SUPER GOOD (KC Wong) was slow into stride and shortly after the start, was tightened for room by D’GREAT LORD (J De Souza) and was unable to hold its position.

SUPER GOOD was held up for clear running over the final 50M when GHOST SPIRIT (SS Vannan) rolled out.

Jockey K Eirwan, the rider of BLACK GHOST, reported that his saddle slipped backwards from the 600M.

App S Saddam, the rider of SUPREME SASSO, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examination of D’GREAT LORD and SUPER GOOD revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards questioned App CK Khaw in the presence of his Employing Trainer R Lines and Trainer S Siva, the trainer of LION CITY GOLD into that mare’s performance today. Trainer S Siva stated that his instructions were to get a good jump and settle mid-field. App CK Khaw stated that from barrier 1, the mare began well and he was able to settle mid-field as instructed. He had elected to ride quietly in the middle stages so as to enable LION CITY GOLD to finish the race off. The Stewards noted the explanations and advised App CK Khaw that he must ride his mounts out in a manner so as to leave no room for query.

RACE 2 (R304) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M

SING DARCI (HS Gill) was slow to begin.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SOLID BRISK (App S Hafis) and SING DARCI revealed no obvious abnormality. SING DARCI which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Stewards questioned Trainer K Coetzee, the trainer of SING DARCI into that gelding’s poor performance today. He stated that he was unable to give any tangible explanation for SING DARCI’s poor performance. The Stewards advised Trainer K Coetzee to report back should he find anything amiss with the gelding during the week.

RACE 3 (R305) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M

D’GREAT EMPRESS, ELAINE LOVER and GERMANIC, which were down 15kgs, 17kgs and 19kgs in body weight respectively since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

WINTERFELL (App L De Souza) was slow to begin.

BM POWER (App S Saddam) and GOLD SEAL (SS Vanan) bumped on jumping away.

GENERAL QIN (KC Wong) raced wide from the 800M to the 600M.

BM POWER which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Stewards questioned Trainer KC Tiang, the trainer of GENERAL QIN into that gelding’s poor performance today. He stated that his instructions from a wide barrier draw were to go forward but GENERAL QIN was caught wide from the 800M until the 600M and tired over the concluding stages. His explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of GENERAL QIN revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 4 (R306) CLASS 5 (A) – 1700M

JACKS SECRET and GOLDEN EXPLORER, both course scratching as they were sore near fore fetlock and had a nail prick in the off fore foot respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

AGUERO (Y Aify) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

ARTEMISTER (App I Firdzriel) had to steady passing the 1400M and lost ground.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that DESTINY KNIGHT (HK Cheng) returned cut into its near hind tendon and FOLLOW THE WIND (App S Saddam) returned lame near fore. As such, FOLLOW THE WIND will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SONIC-X (S Muniandy) and AGUERO revealed no obvious abnormality. SONIC-X which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

SACRED GURU and FRANKLY MY DEAR, both course scratching as they were bruised near fore fetlock and had a bruised left knee respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

UNCHAINED MELODY (App P Haris) stood when the gates were released and was slow to begin.

TAFFETAS (App L De Souza) was slow into stride.

PLATOON (J De Souza) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

PLATOON had to steady racing to the 400M to avoid the heels of XENA (HS Gill). Jockey HS Gill was shown the vision of the incident and was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

Post-race veterinary examinations of XENA, KING COBRA (App M Lukman) and PLATOON revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 6 (R308) CLASS 4 (B) – 1300M

D’GREAT SUPREME and STREETS OF FIRE, both course scratching as they had a stone bruise off fore foot and mild respiratory infection respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

REDOUBT (App I Firdzriel) was slow to begin and showed no early pace despite being urged.

TIC TAC TOE (HS Gill) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

HARVEYWALLBANGER (App CK Khaw) was held up for clear running passing the 300M and had to shift to the outside of MR MOSA (App L De Souza) to obtain a clear run.

HARVEYWALLBANGER shifted in over the final 100M of the race, resulting in MR MOSA being tightened onto REBEL FURY (App S Hafis). Approaching the 50M, MR MOSA had to steady when HARVEYWALLBANGER continued to shift inwards. App CK Khaw was shown the vision of the incident in the presence of his Employing Trainer R Lines and was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

Post-race veterinary examinations of CASTLE CHOICE (App P Haris) and TUN O’REILLY (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.

