RACE 1 (R1125) CLASS 5(B) – 1400M

ANOTHER SHOW, a course scratching as it was sore near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

App Z Ahmad was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Rule 107(10) for failing to make the carded weight on PARISBAS. The Stewards permitted App SN Shiva to replace App Z Ahmad as the rider of PARISBAS.

Jockey SU Lim was stood down by order of the Stewards on all his rides today. The Stewards permitted App A Azizi to replace Jockey SU Lim as the rider of QIJI LOVE as there was no suitable jockey available.

JEFFREY (KC Tham) jumped awkwardly.

Passing the 1000M-mark, JEFFREY was inconvenienced and had to steady when MERRY BELL (SS Vanan) rolled inwards. Jockey SS Vanan was shown the video of this incident and was advised to exercise more care in future.

Shortly before the finishing line, QIJI LOVE rolled inwards.

Jockeys AM Aizat and SS Vanan, the rider of INTROIT and MERRY BELL respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of INTROIT and MERRY BELL revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R1126) CLASS 5(B) – 1400M

DAWNBREAKER was a course scratching as it was having an infection in the scrotum. The gelding will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

STRONG N BRAVE (CC Foo) was slow into stride.

Jockey F Yap, the rider of LUCKY THIRTYNINE, was shown the video of his ride and was warned against the practice of using his whip with excessive force.

Trainer C Robert was questioned with regards to the improved performance of LIM’S KEYWAY (App Z Syafifie) today. He was unable to offer any explanation other than possibly the horse enjoyed the going today. He was surprised by the run. The Stewards drew his attention to the rules regarding “in-and-out” running (MRA Rule 117(3).

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of CHIEF CLERK, reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noises, and App R Nuqman, the rider of BIG POWER, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of CHIEF CLERK revealed no obvious abnormality. BIG POWER returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 3 (R1127) CLASS 5(A) – 1400M

INVICTUS WARRIOR, a course scratching as it had sustained a swollen near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The Stewards permitted App R Nuqman to replace Jockey SU Lim as the rider of FIRE AWAY as there was no suitable jockey available.

SUNNY STAR (K Eirwan) was slow into stride.

IAMBUTTER (AK Lim) and BROADWAY SUCCESS (S Salee) raced tight and brushed on a number of occasions in the last 300M.

Jockey CC Foo, the rider of STAR EFFECT, was shown the video of his ride and was warned against the practice of using his whip with excessive force when the gelding was clearly out of contention.

App Clyde Leck, the rider of STAY SOUND, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of STAY SOUND revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of STAR EFFECT revealed that the gelding returned having cast its off fore and off hind plates.

STAR EFFECT and STAY SOUND which both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SUNNY STAR and BROADWAY SUCCESS revealed no obvious abnormality. FIRE WAY returned having cast its near fore plate.

RACE 4 (R1128) CLASS 5(A) – 1400M

GURNEY DRIVE, a course scratching as it had respiratory tract infection, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

DREAMS CAN BE REAL (M Yusri) stood and was slow to begin.

Jockey CC Foo, the rider of ALPHA MOLTRES, was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for dropping his whip at about the 200M-mark.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MACEO (App A Azizi) returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and having cast its near hind plate. MACEO will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of TWILL GUY (F Yap) revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, after taking evidence from Trainer B Ng and Jockey F Yap, and reviewing the films, Jockey F Yap was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) as read with MRA Rule 44(8)(a) in that whilst riding TWILL GUY, he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that TWILL GUY was given full opportunity of winning or of obtaining the best possible placing.

The particulars of the charge were that:

having had a good jump from barrier 10 at the 1400M-mark, he took hold of his mount at approximately the 1200M-mark until the 400M-mark, restraining it;
he raced unnecessarily wide on the turn; and
from the 400M-mark to the finish, he again continually restrained his mount.

When deciding on the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the facts of this case, Jockey F Yap’s riding record and his points of mitigation. After considering the provisions of MRA Rule 44(8)(a), Jockey F Yap was disqualified from riding in races for a period of eighteen (18) months with effect from Sunday, 25^th September 2022 and to expire on Sunday, 24^th March 2024, both days inclusive. In addition, he was fined a sum of RM 30,000/- (Malaysian Ringgit Thirty Thousand). He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6.50pm).

Trainer B Ng was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he condoned the ride of Jockey F Yap on TWILL GUY when the ride was clearly contentious. Trainer B Ng was fined a sum of RM10,000/- (Malaysian Ringgit Ten Thousand) and was advised of his Right of Appeal (6.55 pm).

RACE 5 (R1129) OPEN MAIDEN – 1200M (WEIGHT-FOR-AGE)

USA CAPTAIN, a course scratching as it had sustained a near fore sole bruise, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

I AM KHAN and UNLIMITED STAR which were down 16kgs and 18kgs respectively in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were both passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted App R Nuqman to replace Jockey SU Lim as the rider of JAMES BOND as there was no suitable jockey available.

MR PABNO (AK Lim) was slow into stride.

Shortly after the start, UNLIMITED STAR (KC Tham) was inconvenienced and was bumped by GOLD SKY TRILLION (App A Saran) which rolled outwards.

At approximately the 1000M-mark, GOLD SKY TRILLION became crowded and had to check when UNLIMITED STAR which was hanging in, shifted in despite Jockey KC Tham’s attempt to keep straight.

App SN Shiva, the rider of SILVER SIXTYSIX and Jockey S Salee, the rider of SKY DRAGON reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of SILVER SIXTYSIX revealed no obvious abnormality. SKY DRAGON returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that UNLIMITED STAR returned having cast its near hind plate.

