MAN (Lou Ho) jumped away awkwardly.

Racing to the 1000M, TEN SENSE WIN (App M Sathiaa) fell. STAR QUALITY (App KC Wong) which was following, fell over the fallen horse. MIA (App L De Souza) which following, was severely hampered by TEN SENSE WIN. TRUSON (App I Firdzriel) and THESE STREETS (App CK Khaw) were also severely hampered in avoiding this incident.

As a result of the incident, App L De Souza, the rider of MIA lost his irons for the remainder of the race. After reviewing the vision, the Panel of Stewards deemed this incident an accident. The Track Manager inspected the track at the incident and was satisfied that it was safe.

App KC Wong and App M Sathiaa, the riders of STAR QUALITY and TEN SENSE WIN respectively were exempted from weighing-in. They were sent to hospital for observations.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that STAR QUALITY returned having injured its near fore fetlock and TEN SENSE WIN had sustained severe injuries and was humanely euthanized. STAR QUALITY will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of PRINCE ISLANDER was shown the vision of the race and advised to exercise more care under similar circumstances in future.

Post-race veterinary examinations of RAMZES, SEMIFREDDO (Y Aify), DEPUTY LAW and HANDSOME BOSS (SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality. PRETTY ABLE (App KC Tham) returned with respiratory distress and as such, the mare will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again. RAMZES was impounded.

VALBERRY (Z Khairil) raced wide from the 700M and until entering the straight.

App AK Lim, the rider of SGFIFTY reported that his mount could not handle the going.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SGFIFTY (App AK Lim) and VALBERRY (Z Khairil) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer R Lines, the trainer of D’GREAT WALL into gelding’s improved performance today. He stated that the gelding has been freshened up from spelling after its poor form and had been working well since. His explanation was noted.

The Panel of Stewards also questioned Jockey Z Khairil and Trainer S Shanmugam, the rider and the trainer of VALBERRY into that mare’s performance today. Trainer S Shanmugam stated that his instructions were good jump and sit midfield. Jockey Z Khairil confirmed his instructions and stated that after settling midfield, the mare commenced to over-race and as a result, racing to the 800M, VALBERRY shifted out and he was caught wide for the remainder of the race. He further stated that VALBERRY responded to his whip-riding only fairly. His explanation was noted.

SCOTTIE (C Goon) jumped in at the start and bumped CASPER (App J Daniel) onto KING ROULETTE (SS Vanan) which lost its position.

Shortly after the start, KING ROULETTE (SS Vanan) was crowded for room by REAL HERO (J Mallyon).

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey C Goon, the rider of SCOTTIE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that passing the 1000M, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of REAL HERO, which was taken in onto THONG’S JIAQING (SU Lim), which had to be steadied and carried inward onto SUPER VICTORY (S Anandan) which had to be checked. Jockey C Goon was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, with effect from Monday, 23^rd April 2018 and to expire on Sunday, 29^th April 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (5.25pm).

Racing past the 1000M, KING ROULETTE which was over-racing, shifted out and at the same time, BLAZING STEED (App AK Lim) shifted in, resulting in KING ROULETTE having to be steadied. App AK Lim, the rider of BLAZING STEED was shown the vision of the incident and advised to exercise more care under similar circumstances in future.

CIVIL UNION (S Salee) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

App KC Wong and Jockey S Salee, the riders of ALIEN and CIVIL UNION respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.

App CK Khaw, the rider of TEEN ANGEL reported that his mount could not handle the going.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BLAZING STEED and ALIEN (App KC Wong) revealed that the geldings returned with respiratory distress and broken-winded respectively. As such, both geldings will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of CIVIL UNION revealed no obvious abnormality.

INQUIRY INTO THE POST-RACE URINE SAMPLE TAKEN FROM “SUPER WINNER” WHICH FINISHED FIRST IN RACE 4 (R287) ENRICH STAKES A – 1100M(str) – AUSTRALIA STAKES, 2^nd DAY, SUNDAY, 4^th MARCH 2018, PERAK MARCH MEETING 2018, WHEN IT WAS FOUND POST-RACE POSITIVE TO “TESTOSTERONE”, A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE UNDER MRA RULES AND REGULATIONS.

The Panel of Stewards on Monday, 16^th April 2018 concluded an Inquiry into the above matter.