STAGESHOW (C Goon) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

MAI DARKO, a course scratching as it was bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

WILDFIRE which was down 22kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Trainer HS Lim was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for RACING TALENT (App CC Foo).

The Stewards permitted Jockey HK Cheng to replace Jockey HS Gill as the rider of BAOYE CHAMPION as the latter was medically stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

BAOYE CHAMPION was slow to begin and shortly after the start, spun around and dislodged Jockey HK Cheng and ran back riderless into the field.

Prior to the “All Clear”, the Stewards reviewed the vision of the race and spoke to Trainer S Edwards, the trainer of SHENBAO and Trainer S Cook, the trainer of LADY LAKSHMI. The Stewards also interviewed Jockey S Muniandy, the rider of WILDFIRE and also App P Haris, the rider of SHENBAO. After viewing the video, it was established that after dislodging Jockey HK Cheng shortly after the start, BAOYE CHAMPION turned back into the field riderless. At about the 50M, BAOYE CHAMPION ran in behind SHENBAO and in doing so, caused WILDFIRE to be checked. After reviewing the video, the Stewards were satisfied that the placings were not affected. The “All Clear” was given. BAOYE CHAMPION will be required to pass two (2) starting stall tests (at consecutive weekly intervals) before being declared to race again.

PRE-RACE BLOOD TEST – 1^ST DAY, SUNDAY, 1^ST MARCH 2020,

PENANG FEBRUARY MEETING 2020

The report dated 1^st March 2020 (PNTC3#V20/02) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 84 coded blood samples were received from the above mentioned race meeting for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. All samples were analyzed and passed the pre-race testing criteria.

The report dated 27^th February 2020 (V20/027) from the Chief Analyst of USains Biomics Laboratory stated that 33 bottles of coded urine samples and 33 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 16^th February 2020 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

PRTC OFFICIAL BARRIER TEST – TUESDAY, 25^TH FEBRUARY 2020

MACARTHUR (C25) trained by Tr. S Shanmugam which had bled during its official barrier test on Tuesday (25/02/2020) will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a Bleeder’s Test before being declared to race again.

SUPREME SASSO (Z Khairil) had to steady passing the 1100M to avoid the heels of LION CITY GOLD (App L De Souza). Shortly thereafter, CHERISH (SU Lim) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ONE MORE ACHIEVER (App CT Lee).

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SUPREME SASSO returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of RACING TALENT and BAYMAX (R Shafiq) revealed no obvious abnormality.

SPECIAL RAIN (R Rueven) and EASTWOOD (HS Gill) were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and were both passed fit to race.

Trainer I Ismadi was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for HIGHLAND FALCON (App S Hafis).

EASTWOOD jumped away awkwardly.

NOVA DASHING (R Shafiq) was slow into stride.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that REWARDING SMILE (S Muniandy) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of SPECIAL RAIN and Jockey HS Gill, the rider of EASTWOOD, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of both geldings revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of CATCH ME GREAT (SU Lim) and FORTYEIGHT QUEEN (App CK Khaw) revealed no obvious abnormality.

GOLDEN CRAFTSMAN (R Shafiq) was fractious in the barrier, reared up and was cast. The gelding was removed from the barrier, checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.

SHREDDER (J Daniel) had to steady racing to the 1100M when IKING (App S Saddam) rolled outwards.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that GOLDEN CRAFTSMAN returned broken-winded and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey C Goon, the rider of BM POWER, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of BM POWER revealed no obvious abnormality. BM POWER, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Passing the 1400M, SECOND CHANCE (App S Saddam) had to be checked to avoid the heels of LITTLEBITOFJOY.

JJ STAR (R Shafiq) had to be checked passing the 300M to avoid the heels of MOONSHINE MISTRESS which shifted out. Shortly after this incident, MOONSHINE MISTRESS shifted ground inwards for clear running and passing the 50M, MOONSHINE MISTRESS rolled out, resulting in MR DAVID (SU Lim) being taken out onto the heels of ORDOS LEGEND (HS Gill) and checked. After reviewing the films, the Stewards could not attribute the blame to any one rider and no action was taken.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SING EXPRESS (S Anandan) and FOLLOW THE WIND (App CT Lee) revealed no obvious abnormality. FOLLOW THE WIND which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

MR CROWE which was down 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Jockey Z Khairil was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to make the carded weight on GOLDEN TYCOON. The Stewards permitted Jockey SS Vanan to replace Jockey Z Kharil on GOLDEN TYCOON.