The state of track was upgraded to “Soft” after the running of this race.

Shortly after the start, GOLDEN KING (AK Lim) and PENTAGON (R Rueven) came together and bumped.

App R Nuqman and Jockeys AM Aizat and R Rueven, the respective riders of DIRECTOR, D’GREAT BOSS and PENTAGON, all reported that their mounts were not riding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of the 3 geldings revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 7 (R1131) CLASS 4(B) – 1200M

STAR INVINCIBLE, which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted App Z Syafifie to replace Jockey F Yap as the rider of MAGNOLIA BLVD, and App R Nuqman to replace Jockey SU Lim as the rider of STAR INVINCIBLE as there were no suitable jockeys available.

OUD WOOD (KC Tham) was slow into stride.

MAGIC CITY (App A Saran) shifted in from the whip in the straight.

At approximately the 600M-mark, HAZARD (AK Lim) was inconvenienced when STAR INVINCIBLE rolled inwards.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that VAIN TYCOON (S Salee) and PERFECT MISSION (SS Vanan) returned having cast their respective off fore plate.

A post-race veterinary examination of HAZARD revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockeys AK Lim and R Rueven, the rider of AIR BOSS and JET BLACK respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of AIR BOSS and JET BLACK revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BILLION SENSE (App Z Syafifie) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

The report dated 8^thSeptember 2022 (V22/135) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 22 coded urine and 26 sets of coded blood samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 29^th August 2022, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

The Appellate Panel of Stewards heard the above appeal on Friday, 23^rd September 2022.

After hearing the evidence of Jockey CK Tan and his interpreter Mr. Chong Cheng Loong (NRIC 640629-08-5863), and the Chief Stipendiary Steward, and after reviewing the videos of the race, the Appellate Panel dismissed his appeal. Jockey CK Tan’s one (1) year disqualification from 9^th July 2022 to 8^th of July 2023 and the fine of RM30,000/- is confirmed. In addition, his deposit is forfeited.

RACE 1 (R1097) CLASS 5(B) – 1600M

CAPE LINCOLN (R Rueven) was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.

D’GREAT MAGIC (AK Lim) had a tendency to hang out in the straight.

In the latter stages, RAISE ME UP (SS Vanan) rolled inwards and made contact with MYSTICAL STAR (K Eirwan). Jockey SS Vanan was warned that he should make a greater attempt to keep his mount on a straight course in future.

App SN Shiva, the rider of THE JEWELLER, and Jockey R Rueven, the rider of CAPE LINCOLN, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of THE JEWELLER and CAPE LINCOLN revealed no obvious abnormality.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by Jockey K Eirwan, the rider of MYSTICAL STAR, placed 2^nd against RAISE ME UP (SS Vanan), being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference in the latter stages of the race. After considering the evidence, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the result stood.

This race was re-scheduled to start 5 minutes later at 2.20 pm.

MERRY BELL, a course scratching as it was sore off fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Light rain fell prior to the running of Race 2 and heavy rain fell during the running of this race.

SECOND CHANCE (R Rueven) was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 12.41 pm when it was discovered that there was an administrative error with regard to vaccination.

Jockey How Yang was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Rule 107(10) for failing to make the carded weight on I’M THE MAN. The Stewards permitted Jockey SS Vanan to replace Jockey How Yang as the rider of I’M THE MAN.

JEFFREY (KC Tham) was inconvenienced at the start and was slow into stride when LIM’S KEYWAY (App Z Syafifie) was carried inwards by APOLLO ROCK (App WW Cheah) which jumped awkwardly.

JEFFREY shifted out to obtain a clear run at approximately the 500M-mark.

All riders returned to scale an average of ½ kg over.

Jockeys AM Aizat and SU Lim, the respective rider of MOONSHINE MISTRESS and TAIWAN CAPTAIN, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of MOONSHINE MISTRESS and TAIWAN CAPTAIN revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey S Salee, the rider of MICHAELEARNSTOROCK reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of MICHAELEARNSTOROCK revealed no obvious abnormality. MICHAELEARNSTOROCK which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Rain fell during the running of Race 3.

Shortly after jumping, BIG POWER (App Z Syafifie) was inconvenienced when PENANG BANK (App WW Cheah) shifted in. In this incident, DREAMS CAN BE REAL (SU Lim) which was following, was also inconvenienced. App WW Cheah, in the presence of his Acting Trainer, Trainer HS Lim, was shown the video of the incident and was advised to exercise more care.

SHA NA NA (KC Tham), CHER (AK Lim) and HEARTS OF GOLD (AM Aizat) all finished the race wide.

ARROGATE ACHIEVER (App Clyde Leck) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of GURNEY DRIVE (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.

LUCKY THIRTYNINE, a course scratching as it was sore near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

FAST AND SUPER (SS Vanan) cast its near fore and off fore plates whilst in the parade ring. Acting on veterinary advice that FAST AND SUPER was very difficult to be re-shod, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.13pm.

D’GREAT STRIKE (AM Aizat) was slow into stride.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SIMLONG BEACH (S Salee) and QIJI LOVE (How Yang) revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey How Yang, the rider of QIJI LOVE, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that he failed to ride QIJI LOVE with sufficient vigiour and determination in the straight.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account the facts of this case, Jockey How Yang’s points of mitigation and his record. Jockey How Yang was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months with effect from Sunday, 18^th September 2022 and to expire on Tuesday, 17^th January 2023, both days inclusive. In addition, Jockey How Yang was fined a sum of RM10,000/- (Malaysian Ringgit Ten Thousand). He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6.15pm).