Evidence were taken from Trainer N Azman, the trainer of SUPER WINNER, PRTC Senior Veterinary Surgeon, Dr. Reza Singam and Ms Chan Sue Hay, Analyst, Usains Biomics Laboratory.

Trainer N Azman pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(13) and punishable under MRA Rule 134(7) in that he, as the trainer and person responsible for presenting SUPER WINNER to run in the above race, which finished 1^st and its post-race sample coded “24015” subsequently upon analysis, had returned positive to “Testosterone”, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

When deciding on a penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account Trainer N Azman’s mitigating factors and his record. Trainer N Azman was disqualified for a period of three (3) months, effective Monday, 16^th April 2018 and to expire on Sunday, 15^th July 2018, both dates inclusive. In addition, he was fined the sum of RM10,000/- (Ringgit Malaysia Ten Thousand Only). He was advised of his right of appeal (12.15pm)

In terms of MRA Rule 134(11), SUPER WINNER was disqualified from the above race and the results are amended accordingly. SUPER WINNER is suspended from racing for a period of six (6) months, effective from Sunday, 4^th March 2018 and to expire on Monday, 3^rd September 2018, both dates inclusive and thereafter, will be subjected to provide a clearing sample before being declared to race again..

This penalty is to be served consecutively in respect of the earlier disqualification and will be effective from Monday, 16^th July 2018 and to expire on Monday, 15^th October 2018, both dates inclusive. In addition, he was also fined the sum of another RM10,000/- (Ringgit Malaysia Ten Thousand Only). He was advised of his right of appeal (1.00pm).

In terms of MRA Rule 134(11), SCREAMING AMIGA was disqualified from the above race and the results are amended accordingly. SCREAMING AMIGA is suspended from racing for a period of six (6) months, effective from 10^th March 2018 and to expire on 9^th September 2018, both dates inclusive and thereafter, will be subjected to provide a clearing sample before being declared to race again.

Trainer N Azman was allowed fourteen (14) days in which to wind-up his stable affairs.

RACE 1 (R473) CLASS 5 – 1400m(lc) – FUKUOKA HANDICAP –

1^ST DAY, SATURDAY, 14^th APRIL 2018 – PERAK APRIL MEETING 2018

The Panel of Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of PRINCE ISLANDER, ridden by Jockey R Woodworth and trained by Trainer K Coetzee in the above race.

Jockey R Woodworth explained that after being slow to begin, he urged PRINCE ISLANDER forward and then racing from the 1000M to the 800M, the horse had to be steadied on several occasions and on each time, it threw its head up. Jockey R Woodworth further stated that in the straight at about the 200M, he was disappointed for a run when PHILIP (App AK Lim) shifted in and DUE HOME (J De Souza) shifted out and he had to check. Shortly thereafter, approaching the winning post, he again had to check PRINCE ISLANDER when DUE HOME rolled out.

Trainer K Coetzee explained that from his observations, racing to the 1000M, the pace slacken and that resulted in PRINCE ISLANDER getting its head up on several occasions racing to the 800M. He also added that PRINCE ISLANDER had no luck in the straight.

After considering their explanations tendered, the Panel of Stewards took no further action.

RACE 9 (R481) CLASS 4 – 1400m (sc) – OSAKA HANDICAP

1^ST DAY, SATURDAY, 14^th APRIL 2018 – PERAK APRIL MEETING 2018

The Panel of Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of ULTRA HERO, ridden by Jockey R Woodworth and trained by Trainer N Azman in the above race.

Trainer N Azman submitted a letter that his instructions were to be forward. Jockey R Woodworth stated that after a good jump, ULTRA HERO had raced forward, however, showed no pace from the 1200M to the 600M and lost ground, despite his urging. He further explained that from the 600M, he commenced to ride forward and when he placed ULTRA HERO under the whip on entering the straight, the gelding responded fairly. His explanations were noted, however he was advised to ride all his mounts in a manner so as to leave no room for query.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that YENDOR (F Yap) which kicked the back gate of its barrier, had sustained a cut to its left hock. As such, the gelding was withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards at 3.29pm and YENDOR will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Steady rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.

PACHELBEL’S CANON (Z Khairil) and GRAND SHOW (App AM Aizat) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

VRAAD which was up 36kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

FIELD FORCE (App AK Lim) reared up badly, brushed the outside gate and stumbled on landing, unbalancing its rider and lost considerable ground. FIELD FORCE will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

D’GREAT EMPRESS (HK Cheng) was slow to begin.