CROWN STAR (SU Lim) had to be checked to avoid the heels of DESIRE SKY (App WW Cheah) passing the 900M and in consequence, STAR GENIUS (App S Saddam) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CROWN STAR. Shortly thereafter, ARIF (J Daniel) rolled out making the turn, causing CROWN STAR to be taken wider.

BLACK AND WHITE (S Anandan) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

Jockey SU Lim, the rider of CROWN STAR reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of CROWN STAR revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MR CROWE (R Rueven), STAR GENIUS, MAGIC CITY (HS Gill) and GOLDEN SWORD (C Goon) revealed no obvious abnormality except MR CROWE returned having a cut into its near hind cannon.

Trainer B Ng was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for AMISTAD (K Eirwan).

The Stewards permitted Jockey SU Lim to replace Jockey Z Khairil on GENERAL TYCOON when the latter was medically stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

The breast check on HENNESSY DRAGON broke during the running of the race.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that KUTTNER (AK Lim) returned cut into its near hind.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of MIROTIC, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GENERAL QIN and AIR COMBAT (HK Cheng) revealed no obvious abnormality. AIR COMBAT which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Stewards questioned Trainer R Lines and App L De Souza, the trainer and rider of MAI DARKO respectively into the running of that gelding. Trainer R Lines stated that his instructions were to be handy to midfield. However, MAI DARKO stood and jumped much slower today than it did previously. App L De Souza confirmed that the gelding stood when the gates were released and as a consequence, he had to ride it out to make the lost ground in order to settle in a midfield position. He further stated that from the 800M, MAI DARKO was trapped wide round the turn until entering the straight. App L De Souza further stated that the gelding had a tendency to lay in racing to the 150M and as a consequence, he elected to ride with the whip in the left hand and MAI DARKO finished the race strongly. After viewing the vision in the presence of Trainer R Lines and App L De Souza, the Stewards noted their explanations.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of MAGIC CITY and Jockey J De Souza, the rider of ARAGORN, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of both geldings revealed no obvious abnormality. MAGIC CITY which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Stewards questioned Trainer EV Breukelen and App S Hafis, the trainer and rider of ANDADO respectively into App S Hafis’ ride on the gelding. Trainer EV Breukelen stated that his instructions were to be midfield. App S Hafis stated that ANDADO showed no early speed despite being urged and failed to respond to his riding until he commenced to ride it with the whip over the final 300M. However, the Stewards advised App S Hafis in the presence of Trainer EV Breukelen that he must ride his mounts out so as to leave no room for query.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by Jockey J De Souza, the rider of D’GREAT TIMING, placed third, against BLACK THORN (B Pinheiro), being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference over the 400M. After considering the evidence and viewing the videos, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had affected the chances of D’GREAT TIMING. NAPOLEON (App S Saddam) jumped away awkwardly and lost its position.

FORTUNE SPIRIT (App I Firdzriel) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.

BAYMAX (R Rueven) was slow into stride.

MESSI (App S Hafis) showed no early pace despite being urged.

AGUERO (SU Lim) had to be steadied when tightened on several occasions by SATELLITE TURBO (HS Gill) which rolled in passing the 900M.

MESSI raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

CAVATINA which was up 18kgs and JUMBO STAR which was down 18kgs in body weight respectively since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC (App CT Lee) and WINDRUNNER (App S Hafis) were both slow to begin.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by App P Haris, the rider of TILSWORTH JOSHI, placed 3^rd against GOOD WARRIOR (App CK Khaw), being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference over the final 150M. After considering the evidence, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the result stood.

App CK Khaw, in the presence of his Trainer, Trainer R Lines, was shown the vision of the incident and was warned to exercise greater care when his mounts shift ground in similar circumstances.

Post-race veterinary examinations of HEART FEELING (C Goon) and GRIDIRON (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.