The Senior Veterinary Surgeon of Perak Turf Club had reported that the following horse had undergone corrective surgery at the PRTC Equine Hospital between 22^nd July 2022 to 21^st August 2022 and as such, will be required to pass a Steward’s Embargo Test before being declared to race again :-

PERAK SEPTEMBER MEETING 2022

The report dated 15^th September 2022 (V22/138) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 37 coded urine and 41 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 4^th September 2022, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected except for sample coded “33815” which revealed the presence of “Ketoprofen”. Upon decoding, it was established that the sample coded ‘33815” was reported to have been taken from the horse “BLUE EYED BOY” which finished 2^nd in Race 2 on 3^rd September 2022 at the Perak Turf Club September Meeting 2022.

In addition, on 17^th September 2022, Trainer Evert van Breukelen, the trainer of “BLUE EYED BOY” was advised of the contents of this report and his attention drawn to MRA Rule 137(1)/MRA Regulation 46.1 & 46.2 regarding the Referee Sample. Trainer Evert van Breukelen was also advised that “BLUE EYED BOY” cannot be entered to race until cleared by the PRTC Stipendiary Stewards under MRA Rule 134(12).

An Inquiry into this matter will be held at a date to be fixed.

JOCKEY URINE SAMPLES:

PERAK SEPTEMBER MEETING 2022

The report dated 15^th September 2022 (V22/139) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 4 bottles of coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 4^th September 2022 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected except for sample coded J-3879, which upon analysis, was tested positive to “Mitragynine”, a prohibited substance.

Upon decoding, it was established that sample coded J-3879 was provided by App M Ekdihar. App M Ekdihar was notified of the finding from Usains Biomics Laboratory through his Employing Trainer, Mr SY Lim on Saturday, 17^th September 2022. He was also informed of the provisions of MRA Rule137 and MRA Regulation 46 with regard to the Referee Sample.

Under MRA Rule 136(3), App M Ekdihar is stood down from riding races and riding track-work, barrier trials and tests with immediate effect, pending an Inquiry being conducted at a date to be fixed.

POST RACE ANALYSIS (EQUINE)

PENANG AUGUST MEETING 2022

The report dated 1^st September 2022 (V22/130) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 25 coded urine and 25 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 22^nd August 2022, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

No prohibited substances were detected except for sample coded “35123” which revealed the presence of “Dexamethasone”. After decoding this sample number, it was established that the sample was reported to have been taken from the horse “ GET THE LOTSKI” which collapsed in the holding area and was withdrawn from Race 7 on 21^st August 2022 at the Penang Turf Club August Meeting 2022.

The PNTC Veterinary Surgeon, vide letter dated 21^st August 2022, reported that GET THE LOTSKI was administered 10ml of Dexamethasone intravenously immediately after it collapsed and the horse slowly recovered.

Since Dexamethasone was administered to GET THE LOTSKI by the Club Veterinary Surgeon as an emergency treatment, no further action was taken.

A post-race veterinary examination of SILVER SIXTYSIX (WK Lee) revealed that the gelding returned with a cut to its near hind coronet and will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that D’GREAT CHANCE bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

Shortly after the start, MULTIBLUE SHARK (App SN Shiva) clipped the heels of DANCING RAIN (HS Gill) which rolled outwards. Jockey HS Gill was shown the video of this incident and warned to exercise more care in future.

Passing the 200M-mark, SHANGHAI NIGHTS (S Ruzaini) and AHTIMS KLIS (AK Lim) brushed.

App A Azizi, the rider of SHYAM SINGHA ROY, reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of SHYAM SINGHA ROY revealed that the gelding returned with intermittent dorsal displacement of soft palate and mild respiratory distress. SHYAM SINGHA ROY will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

App A Azizi, the rider of SHYAM SINGHA ROY, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer T Asogan, was shown the video of his ride in the latter stages and was warned against the practice of using his whip on a horse that is clearly beaten.

At approximately the 250M-mark, LEEDSTHEWAY (App Z Ahmad) and APOLLO ROCK (AK Lim) became crowded and had to steady when FIRST SUCCESS (S Zulfikri) shifted in. Thereafter, APOLLO ROCK was baulked when racing tight on the inside of BLACK TAIPAN (SU Lim). At a subsequent Inquiry, Jockey S Zulfikri pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) and was suspended from riding in races for two (2) Penang Race Days with effect from Sunday, 28^th August 2022 and to expire on Saturday, 24^th September 2022, both days inclusive. The Stewards today (27^th August 2022) continued their Inquiry into the running and handling of CHIEF CLERK (KC Tham). After questioning Trainer I Ismadi, the Trainer of CHIEF CLERK, and taking further evidence from Jockey KC Tham, and reviewing the video, the Stewards informed both Trainer I Ismadi and Jockey KC Tham that they were not entirely satisfied with the explanations given. However, Jockey KC Tham was warned that he was expected to ride all his mounts in such a way so as to leave no room for query.

OTTAWA and SUNNY STAR, both course scratching as they were dehydrated and bruised off hind sole respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

TWILL GUY (AK Lim) had to steady at approximately the 800M-mark when GOLD SKY TRILLION (App A Saran) rolled in.

At approximately the 900M-mark, PROVE IT (F Yap) was momentarily crowded when racing tight on the inside of MAGIC PLAYER (SU Lim).

Jockey KP Lim, the rider of BATTLESTAR, was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for dropping his whip at approximately the 150M-mark.