MY GOODNESS (Lou Ho) raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.

Racing to the 100M, the saddle on ALWAYS D’GREAT (App CK Khaw) slipped to the off side, resulting in the gelding running inwards and then over the final 50M, shifted out. On pulling-up, the saddle shifted further to the off side and as a result, App CK Khaw was dislodged.

Post-race veterinary examinations of D’GREAT EMPRESS and FIELD FORCE revealed no obvious abnormality.

MOLLY BROWNE (J Mallyon) jumped away awkwardly and out and bumped SILVER WIND (CK Tan) which in turn, shifted out and bumped IKING (R Rueven).

Over the final 50M, ULTRA HERO (R Woodworth) had to be steadied when MULTIBLUE EAGLE (App I Firdzriel) rolled in and as a result, was unable to obtain a clear running to the finish.

App S Saddam, the rider of BERCHAM reported that his mount could not handle the going today.

Post-race veterinary examinations of PURPLE RAIN LADY, MOLLY BROWNE and BERCHAM revealed no obvious abnormality.

BLADEMEISTER (TM Wan) laid out and raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.

PRINCE ISLANDER was held up for clear running at the 700M when getting onto the heels of APROBACION (App KC Tham).

Jockey TM Wan and App AK Lim, the riders of BLADEMEISTER and BLACK DIAMOND respectively, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of BLADEMEISTER revealed no obvious abnormality and BLACK DIAMOND returned broken-winded. As such, BLACK DIAMOND will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 2 (R311) CLASS 5 – 1400m(lc) – OPAL HANDICAP

SUPER DRAGON (F Yap) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to start.

SING ENERGY (HS Gill) was slow into stride.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SUPER DRAGON revealed that the gelding had returned lame off fore and AIR POWER revealed no obvious abnormality. SUPER DRAGON will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey TM Wan, the rider of DAWN PROSPECT pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding DAWN PROSPECT shortly after the start, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of EMPIRE BAY (App KC Tham) which had to be steadied and he continued to shift further in and resulting in LUCK HAPPY (SU Lim) being carried inward and bumped AIR POWER (App CK Khaw) which had to be checked and MISS STREISAND (App KC Wong) which was following, had to be steadied and lost its position.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey TM Wan’s guilty plea and his license to ride in races was suspended for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, effective Monday, 12^th March 2018 and to expire on 24^th March 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (1.36pm).

DON’T FORGET THIS (F Yap) which was fractious in the barrier, jumped away awkwardly, was slow into stride and showed no early pace despite being urged.

MR DREAMMAN (S Anandan) and GLORY KID (App KC Wong) were both slow into stride.

Post-race veterinary examinations of UNCLE GLORY (HK Cheng) and GLORY KID revealed no obvious abnormality and MR DREAMMAN had returned broken-winded. As such, MR DREAMMAN will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer M Sukri, the trainer of SGFIFTY into its improved performance today. He stated that he could offer no tangible explanation, other than the change of rider and racing on a firmer track today. His explanation was noted.

JEFFREY (J Mallyon) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, taking TEH TARIK (TM Wan) wider on the track and thereafter, JEFFREY raced very greenly and was very difficult to settle.

SUPER HARD (Z Khairil) had to be steadied racing to the 900M to avoid the heels of OUR MATE CHARLIE (App M Hanif) which had clipped the heels of SCREAMING AMIGA (J De Souza) and stumbled, resulting in App M Hanif becoming unbalanced for a short distance.

CENTURY WORLD (S Sandana) raced greenly in the early stages and was very difficult to settle until racing to the 700M.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SCREAMING AMIGA had bled and as such, the filly will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

GOLD COAST CAPTAIN which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SINGSURAT (J Mallyon) was slow to begin.

Racing to the 1500M, GOLD COAST CAPTAIN (M Leong) the stirrup leather became undone and came off, placing Jockey M Leong at a severe disadvantage throughout the race. As a consequence, GOLD COAST CAPTAIN was eased up at about the 200M. The Panel of Stewards inspected Jockey M Leong’s gear and were satisfied with its condition.

CARBON COPY (M Yusri) had to be steadied racing to the 1400M when AMONGST THE STARS (App W Faizal) rolled in.

SHARP KNIGHT (Y Aify) shifted in to avoid the heels of GOLD COAST CAPTAIN at the 350M to obtain clear running.