GENERAL REPORT(S)

RACE 4 (R1580) OPEN MAIDEN – 1200M [WEIGHT-FOR-AGE], 1^ST DAY, SATURDAY, 21^ST DECEMBER 2019, PENANG DECEMBER YANG DI-PERTUA NEGERI GOLD CUP MEETING 2019

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today (28^th December 2019), further evidence was taken from Trainer K Coetzee and App J Daniel in the presence of his Acting Trainer, Trainer N Shanmugam, the trainer and rider of EMIRATES WARRIOR respectively. App J Daniel was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride EMIRATES WARRIOR in the above race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were in that:-

after getting a fair jump, he failed to ride EMIRATES WARRIOR with sufficient vigour to be in touch with the field until about the 400M;

after entering the straight and from about the final 200M or thereabouts, he failed to ride EMIRATES WARRIOR with sufficient vigour and determination to the end of the race.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account the facts of this case, App J Daniel’s points of mitigation and his riding record. App J Daniel was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months with effect from Monday, 30^th December 2019 and to expire on Wednesday, 29^th April 2020, both days inclusive. In addition, he was fined the sum of RM10,000/- (Ringgit Malaysia Ten Thousand). He was advised of his Right of Appeal (12.45 pm).

Subsequently, App J Daniel exercised his Right of Appeal against the four (4) months suspension and the RM10,000/- fine and applied for Stay of Sentence. The Stipendiary Stewards, after hearing his submissions, granted App J Daniel the Stay of Sentence (4.13 pm).

The appeal hearing will be held at a date to be fixed.

GENERAL REPORT – SLTC

RACE 11 (R1595) CLASS 5 (B) – 1300M (LONG COURSE B), SUNDAY,

22 DECEMBER 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB DECEMBER MEETING 2019

The Stewards opened an inquiry into a mix-up with saddles of GOOD VIBRATIONS (App L De Souza) and READY TO STAR (HK Cheng) from Trainer R Lines’ stables. The mix-up necessitated reweighing of both riders prior to the race. An inquiry was adjourned to allow the Stewards to examine the CCTV footage of the weigh-in process.

After examining the CCTV footage of the weigh out process for Race 11 on 22 December 2019, it was ascertained that the mix-up numbers had come about due to negligence in part of Valet Ismail Bin Saleh who was assisting both Jockey HK Cheng (No. 6 – READY TO STAR) and App L De Souza (No. 4 – GOOD VIBRATIONS).

Mr K Visuanathan Kalimuthu (S477), Trainer R Lines’ Stable Supervisor, had identified the mistake when saddling GOOD VIBRATIONS with the saddle which he recognized as not being App L De Souza’s.

Jockey HK Cheng (READY TO STAR) was fined RM500/- under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for negligence for failing to ensure his saddle had the correct number.

App L De Souza (GOOD VIBRATIONS) was reprimanded for failing to ensure his saddle had the correct number, and was also reprimanded under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for negligence related to the veracity of his evidence.

Further, after considering that Valet Ismail Bin Saleh’s involvement in this matter were a repetition of his actions when suspended under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for negligence at SLTC on 5 August 2019, the Stewards deemed that any application to be licensed as a Valet by Mr Ismail Bin Salleh to work at SLTC for 2020 would not be accepted.

The Stewards questioned Trainer T Asogan into the poor performance of RICH AND SMART. He was unable to offer any tangible explanation and was advised to report to the Stewards should he find anything amiss with the gelding on returning to the stables.

The Stewards also questioned Jockey HS Gill, the rider of RICH AND SMART into that gelding’s poor performance. Jockey HS Gill stated that prior to the jump, RICH AND SMART got its head up and that contributed to it being slowly away. He further stated that he considered the gelding was not suited by today’s going.

GOLDEN STATES (SU Lim) had to be steadied passing the 250M when MARTELLO (Z Khairil) rolled in, obliging the rider of MARTELLO to stop riding and straighten his mount. The Stewards showed Jockey Z Khairil the vision of the incident and advised him to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Post-race veterinary examinations of EMIRATES WARRIOR and EMKI EXPRESS (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality. EMIRATES WARRIOR was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

The Stewards opened an Inquiry into the running and handling of EMIRATES WARRIOR and questioned its rider, App J Daniel and its trainer, K Coetzee. After taking initial evidence and viewing the video, the Stewards adjourned the Inquiry to a date to be fixed.

SONNY BILL (App J Daniel) was slow to begin.

Racing to the 1500M, TONGARIRO (App L De Souza) which was racing in tight galloping room, bumped the hind quarters of SONNY BILL out, resulting in D’GREAT OPULENT (App S Rosmizan) which was racing on its outside clipping its heels, stumbled, dislodging App S Rosmizan. DISCRETELY RED which was following had to take evasive action from the fallen rider and as such, had to steady outwards resulting in the saddle of DISCRETELY RED shifting to the off side and App CT Lee lost the use of both his irons and DISCRETELY RED was eased out of the race.