Jockey R Rueven, Jockey HS Gill and App WW Cheah, the respective rider of FIRE AWAY, INVICTUS WARRIOR and GHOST AFFAIR, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of FIRE AWAY, INVICTUS WARRIOR, GHOST AFFAIR and BATTLESTAR revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that TWILL GUY returned having cast its off hind plate.

Approaching the 800M-mark, GOLDEN SHOW (Y Aify) was inconvenienced when racing tight between COLOUR PAINT (HS Gill) and LEESTOWN EXPRESS (App WW Cheah).

Jockey Y Aify, Jockey AM Aizat, and App A Saran, the riders of GOLDEN SHOW, D’GREAT STRIKE and PULAU PINANG respectively, all reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of GOLDEN SHOW, D’GREAT STRIKE and PULAU PINANG revealed no obvious abnormality,

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that COLOUR PAINT bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

Trainer K Ananthen was questioned with regards to the improved performance of BAGHDAD (App A Azizi) today. The only explanation he was able to offer was that in his opinion, it was not a strong field, coupled with the fact that this horse likes the soft going. His attention was drawn to the rules regarding “in-and-out” running (MRA Rule 117(3)) and he was warned that should BAGHDAD continue to be inconsistent in the future, it may be suspended.

HORSEH, a course scratching as it had fever, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

BRISTOL DIAMOND (App SN Shiva) entered the home straight wide.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that ARAGORN (R Rueven) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of ARIF (App Z Ahmad) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Trainer HS Lim was questioned with regards to the disappointing performance of SHENG PROISIR (HS Gill) today. The only explanation he was able to offer was that his horse had been drawn wide and was obliged to race wide on the turn. His attention was drawn to the rules regarding “in-and-out” running (MRA Rule 117(3)).

RACE 4 (R980) CLASS 4(A) – 1400M

MULTIBLUE SHARK, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised left hock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

KANTHAKA which was up 20kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

BLEU MARINE (SU Lim) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to race.

SILENT BOSS (S Ruzaini) was hanging out in the latter stage of the race.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by Trainer T Asogan, the trainer of SOMAR (App A Azizi), placed second, against SILENT BOSS, being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference in the latter stages of the race. After considering the evidence and viewing the video, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the result stood.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of DISCRETELY RED, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-ace veterinary examination of DISCRETEY RED revealed no obvious abnormality.

GOLDEN KING, a course scratching as it had sustained nail bind injury, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Emergency acceptors, MR AK and TERMS OF REFERENCE were both withdrawn due to a capacity field.

The Stewards permitted the withdrawal of D’GREAT RICH at 4.10pm when Jockey R Rueven was stood down by the Club Medical Officer and there was no suitable rider available

Acting on veterinary advice that GOOD LUCK CHARM (HS Gill) was sore off fore foot, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.21pm. GOOD LUCK CHARM will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

App A Azizi, the rider of MACEO, was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to mount when instructed to do so by the Paddock Stewards.

PURPLE RAIN (App S Hafis) jumped awkwardly outwards whilst D’GREAT JOURNEY (AM Aizat) jumped awkwardly inwards, resulting in crowding to PERFECT MISSION (KC Tham), QADIRA MEDINA (Y Aify) and HARVEYWALLBANGER (S Ruzaini) which had also jumped awkwardly. Jockey S Ruzaini lost the use of his left side stirrup iron in this incident and regained it shortly thereafter.

PERFECT MISSION raced wide on the turn and entered the home straight wide.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BIG BUS (App R Nuqman) returned with a cut to its off hind heel.

A post-race veterinary examination of PERFECT MISSION revealed no obvious abnormality

Trainer HY Cheng was questioned with regards to the improved performance of VETRI (SU Lim) today. The only explanation he was able to offer was that VETRI was down in class today and this, in his opinion, accounted for the improved performance. His explanation was noted.

TRAVIS, a course scratching as it was tied up, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

GET THE LOTSKI (App S Hafis) was withdrawn at 3.06pm when it collapsed in the holding area. The gelding was administered emergency treatment and was then impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

The Stewards permitted the withdrawal of FIRST SUCCESS at 4.43pm when Jockey R Rueven was stood down by the Club Medical Officer and there was no suitable rider available.

The Stewards permitted App S Hafis to replace Jockey HS Gill as the rider of SILVER SIXTYSIX when there was no suitable jockey available.

PENNSYLVANIA (SU Lim) jumped awkwardly.

NOVA DASHING (AM Aizat) was slow into stride.

At approximately the 900M-mark, PARISBAS (App Z Syafifie) and LEESTHEWAY (App Z Ahmad) were inconvenienced when EMPEROR WARRIOR (S Ruzaini) rolled in abruptly. Jockey S Ruzaini was shown the video of the incident and was warned to exercise more care in future.

The saddle on JOON HO (S Zulfikri) slipped back in the running.

App WW Cheah, the rider of POWERFUL DRAGON, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of POWERFUL DRAGONW revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that PARISBAS (App Z Syafifie) returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of EMPEROR WARRIOR (S Ruzaini) revealed no obvious abnormality. JOON HO returned having cast its near fore plate.

Trainer C Robert was questioned with regard to the improved performance of PENANG MAN (App R Nuqman) today. The only explanation he was able to offer was that this horse is better suited to the 1300M distance today. His explanation was noted, however, his attention was drawn to the rules regarding “in-and-out” running (MRA Rule 117(3)).