AMONGST THE STARS was disappointed for a run on the heels of SHARP KNIGHT racing to the 300M and had to shift out to obtain clear running.

Racing to the 200M, SINGSURAT had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CARBON COPY which rolled out.

The Panel of Stewards concluded an Inquiry today, Saturday, 10^th March 2018 into the riding of RELAU STAR, ridden by Jockey S Sandana and trained by Trainer KF Wong.

Trainer KF Wong explained that RELAU STAR was racing for the first time in a straight course in the above race and in his opinion, the horse was inexperienced, resulting in it shifting to the rails.

Jockey S Sandana stated that from the 400M, when he commenced to ride with the whip, RELAU STAR continued to shift in until the winning post. He was of the opinion that the horse was inexperienced on a straight course and when placed under the whip, caused the horse to shift ground. His explanation was noted. The Panel of Stewards advised him that he should make better effort to keep his mount straight when on a straight course in future.

RACE 8 (R291) CLASS 5 – 1200m (lc) – FIRST SEAL HANDICAP

The Panel of Stewards concluded an Inquiry today, Saturday, 10^th March 2018 into the improved performance of WE’RE THE WORLD, ridden by Jockey TM Wan and trained by Trainer PK Leong.

The Panel of Stewards reviewed the race of WE’RE THE WORLD of 3^rd February 2018 when the gelding was beaten 18.3 lengths. Jockey TM Wan explained that WE’RE THE WORLD had drawn a wide barrier and it is not suited by the distance. He further stated that in today’s race from barrier 1, the gelding jumped well and when being urged forward, responded well and led. In his opinion, it was suited by the 1200M of today’s race. He could offer no further explanations. His explanation was noted and was advised that he must ride in consistent manner, so as to leave no room for query.

Trainer PK Leong was advised of the Rule regarding ‘in-and-out’ running under MRA Rule 117(3).

HEAVENLY GIFT, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

App KC Wong was certified fit by the Club Medical Officer to resume riding.

SNOW DANCER (Lou Ho) jumped away awkwardly.

LEE’S SURPRISE (S Salee) was slow to begin and showed no early pace.

ONE MORE ACHIEVER (R Rueven) shifted in on jumping away and as a result, BOLD PASSION (CK Tan) was checked and lost ground.

HUN YEANG SQUARE stumbled at the 800M and unbalanced its rider and shortly thereafter, App S Hafis was dislodged. After being dislodged, HUN YEANG SQUARE shifted out, resulting in PERFECT RUN (App L De Souza) and ONE MORE ACHIEVER taken wider on the track. Shortly thereafter, LEE’S SURPRISE which was following, had to be steadied to avoid the fallen rider.

Over the final 100M, HUN YEANG SQUARE which was riderless, ran out, hampering and taking I’M A GENIUS (S Anandan) and SNOW DANCER wider.

App S Hafis, the rider of HUN YEANG SQUARE was exempted from weighing-in, examined by the Club Medical Officer and was certified fit. He was shown the vision of the race in the presence of his master Trainer I.Ismadi.

A post-race veterinary examination of HUN YEANG SQUARE revealed no obvious abnormality.

Z Khairil, the rider of SUN MIRACLE was dislodged after the finish and was exempted from weighing-in, as the gelding had collapsed and died. The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that a post-mortem on SUN MIRACLE will be conducted.

RACE 2 (R285) CLASS 5 – 1200m(sc) – PRESS STATEMENT HANDICAP

Trainer HS Lim was fined RM100/- under MRA 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on HANDSOME BAB (HK Cheng).

After being placed in the barrier, WHISPERINTHEWIND (App J Daniel) broke through the front of the gates, damaged barrier 7 and galloped a considerable distance. After being apprehended, WHISPERINTHEWIND was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was declared unfit to start and as such, the gelding was withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards at 2.20pm. WHISPERINTHEWIND will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

This race was further delayed 13 minutes to accommodate the running of Race 3 at Singapore Turf Club.

SCRAT (TM Wan) shifted in on jumping away, tightening GET THE LOTSKI (App KC Wong) onto HANDSOME BAB and as a consequence, all those horses were all slow into stride and showed no early pace.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GET THE LOTSKI and HANDSOME BAB revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Starter advised the Panel of Stewards that barrier 7 is under repair.