App S Rosmizan was examined by the Club Medical Officer and was stood down for the remainder of the day.

The Stewards took evidence from App S Rosmizan in the presence of his trainer S Hamilton, and App J Daniel. After viewing the videos, the Stewards were satisfied that it was a racing incident and took no further action.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SONNY BILL returned with epiglottis entrapment and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet examination) before being declared to race again.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of IKING, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality.

CLASSIC KING (App S Hafis) shifted outwards on jumping away and as a result, bumped HAPPY START (SU Lim) out which lost its position when steadying from the heels of DARCI SUPER (App S Saddam) when DARCI SUPER was taken in by EASY DANCER (App J Daniel) which in turn was taken in by BM POWER (App CT Lee). As a consequence, MYSTICAL STAR (KC Wong) lost its position.

I AM MIDAS (R Shafiq) raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.

Jockey KC Wong, the rider of MYSTICAL STAR, reported that he was hit by a clod of mud in the right eye at about the 800M. He was examined by the Club Medical Officer and was passed fit to continue riding for the remainder of the day.

App J Daniel, the rider of EASY DANCER reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality. EASY DANCER which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of OVERSEER (Z Khairil) and DARCI SUPER revealed no obvious abnormality. DARCI SUPER was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of ROSES FOR ME, reported that he was struck by a clod of mud in the left eye and mouth. He was examined by the Club Medical Officer who passed him fit to continue riding for the remainder of the day.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that both MAPLE RISING (App S Zulfikri) and SASA LADY (AK Lim) returned having cast their off fore plate and D’GREAT OCEAN (J Low) returned having cast its near fore plate.

A post-race veterinary examination of GHOST SPIRIT (C Goon) revealed no obvious abnormality, however cast its off fore plate on returning. GHOST SPIRIT which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of EMKI EMPRESS (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race examination of HALO INSPIRE (HS Gill) revealed that the gelding returned having cast its near hind plate.

The Stewards questioned Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of NOVA SPIRIT in the absence of Trainer C Leck into that gelding’s poor performance today. Jockey S Ruzaini stated that NOVA SPIRIT could not handle today’s going and failed to respond to his riding at any stage of the race. The Stewards noted his explanation. A post-race veterinary examination of NOVA SPIRIT revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

The Stewards questioned Jockey J Low, the rider of D’GREAT VULTURE as to why that gelding was slow to begin. Jockey J Low stated that D’GREAT VULTURE fly-jumped and threw its head up on jumping away and lost ground. He further stated that his instructions were to be handy but he was unable to do so as the gelding could not handle today’s going. His explanation was noted.

The Stewards questioned App CK Khaw, the rider of SOUTHERN MAN, in the presence of his Acting Trainer, B Ng as to why that gelding was slow to begin. App CK Khaw stated that when the gates were released, SOUTHERN MAN threw its head up, resulting in the gelding awkwardly into stride. He further stated that his instructions were to be mid field but the gelding failed to handle the going in today’s race. The Stewards showed App CK Khaw the vision of the start and advised him that he must ensure that his horses are given a fair and good jump so that he could carry out his instructions.

Prior to the running of Race 1, the Stewards advised and instructed all jockeys and apprentices that they must strictly comply with the Mounting Procedure at the Penang Turf Club, failing which action may be taken against them.

JEFFREY and GRAND SHOW, both course scratchings as they had sustained a stone bruise off fore and was bruised both fore fetlocks respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

NASI LEMAK (M Yusri) shifted inwards on jumping away, taking BEST DREAM (K Eirwan) onto TOP TURF (S Muniandy) which was checked and lost its position.

AMISTAD (HS Gill) over-raced in the early stages of the race and threw its head up on several occasions.

WEATHER MAN (SU Lim) had to steady passing the 600M to avoid the heels of MODRIC (S Salee).

TOP TURF and BEST DREAM both dislodged their riders on pulling-up. Both Jockeys S Muniandy and K Eirwan were medically cleared to continue riding for the remainder of the day.

Jockey S Anandan, the rider of GHOST CITY, reported that his mount was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that GHOST CITY

returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of NATURAL WATER (App CC Foo) and NASI LEMAK revealed no obvious abnormality. NASI LEMAK which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 2 (R1371) CLASS 5 (B) – 1300M

EASTWOOD which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of ULTIMATE HERO (S Muniandy) at 2.15pm acting on veterinary advice that it was lame off hind. ULTIMATE WARRIOR will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

BASTION (App S Hafis) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.