MAKE U FAMOUS and MA BAO BAO are both course scratching. MAKE U FAMOUS had sustained a swollen right knee and MA BAO BAO was dehydrated. Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

NOVA PHOENIX and DON’T FORGET THIS which were down 19kgs and 22kgs in body weight respectively since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and both were passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted App R Nuqman to replace Jockey HS Gill on PENANG BANK, and App Z Ahmad to replace Jockey R Rueven on D’GREAT CHANCE when there was no suitable jockey available.

ANOTHER SHOW (SU Lim) raced wide on the turn and entered the home straight wide.

The saddle on D’GREAT CHANCE slipped backwards badly in the running, placing the rider at a disadvantage.

A post-race veterinary examination of CHIEF CLERK (KC Tham) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that HANGRY (S Salee) returned with a cut to its near fore coronet. RAISE ME UP (KP Lim) returned having cast its near fore plate.

Trainer S Hamilton was questioned with regards to the disappointing performance of HANGRY today. She explained that this horse was drawn wide today and she had instructed Jockey S Salee to ride mid-field. However, on returning, he said that HANGRY was not striding out freely and the Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that the gelding had returned with a cut to its near fore coronet.

The Stewards questioned Jockey KC Tham with regards to his ride on CHIEF CLERK. After consideration, the Stewards adjourned the matter until the following week when Trainer I Ismadi is present.

The Penang Turf Club Racing Stewards on 19^th August 2022 heard the above Appeal.

Submissions were made by App N Varmah in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer C Robert.

After considering the submissions from App N Varmah, Trainer C Robert and the Chief Stipendiary Steward, and reviewing the video replay, the Racing Stewards dismissed the Appeal. The penalty of eighteen months’ disqualification was confirmed, which took effect from Saturday, 11^th June 2022 and to expire on Sunday, 10^th December 2023, both days inclusive. The fine of RM40,000/- (Malaysian Ringgit Forty Thousand) remains in effect.

The appeal deposit was forfeited.

Jockey S Zullfikri was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to make the carded weight on NEVERTHELESS. The Stewards permitted Jockey AM Aizat to replace him as the rider of NEVERTHELESS.

At approximately the 1600M-mark, NEVERTHELESS was crowded and had to steady, losing some ground.

LEGEND WAR (SU Lim) shifted out in the latter stages.

An objection was lodged after the race by App Clyde Leck, the rider of SEMANTAN PRINCE, first past the post, in the presence of his Acting Master, Trainer S Dunderdale, against LEGEND WAR (SU Lim), the dead-heat partner, on grounds of interference in the latter stages of the race. After considering the evidence and viewing the video, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the result stood.

Trainer K Ananthen was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to declare the removal of tongue-tie from DRAGON SANDS (KC Tham) within the stipulated time.

DRAGON SANDS could not be boxed, delaying the start. In view of its previous history, the Stewards suspended DRAGON SANDS for a period of one (1) month (until 31^st August 2022) and thereafter until it passes two (2) starting stall tests at consecutive weekly intervals.

D’GREAT STRIKE (AK Lim), STARDICE (S Salee) and INVICTUS WARRIOR (HS Gill) were all slow into stride.

At approximately the 1200M-mark, Jockey HS Gill, the rider of NEVERUNCONDITIONAL, stopped riding as he felt something amiss. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY (SU Lim) shifted out from the whip in the latter stages. Jockey SU Lim was warned that in future, he must make a greater effort to keep his mounts on a straight course.

App A Azizi, the rider of SECKILL, reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of SECKILL revealed that the gelding returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

App R Nuqman, the rider of PENANG MAN, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of PENANG MAN revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 7 (R902) CLASS 5(B) – 1400M

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today (31^st July 2022), App AR Aiman, the rider of TRAVIS, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer B Ng, was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) punishable under MRA Rule 44(8)(a) for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure that TRAVIS was given full opportunity of winning or of obtaining the best possible placing.

The details of the charge are that:

Having had a good jump, he shortly thereafter took hold of his mount and shifted out, crossing and interfering with D’GREAT MAGIC (AK Lim);

He then continued to restrain his mount, resulting in it being placed last from the 800M-mark until the 300M-mark which was contrary to instructions and resulting in his mount being unable to race to its best advantage;

(iii) He raced 3 wide on the turn and again took hold of his mount at the 300M-mark and thereafter when his mount was starting to run on, he shifted in behind other runners at the 100M-mark.

In assessing the penalty, the Stipendiary Stewards took into account App AR Aiman’s riding records and mitigating factors. He was disqualified from riding in races for a period of one (1) year with effect from Sunday, 31^st July 2022 and to expire on Sunday, 30^th July 2023, both dates inclusive. In addition, App AR Aiman was fined the sum of RM30,000/-. (Malaysian Ringgit: Thirty Thousand Only). He was informed of his right of appeal (12:50pm).

Jockey S Zulfikri was advised that in future, he is to make adequate arrangement to arrive at the Turf Club on time, failing which he may be penalized.

Approaching the crossing at the 1600M-mark, CAPE LINCOLN (S Ruzaini) rolled inwards slightly, carrying JEFFREY (App M Ruvanesh) inwards, resulting in FIRST PASSTHEPOST (L De Souza) becoming crowded and having to steady. Jockey S Ruzaini was shown the video of the incident and warned to exercise more care in future.

Approaching the 600M-mark, SILVER SIXTYSIX (Y Aify) commenced to give ground and then at approximately the 400M-mark, became unbalanced and checked on the inside of CLOUD SHADOW (S Salee).