YOU ARE GENIUS which was up 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

TIDAL WAVE (J De Souza) shifted in on jumping away and as a result, YOU ARE GENIUS (S Anandan) had to be checked and lost its position.

WHIRLWIND (App KC Wong) commenced to finish strongly from the 200M and racing to the 100M, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FAT POWER (S Salee) and shifted out to take a run between FAT POWER and PROBABLY (HK Cheng) and in doing so, brushed the hind quarters, unbalancing App KC Wong. As a consequence, WHIRLWIND bumped FAT POWER, resulting in App KC Wong becoming unbalanced and was dislodged. App KC Wong was shown the vision of the race and the Panel of Stewards deemed it a racing incident. No further action was taken.

App KC Wong, the rider of WHIRLWIND was exempted from weighing in and was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that DROGBA (R Rueven) and YOU ARE GENIUS returned having cast their near fore plate and off hind plate respectively.

Post-race veterinary examinations of STREET TEASE and WHIRLWIND revealed no obvious abnormality.

PROUD PINOY and SOUTHERN HUSSLER, both course scratching as they had sustained a stone bruised off fore foot and skin allergy respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Emergency acceptor ELUSIVE GENIUS was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

EYEOFTHETIGER which was up 25kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

GOLDEN VELOCITY (Lou Ho) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to start.

At the start, D’GREAT EMPRESS (HK Cheng) jumped away awkwardly outwards and GHOST BANK (App M Hanif) jumped awkwardly inwards, resulting in both THE THINKER (J Mallyon) and STIRLING (C Goon) being tightened and having to check, losing ground.

OK KID (App AM Aizat) had to be steadied inside the 300M to avoid the heels of GHOST BANK and shifted in to obtain a clear running.

YENDOR (F Yap) shifted out over the concluding stages, resulting in HUN YEANG VILLAGE (App S Hafis) having to steady. YENDOR continued to shift out, resulting in OK KID which was taken by BERCHAM (App S Saddam) which rolled in, having to check. Jockey F Yap was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. App S Saddam, the rider of BERCHAM, in the presence of his acting master, Trainer S Shanmugam was also shown the vision of the race over the concluding stages and was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Over the concluding stages, Jockey F Yap, the rider of YENDOR dropped his whip. He was fined RM1,000/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a).

App J Daniel, the rider of IN FULL BLOOM and Jockey Lou Ho, the rider of GOLDEN VELOCITY both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.

Post-race veterinary examinations of IN FULL BLOOM revealed that the filly had returned with respiratory distress and HENNESSY DRAGON returned having bled. Trainer N Azman was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to seek the Steward’s permission to remove the use of shadow-roll on ACE KING within the stipulated time.

ROYAL GIBRALTAR (TM Wan) which broke through the front of the gates and galloped a considerable distance, was withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards at 4.57pm. ROYAL GIBRALTAR will be required to re-qualify at an Official Race Trial before being declared to race again.

This race was run in light rain.

ACE KING (App I Firdzriel) shifted out on jumping away and raced ungenerously and was difficult to settle until approaching the 800M.

Acting on the Veterinary Surgeon’s advice that the Farrier was unable to re-shod the off fore plate on STAR QUALITY (App J Daniel), the Panel of Stewards ordered that the near fore plate be removed and permitted the gelding to race without both fore plates.

FORTUNIQUE (M Ganeesh) which stood when the gates were released and lost considerable ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

JUSTICE WORLD (L Sofhan) was slow into stride.

EN LAUDER (App KC Wong) jumped away awkwardly and shortly after the start, EN LAUDER shifted away from the heels of ASTRO FAME (S Anandan) and bumped STAR QUALITY out onto VALUE OF JUSTICE (Y Aify).

Jockey SU Lim, the rider of DARK EXPRESS reported that his mount was not striding out freely. 1^st DAY, SATURDAY, 6^th JANUARY 2018 – PERAK JANUARY (DERBY) MEETING 2018

The Panel of Stewards investigated the circumstances surrounding MISTER MIYAGI (S Sandana) being declared a non-starter in the above race. The Starter confirmed that after being placed in the barrier, MISTER MIYAGI lean backwards and forced the rear gates to open, resulting in MISTER MIYAGI to back out from his stall as the start was effected. The Starter further stated that in future, Barrier Handlers would be in place to view the rear of the gates in an effort to avoid similar circumstances.