The whip of App S Saddam, the rider of SUPREME SASSO, was accidentally struck off his hand by App S Hafis, the rider of BASTION at about the 50M.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ANAK WARRIOR (Z Khairil) and MR WHYTE (HK Cheng) revealed no obvious abnormality. ANAK WARRIOR was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

RACE 3 (R1372) CLASS 5 (A) – 1300M

ARECIBO (App WW Cheah) steadied shortly after the start to avoid the heels of MASTRO GEPPETTO (HS Gill) which rolled outwards.

POLO TYCOON (K Eirwan) had to be steadied racing to the 700M to avoid the heels of D’GREAT LUCK (AK Lim).

Jockey HS Gill and App S Saddam, the riders of MASTRO GEPPETTO and WHISPERINTHEWIND respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of MASTRO GEPPETTO and WHISPERINTHEWIND revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of INDOMITABLE SPEED (SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

App CT Lee, in the presence of his Trainer, HS Lim, was shown the vision of his ride on THE MILLIONAIRE in the straight and was reminded of the rules with respect to the use of the whip forward of his horse’s shoulder.

The Stewards questioned Trainer S Siva into the improved performance of AUSSIE EAGLE (R Shafiq). He stated that AUSSIE EAGLE had stayed in Penang and had been freshened up during the week and that the gelding was ridden more aggressively from the wide barrier. He further stated that apart from the run on 26^th October 2019, the gelding’s form had been consistent. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the rules regarding “in- and-out” running. (MRA Rule 117(3)).

App P Haris, in the presence of his Trainer, HS Lim, was fined RM500/- under MRA Rule 121(7) for returning more than 1kg over the weight he weighed out on ASTRO FAME.

App P Mogun, the rider of MULTIBLUE SHARK, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of MULTIBLUE SHARK revealed no obvious abnormality.

ONE MORE ACHIEVER (S Salee) which was very fractious in the barrier, reared when the gates were released and was slow to begin.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of HAPPY SIXTYSIX reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of HAPPY SIXTYSIX revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SAKURA JAPAN (AK Lim) and ONE MORE ACHIEVER revealed no obvious abnormality.

CERDAN which was up 24kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Jockey C Goon, the rider of AUDACIOUS, got his whip entangled in the reins at about the 300M.

SMART EAGLE (App P Mogun) laid in approaching the 200M, obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten the gelding.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that TARZAN BOY (J Low) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

Jockeys K Eirwan and R Shafiq, the riders of POLO BOY and OPTIMUS respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of POLO BOY and OPTIMUS revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of AUDACIOUS revealed no obvious abnormality.

SMART EAGLE returned having cast its near hind plate.

The Stewards questioned Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of NORTHERN KNIGHT in the absence of Trainer PS Kumaran into the gelding’s improved performance today. Jockey S Ruzaini stated that the only explanation he could offer was that NORTHERN NIGHT was better suited by today’s going and racing at 1200M. His explanation was noted.

THAI BAHT, a course scratching as it had sustained a nail prick off fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer MP Thwaites was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for ROCKET FIGHTER (S Salee).

MARTELLO (App CT Lee) jumped away awkwardly and was checked shortly after the start when D’GREAT EMPRESS (J Low) shifted inwards.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MARTELLO, ROCKET FIGHTER and D’GREAT EMPRESS revealed no obvious abnormality.

SATELLITE TURBO (App CK Khaw) was slow into stride.

GOLDEN CRAFTSMAN (SU Lim) had to check racing to the 1500M to avoid the heels of SUPER RED (K Eirwan) and shifted inwards, resulting in NAPOLEON (Z Khairil) having to steady.

Jockey K Eirwan, the rider of SUPER RED, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that SUPER RED bled and since it is SUPER RED’s second bleeding attack, the gelding will be barred from racing for a period of six (6) months under MRA Rule 92(5)(a), (b) & (c) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SATELLITE TURBO returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BAYMAX (S Ruzaini) and NAPOLEON revealed no obvious abnormality. BAYMAX which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

MERCHANT MARINE (SU Lim) stood and lost considerable ground at the start. The gelding will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

BASTION (App S Saddam) was crowded for room shortly after the start and lost its position when GHOST CITY (S Anandan) was taken inwards by D’GREAT ELEGANCE (J De Souza).