Post-race veterinary examinations of SILVER SIXTYSIX and JEFFREY revealed no obvious abnormality. JEFFREY was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

Trainer S Hamilton was questioned with regards to the improved performance of HANGRY today as compared to its run on 23^rd July 2022. She explained that the going on 23^rd July 2022 was “Good” and was not suited to this gelding. Her explanation was noted.

At approximately the 800M-mark, MACEO (AK Lim) was crowded and had to check when TERMS OF REFERENCE (S Salee) shifted in. At a subsequent Inquiry, Jockey S Salee pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) and was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) race days with effect from Monday, 1^st August 2022 and to expire on Sunday, 14^th August 2022, both days inclusive. He was informed of his Right of Appeal (3.50 pm).

QIJI LOVE which was up 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

As there was no suitable rider available, the Stewards permitted App Z Syafifie to replace Jockey S Zulfikri as the rider of PENANG GENERAL when the latter was medically stood down.

Acting on a report from the Official Starter that the stirrup iron holder on PENANG GENERAL broke, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 2.29 pm. Trainer C Robert and App Z Syafifie, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer K Ananthen, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 41(7) for using a faulty saddle on PENANG GENERAL, resulting in this horse having to be withdrawn. Trainer C Robert and App Z Syafifie were each fined RM500/- for using a faulty saddle on PENANG GENERAL.

MR DREYFUSS (App SN Shiva) collapsed shortly after the winning post and died. App SN Shiva was exempted from weighing in. He was checked by the Club Medical Officer and was passed fit to continue riding for the day.

The Stewards questioned Trainer CC Ooi and Jockey HS Gill with regards to the running and handling of TWILL GUY. After studying the video and hearing their explanations, the Stewards took no further action other than to warn Jockey HS Gill to ensure that he rides his horses in future so as to leave no room for query.

VAIN TYCOON (AM Aizat) cast its near fore plate en route to the start and had to be re-shod. The gelding was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barrier and was passed fit to start.

NO REGRETS (KP Lim) was slow into stride.

App R Nuqman, the rider of BIG BUS, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of BIG BUS revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that VAIN TYCOON returned broken-winded and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey F Yap was fined RM500/- under MRA Rule 44(12) for making a celebratory gesture on QIJI DIAMOND prior to the winning post.

Trainer S Deva Raj, when questioned regarding the improved performance of QIJI DIAMOND,

stated that the only explanation he could offer was that the gelding was better suited to today’s distance as compared to its previous run over 1600M. His explanation was noted.

Trainer K Coetzee was questioned with regards to the improved performance of POWER EXPRESS (S Saddam) today. Other than having jumped awkwardly, bumping the outside gate as reported, he also stated that in his opinion, this horse runs its best races in Penang. His explanation was noted.

Jockey S Ruzaini was questioned with regards to the poor performance of MULTIBLUE SHARK today. He stated that this horse took no interest despite his attempt at urging his mount throughout. Trainer S Cook would be questioned with regards to the disappointing performance of MULTIBLUE SHARK. A post-race veterinary examination of this gelding revealed no obvious abnormality. MULTIBLUE SHARK was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

A post-race veterinary examination of HAZARD (Y Aify) revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that D’GREAT RICH (S Salee) returned having cast its off hind plate.

Jockeys S Saddam and SU Lim, the rider of MACARTHUR and STAGESHOW respectively, were warned against the practice of using their whip when their mounts were clearly out of contention.

Rounding the turn at the 800M-mark, SHENG PROISIR (R Rueven) raced wide without cover.

AYAAN (App N Varmah) had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight, carrying IPOH DASH (S Saddam) inwards and at approximately the 100M-mark, IPOH DASH switched out over the heels of AYAAN to obtain a clear run.

A post-race veterinary of SHENG PROISIR revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that AYAAN returned lame off fore and D’GREAT SUPREME (S Salee) bled. AYAAN will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again. D’GREAT SUPREME will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

Jockey F Yap was shown the video of his ride on MAGNOLIA BLVD and was warned against the practice of excessive whip use.

WINNING LEGEND (J Daniel) jumped awkwardly inwards, carrying PENNSYLVANIA (AK Lim) inwards, resulting in D’GREAT VULTURE (AM Aizat) being inconvenienced.

At approximately the 800M-mark, WINNING LEGEND shifted inwards, resulting in ROCK ARTIST (S Rozmizan) clipping its heels, stumbling and rolling outwards, bumping MATILDA (KP Lim). In this incident, the saddle on MATILDA slipped backwards. At a subsequent Inquiry, Jockey J Daniel pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) and was suspended for two (2) race days with effect from Monday, 13^th June 2022 and to expire on Sunday, 19^th June 2022, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5.45pm).

A post-race veterinary examination of MATILDA revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that WINNING LEGEND returned having cast its off fore plate.

At approximately the 700M-mark, STORM TO WIN (App N Varmah) commenced to give ground abruptly, resulting in NEVERUNCONDITIONAL which was following, having to check off its heels.

In the concluding stages, OUD WOOD (App R Nuqman) shifted inwards, inconveniencing ROTI KAYA (KP Lim) who thereafter had to switch out over the heels of OUD WOOD to obtain a clear run. App R Nuqman was shown the video of the incident and warned to keep his horse on a straight course in future.

A post-race veterinary examination of STORM TO WIN revealed no obvious abnormality.

An Inquiry into the running and handling of STORM TO WIN will be held at a date to be fixed.

No prohibited substances were detected, except for sample coded “J-6410” which upon analysis, was tested positive to “Mitragynine”, a prohibited substance.