JUSTICE GRACE (App P Haris) hung out away from the whip in the straight and finished wide on the track.

Jockey SU Lim, the rider of MERCHANT MARINE, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of MERCHANT MARINE revealed no obvious abnormality

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that CALM AND TRANQUIL (App L De Souza) and MR DREYFUSS returned having cast their near off fore plate and near fore plate respectively.

A post-race veterinary examination of GERMANIC revealed that the gelding returned having cast its off fore plate. Post-race veterinary examinations of ARTEMISTER (App P Mogun) and HERO KING (S Ruzaini) revealed no obvious abnormality. BM POWER (Z Khairil) returned having cast its off hind plate.

Shortly after the start, ROBBEN (App S Rosmizan) stumbled and became unbalanced for several strides. App S Rosmizan was shown the video of the incident in the presence of his Trainer, S Hamilton and was advised that in future, he should report incidents that affect his running.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of MAJOR GREEN, reported that his mount was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of MAJOR GREEN revealed no obvious abnormality.

KERAUNO (App S Rosmizan) was fractious in the barrier, turned its head to the side when the gates opened and lost ground.

GENERAL MARSHALL and CATAPULT which were both down 16kgs, and POMP which was down 18kgs in body weight since their last runs, were all checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted Jockey Y Aify to replace Jockey S Ruzaini on SHANGHAI NIGHTS as the latter was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

Light rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.

SHANGHAI NIGHTS which was difficult to be ridden to the start, will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test (to be ridden unaided to the start) before being declared to race again.

GENERAL MARSHALL (App S Saddam) jumped away awkwardly outwards.

TWENTYSIXTWELVE (C Goon) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, forcing HAPPY BABY (S Anandan), TURQUOISE KING (App CK Khaw) and BRAVE MALALA (App S Rosmizan) wider, and as a result, TURQUOISE KING lost ground.

CATAPULT (App L De Souza) was slow into stride.

The Stewards questioned Jockey Y Aify into the poor performance of SHANGHAI NIGHTS. Jockey Y Aify explained that SHANGHAI NIGHTS was still a green horse and he did not think it was suited by today’s track conditions. His explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that SHANGHAI NIGHTS returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of CASTLE CHOICE (App P Haris) and BRAVE MALALA revealed no obvious abnormality.

TWENTYSIXTWELVE returned having cast its near fore plate. The gelding which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

NUMERO UNO which was down 19kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted Jockey Y Aify to replace Jockey S Ruzaini on METALLOCENE.

ORIENTAL SPIRIT (Z Khairil) was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 5.10pm acting on veterinary advice that the gelding was lame near fore. ORIENTAL SPIRIT will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

ACE’S WILD (App CK Khaw) jumped away awkwardly.

METALLOCENE was slow to begin.

ELITE GOLD (HS Gill) had to be steadied racing to the 1100M and as a consequence, shifted out across the heels of METALLOCENE and as a result, checked, got its head up and lost ground.

Racing to the 800M, STAR STRIKE (SU Lim) rolled in, causing DISCRETELY RED (App S Rosmizan) to be steadied to avoid its heels.

STAR STRIKE was taken outwards at the 400M by DISCRETELY RED and had to be steadied.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that STAR STRIKE returned having cast its near fore plate and was cut into near hind.

Post-race veterinary examinations of DISCRETELY RED, WINGED FOOT (App L De Souza) and ELITE GOLD (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.

APPEAL BY JOCKEY M HANIF AGAINST THE SIX MONTHS SUSPENSION & RM20,000/- FINE IMPOSED BY THE PANEL OF STEWARDS UNDER MRA RULE 44(10) IN CONNECTION WITH HIS RIDING AND HANDLING OF “MARIO ATTILA” IN RACE 5 (R662), CLASS 5(B) – 1400M(sc) – ATLETICO DE MADRID HANDICAP, PERAK MAY/JUNE MEETING – 1st DAY, SATURDAY, 25th MAY 2019

The Appellate Panel of Stewards heard the above appeal today, Monday, 21st October 2019.

After hearing submissions from Jockey M Hanif and the Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward, Mr. Philip Anderson and reviewing the video of the race, the Appellate Panel dismissed the appeal and Jockey M Hanif’s deposit is forfeited.

However, the Appellate Panel reduced the six months suspension to four months suspension with effect from today, 21^st October 2019 and to expire on 20^th February 2020, both dates inclusive and the RM20,000/= fine imposed was confirmed.

PRTC BARRIER TRIAL – TUESDAY, 22^ND OCTOBER 2019

SWISS ROLL (H44) which bled during its official barrier trial on Tuesday (22/10/2019) at the Perak Turf Club, will now be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3) (a) &(b)

INQUIRY INTO THE POST-RACE URINE SAMPLE CODED “28605” TAKEN FROM RACEHORSE “D’GREAT TALENT” IN RACE 2 (R1161) CLASS 5(A) – 1400M, 2^ND DAY, SUNDAY, 15^TH SEPTEMBER 2019, PENANG SEPTEMBER MEETING 2019 WHICH RETURNED POSITIVE TO “BOLDERNONE SULPHATE”, A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE UNDER THE MRA RULES AND REGULATIONS

The Stipendiary Stewards today (25^th October 2019) concluded an Inquiry into the above matter at the Penang Turf Club.

Evidence was taken from Trainer S Hamilton, the trainer of D’GREAT TALENT, Associate Prof. Dr Tan Soo Choon, Chief Analyst, Usains Biomics Laboratory and Dr Khor Li Li, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, PNTC.

Trainer S Hamilton pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(13) and punishable under MRA Rule 134(7) in that she, as the Trainer and person responsible for presenting and accepting to run D’GREAT TALENT, which finished tenth (10^th) placing in the above race and its post-race urine sample coded “28605” subsequently upon analysis, returned positive to Boldenone Sulphate, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

When deciding on penalties, the Stewards took into account Trainer S Hamilton’s mitigating factors, the nature of the prohibited substance and her previous record. Trainer S Hamilton was fined a sum of RM15,000/- (Ringgit Malaysia Fifteen Thousand) and was informed of her Right of Appeal (3.00 pm).

In terms of MRA Regulation 45.6, D’GREAT TALENT will be barred from racing for a period of six (6) months with effect from 26^th September 2019 and to expire on 25^th March 2020, both dates inclusive and thereafter, a clear urine sample from D’GREAT TALENT must be submitted for analysis before the gelding is declared to race again, as required under MRA Rule 134(12).

BABY POLO (App P Haris) broke down after pulling-up. The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BABY POLO fractured its off fore lateral sesamoid bone and was humanely euthanized.

App L De Souza, the rider of JJ STAR, reported that his mount was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that JJ STAR returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of MR CONNERY (J De Souza) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards questioned Trainer B Ng into the improved performance of DESTINY KNIGHT (HK Cheng). He stated that after its previous start in Ipoh, he had been disappointed with the gelding’s race. He further stated that DESTINY KNIGHT had recently trialed well and he thought that the distance and track condition of today’s race contributed to the gelding’s improved performance. His explanation was noted.

Trainer S Shanmugam was fined RM1,000/- under MRA Regulation 20.6 as read with MRA Regulation 20.3.1 for failing to ensure the vaccination status (Equine Influenza) was current for HEAVENLY GIFT. HEAVENLY GIFT was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 2.45 pm.

POLO BOY which was up 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

ASIAN TIGER (App S Rosmizan) jumped away awkwardly.

GOLDEN ROOSTER (HS Gill) had to steady shortly after the start when HYDRANT (App A Suriya) shifted out and at the same time D’GREAT SONG (J De Souza) shifted in.

GOLD SEAL (S Anandan) raced ungenerously in the early stages and threw its head up.

ALIEN (App L De Souza) raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App A Suriya, the rider of HYDRANT in the presence of his Acting Trainer, Trainer C Robert, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that racing to the 1100M, he shifted inwards when insufficiently clear of D’GREAT WORLD resulting in BLACK IS POWER (App CK Khaw) and ASIAN TIGER racing on the inside of D’GREAT WORLD having to check. App A Suriya was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from Monday, 16^th September 2019 and to expire on Sunday, 22^nd September 2019, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4.50pm).

Racing to the 1000M, D’GREAT WORLD shifted out and bumped GOLDEN ROOSTER onto D’GREAT SONG which was taken out, resulting in GOLD SEAL having to check.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that TRIPLE ONE D’GREAT (App S Hafis) returned cut into off fore cannon.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ASIAN TIGER, MIROTIC (S Ruzaini) and GOLDEN ROOSTER revealed no obvious abnormality.