Upon decoding, it was noted that sample coded “J-6410” was provided by Jockey KC Tham. Jockey KC Tham was notified of the finding from USains Biomics Laboratory on Friday, 3^rd June 2022. He was also informed that he would receive a letter from the MRA in due course advising him of the provisions of MRA Rule 137 and MRA Regulation 46 with regard to the Referee Sample.

Under MRA Rule 136(3), Jockey KC Tham is stood down from riding in races and riding trackwork, barrier trial and tests with immediate effect pending an Inquiry being conducted at a date to be fixed.

MYSTICAL STAR (App N Varmah) and PARISBAS (App R Nuqman) were both slow into stride.

At approximately the 500M-mark, HOSTWIN CHEVALIER (KC Tham) broke down in the running. In this incident, LUCKY SIXTYSIX, MYSTICAL STAR and ROBBEN (S Salee), which were following, had to take evasive action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that HOSTWIN CHEVALIER fractured its near fore fetlock and was humanely euthanized.

HALLELUJAH (KP Lim) had a tendency to lay in from the whip in the straight.

MY MONEY (App S Sia) was momentarily held up in a tightly-bunched field at approximately the 200M-mark.

The saddle on PARISBAS slipped back in the running.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that PARISBAS returned having cast its off fore plate.

Light rain fell prior to the running of this race.

ZILFIKAR (App S Sia) reared on jumping.

HOOGA NET (KC Tham) was slow into stride.

At approximately the 800M-mark, SATELLITE GENIUS (SU Lim) became crowded and had to check when DARCI SUPER (KP Lim) shifted in.

Post-race veterinary examinations revealed that ZILFIKAR returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and HOOGA NET returned lame off fore. ZILFIKAR and HOOGA NET will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of PLATOON (S Ruzaini) revealed no obvious abnormality. MR DREYFUSS (App N Varmah) returned cut into off hind and will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey KP Lim, the rider of DARCI SUPER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in at approximately the 800M-mark, resulting in SATELLITE GENIUS (SU Lim) being crowded and having to check. Jockey KP Lim was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) race days with effect from Sunday, 22^nd May 2022 and to expire on Saturday, 4^th June 2022, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (2.05pm).

The Stewards opened an Inquiry into the running and handling of GOLDEN SHOW. After taking evidence from Jockey CK Khaw and Trainer T Asogan, the rider and trainer of GOLDEN SHOW respectively and viewing the video, the Inquiry was adjourned to 22^nd May 2022 at Perak Turf Club in order for Jockey CK Khaw to call a witness.

Trainer CC Ooi was questioned with regards to the improved performance of MISS MICHELLE (S Ruzaini) today as compared to its run on 23^rd April 2022. The only explanation Trainer CC Ooi could offer was that this mare had a history of barrier problems. However, today, she jumped well and was able to position accordingly. This, in his opinion, accounted for the improvement. The Stewards noted his explanation, however, drew his attention to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding “in-and-out” running.

ASGARD MASSIF and KENG MAK MAK are both course scratching. ASGARD MASSIF collapsed and died in the stable and KENG MAK MAK was sore off fore foot. KENG MAK MAK will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

HONEY BOWL (K Eirwan) and SACRED SEA (CK Khaw) were both slow into stride.

CENTURY SPEED (App R Nuqman) broke down in the running at approximately the 300M-mark. In this incident, SHANGANI (App A Najib) was hampered, resulting in App A Najib being almost dislodged. A post-race veterinary examination of CENTURY SPEED revealed that the gelding fractured it near fore cannon and was subsequently euthanized humanely.

At approximately the 200M-mark, WHY NOT (App M Ruvanesh) and UNSTOPPABLE GIANT (S Salee) were inconvenienced as a result of FLYING BABY (AM Aizat) shifting out against the whip.

A post-race veterinary examination of LEGEND WAR (SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that FLYING BABY returned with a speedy cut to its off hind leg and would be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

AMAZING CHOICE which was bruised near hind bumper and CHER which had colic are both course scratching. Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

D’GREAT STRIKE which was up 22kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App AR Aiman, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer HS Lim, was shown the video of his ride on SHENG PROISIR in the concluding stages of the race. He pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(6) for failing to ride his horse to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. In deciding on the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration his relatively inexperience and his riding record. App AR Aiman was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with effect from Monday, 23^rd May 2022 and to expire on Wednesday, 22^nd June 2022, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5.10pm).

Acting on veterinary advice that DROUGHT (S Ruzaini) was lame off fore, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 4.44pm. DROUGHT will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey CC Foo, the rider of DESTINY KNIGHT, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that DESTINY KNIGHT returned lame near fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MAGICAL PARK (SU Lim) returned having cast its near hind plate.

A post-race veterinary examination of BIG DALLAS (App R Nuqman) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey KP Lim was shown the video of his ride on FIRST SUCCESS and was warned against

the practice of bouncing up and down on his mount’s back.

BALBOA which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

CLOUD SHADOW (AM Aizat) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to race.

DAWNBREAKER (J Low) and CROWN DELIGHT (CK Khaw) were both slow into stride.

Approaching the crossing at the 1500M-mark, DARK KNIGHT (KC Wong) appeared to baulk at the crossing and thereafter started bucking and ducked outwards sharply, inconveniencing BALBOA (App SN Shiva) and carrying CROWN DELIGHT (CK Khaw) outwards to the outside running rail where both riders were dislodged. Jockey CK Khaw and App SN Shiva were both exempted from weighing-in.

At approximately the 400M-mark, RAISE ME UP (KP Lim) which was laying out, steadied momentarily off the heels of CAPE LINCOLN (SU Lim).

Trainer T Asogan was questioned with regards to the improved performance of CAPE LINCOLN today. He was unable to offer any explanation and was surprised by the performance. His attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding “in-and-out” running and was warned that should this horse prove to be inconsistent in the future, it may be suspended.

App A Nazir, the rider of LUCKY SIXTYSIX, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of LUCKY SIXTYSIX revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of BALL AND CHAIN (J Daniel) revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App A Nazir, in the presence of his Acting Master, Trainer CC Ooi, was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(iii) for incompetent riding in that whilst riding LUCKY SIXTYSIX, he failed to give his mount sufficient rein on jumping, resulting in it being very slowly away. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the facts of this case, App A Nazir’s riding record and points of mitigation. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months with effect from Sunday, 15^th May 2022 and to expire on Thursday, 14^th July 2022, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4.10pm).

JULIUS CAESAR, PURE SPARK and MAKE U FAMOUS are all course scratching. JULIUS CAESAR had sustained a swollen near fore cannon, PURE SPARK was knocked right knee and MAKE U FAMOUS had colic. These 3 geldings will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SOLID BRISK (J Low) was over-racing in the early and middle stages.

Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of DROUGHT, reported that his whip broke in the running.

Jockey SU Lim, the rider of ALPHA MOLTRES, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of ALPHA MOLTRES revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of LOUEY VELOCE (KC Tham) and BATTLESTAR (KP Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey KP Lim was questioned with regards to the start and was shown the video. He was warned that in future, he would be expected to make every effort to ensure that his horse jumps on terms with the field, failing which action may be taken against him.

Jockey AM Aizat was questioned with regards to his ride on FLYING BABY. After viewing the video, the Stewards warned Jockey AM Aizat that in future, he should ride all his mounts in such a manner so as to leave no room for query.

The State of Track was upgraded to “Good” after the running of this race.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MR HOPKINS returned having cast its near fore plate.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SACRED DON (App M Ruvanesh) and D’GREAT BOSS (AM Aizat) revealed no obvious abnormality. SACRED DON and D’GREAT BOSS, which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

ORDOS LEGEND and ONE FORCE which were down 18kgs and 16kgs in body weight respectively since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

Jockey J Daniel was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to seek the Stewards’ permission to ride 1½ kg over on SACRED GALAXY within the stipulated time.

Trainer K Coetzee was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for ORDOS LEGEND (KC Wong).

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BACK TO THE FUTURE (App AR Aiman) returned having cast its near fore plate.

RICHE RICH (SU Lim) and MYSTICAL STAR (App N Varmah) were both slow into stride.

A post-race veterinary examination of GORDON G (S Ruzaini) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Trainer S Shanmugam was questioned with regards to the improved performance of ASIAN JET (J Daniel) today. The only explanation he could offer was that he removed the blinkers and the tongue-tie and had hoped that this horse would improve which it had. In his opinion, this had accounted for the improvement. He undertook to race ASIAN JET equipped in a similar manner in future. His explanation was noted.

Trainer R Lines was questioned with regards to the disappointing performance of GORDON G (S Ruzaini) today. The only explanation he could offer was that the gelding was drawn badly today and was unable to be as handy as he would have liked and as such, disappointed. His explanation was noted.

BEAUTY THIRTYNINE which was down 21kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

HERO CHAMPION (J Daniel) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to race.

HERO CHAMPION blundered badly on jumping, almost dislodging its rider.

Shortly after the start, RAISE ME UP (AM Aizat) became crowded when racing tight on the inside of LIM’S KEYWAY (App N Varmah) which was racing on the inside of BEAUTY THIRTYNINE (HK Cheng) which had been slightly influenced inwards by BLACK IS POWER (SU Lim). The Stewards deemed this to be a racing incident and took no further action.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that HERO CHAMPION returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Trainer HY Cheng and Jockey SU Lim were questioned with regards to the improved performance of BLACK IS POWER today as compared to its run at the Penang Turf Club on 1^st May 2022. Jockey SU Lim stated that he had received the same instructions which were to get a good jump and place the horse where it was comfortable. Trainer HY Cheng stated that he had given the same instructions to Jockey SU Lim today. However, the horse was drawn better today and there was no pace in the race. Furthermore, he was surprised by the horse’s performance today and could not offer any further explanation. His attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding “in-and-out” running and he was warned that should this horse prove to be inconsistent in the future, it may be suspended.

Trainer HS Lim was questioned with regards to the improved performance of SACRED GALAXY (R Rueven). The only explanation he could offer was that the horse had rested well since its last run and he had changed the rider and this, in his opinion, accounted for the improvement.

CONTRAVENTION OF MRA RULE 44(10) FOR THE RUNNING AND HANDLING OF “GOLDEN CRAFTSMAN” IN RACE 1 (R136) ON SATURDAY, 29^TH JANUARY 2022, 1^ST DAY, PENANG TURF CLUB JANUARY MEETING 2022

The Penang Turf Club Racing Stewards on 13^th May 2022 heard the above Appeal. Jockey HK Cheng was assisted by Ms Mok Cheng Yoon, a certified Court Interpreter.

After considering the submissions from Jockey HK Cheng, Trainer HY Cheng and the Chief Stipendiary Steward, and reviewing the video replay, the Racing Stewards dismissed the Appeal. The penalty of four months’ suspension was enhanced to six months, to take effect from Monday, 16^th May 2022 and to expire on Tuesday, 15^th November 2022, both days inclusive. The fine of RM10,000/- remains in effect. The appeal deposit was forfeited.
