TILSWORTH JACOBI, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

THAI BAHT (KP Lim) shifted in from the whip from approximately the 100M-mark.

A post-race veterinary examination of I AM KHAN (Z Khairil) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Trainer K Coetzee was questioned with regards to the improved performance of PLACE YOUR BET (S Saddam) today. He explained that on a previous run on 28^th January 2023 , Jockey SU Lim had ridden the horse and he attempted to tuck the horse in but was unable to do so and raced to the front. Today, Jockey S Saddam was able to settle the horse and this, in his opinion, accounted for the improvement. His explanation was noted.

RACE 2 (R190) CLASS 5 (A) – 1300M

STORM TO WIN (Z Khairil) stumbled on jumping.

MOONGATE (CK Khaw) jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin.

INVICTUS WARRIOR (KP Lim) was slow into stride.

Shortly after the start, JULIUS CAESAR (M Ewe) had to steady when tightened for room between LEESTOWN EXPRESS (KC Tham) on its inside and BEIJING STAR (J Low) on its outside.

At approximately the 800M-mark, MOONGATE became crowded and had to steady when FIRST COMMAND (AK Lim) rolled inwards. Jockey AK Lim was shown the video of the incident and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

The whip of Jockey KC Tham (LEESTOWN EXPRESS) got entangled momentarily in the reins at approximately the 200M-mark.

Jockey KP Lim, the rider of INVICTUS WARRIOR, reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of INVICTUS WARRIOR revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that FIRE AWAY (HS Gill) returned having cast its near fore plate.

YOGI, a course scratching as it was sore off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

TESORO PUBLICO which was down 63kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Trainer S Cook was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for WINNING HOBBY (App S Sia).

LEGACY ROAR (KC Tham) jumped awkwardly inwards, brushing TESORO PUBLICO (App R Ruwaidy).

TRAFALGAR (App Z Syafifie) was slow into stride.

GOOD LUCK CHARM (App N Shahronnizam) was obliged to race wide on the turn.

WINNING HOBBY was hanging out from approximately the 300M-mark. App S Sia then changed his whip to his left hand and WINNING HOBBY shifted out badly in the latter stages. App S Sia, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, R Lines, was shown the video of his ride and warned that under such circumstances in the future, he should not change his whip to his left hand.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MAGNOLIA BLVD (Z Khairil) and TESORO PUBLICO revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that GOOD LUCK CHARM returned cut into its near hind pastern.

RACE 4 (R 192) CLASS 4 (A) – 1200M

ICE OUT SIXTY-ONE (AK Lim) jumped awkwardly outwards at the start.

STRAP MARKS (App S Shazmin) stumbled on jumping.

Jockeys Z Khairil and S Saddam, the respective rider of SOMAR and DIAMOND RUSH, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of SOMAR and DIAMOND RUSH revealed that both geldings returned lame near fore. As such, SOMAR and DIAMOND RUSH will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again. SOMAR was impounded for further analytical and veterinary examination.

A post-race veterinary examination of GOLD SKY BILLION (KC Tham) revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded for further analytical and veterinary examination.

RACE 5 (R193) RAPID STAKES A – 1200M

[SET-WEIGHT] [ONLY APPRENTICE ALLOWANCE PERMTTED]

MOON FACE and MOONGATE LIGHT are both course scratching. MOON FACE had sustained a bruised near fore foot and MOONGATE LIGHT had sustained a bruised near fore tendon. Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

BLEU MARINE (SS Vanan) was slow into stride.

The saddle on DIRECTOR (HK Cheng) slipped backwards in the running.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that NO FUN NO GAIN (AK Lim) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of six (6) months under MRA Rule 92(5)(a), (b) & (c) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of GRAND CROSS (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.

GENERAL NIX (R Narendran) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey R Narendran, the rider of GENERAL NIX, was shown the video of his ride and warned against the practice of using his whip when his mount is clearly out of contention.

BARBARIAN, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised right knee, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

PONTIANAK which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

As there was no suitable jockey available, the Stewards permitted App R Ruwaidy to replace Jockey KP Lim as the rider of MIRACLE CAPTAIN when the latter was medically stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

Shortly after the start, LEGACY WARRIOR (App Z Syafifie) was inconvenienced when PONTIANAK (SS Vanan) jumped awkwardly inwards, carrying KING POWER (KC Tham) inwards onto D’GREAT RICH (J Low).

Passing the 1000M-mark, MISS MICHELLE (HS Gill) was inconvenienced when FAST AND SUPER (S Saddam) carried CASTLE CHOICE (AK Lim) inwards. Jockey S Saddam was shown the video of the incident and warned to exercise more care in future.

At approximately the 700M-mark, CASTLE CHOICE had to steady when CROWN STAR (HK Cheng) rolled inwards. Jockey HK Cheng was shown the video of this incident and warned to exercise more care in future.

D’GREAT RICH and CROWN STAR which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of CASTLE CHOICE revealed no obvious abnormality.

SECOND CHANCE (M Ewe) raced wide from the 800M-mark to the 400M-mark.

Approaching the 150M-mark, GOLDEN SHOW (Z Khairil) rolled outwards slightly, resulting in NORTHERN STAR having to steady outwards over its heels for clear running.

DARK KNIGHT (App N Sharonnizam) was slow into stride.

Shortly after the start, EKRAAR PHOENIX (WK Lee) was crowded and had to steady when LEGACY FIGHTER (KC Tham) jumped awkwardly outwards.

A post-race veterinary examination of MISS THYRA (Z Khairil) revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey WK Lee, the rider of EKRAAR PHOENIX, was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that whilst riding EKRAAR PHOENIX, he unnecessarily restrained his mount on a number of occasions between the 1300M-mark and the 400M-mark and thereafter, he failed to ride EKRAAR PHOENIX with sufficient vigour and determination when his mount was running on strongly.

When deciding on a penalty, the Stewards took into account the facts of this case, Jockey WK Lee’s points of mitigation and his riding record. Jockey WK Lee was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months with effect from Monday, 20^th February 2023 and to expire on Monday, 19^th June 2023, both days inclusive. In addition, he was fined a sum of RM20,000/- (Malaysian Ringgit Twenty Thousand). He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6.35pm).

Trainer B Ng was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to fit a tongue-tie on PERFECT MISSION (KC Tham) as declared.

STAR GENIUS (S Saddam) and SORBETA (App S Sia) were both slow into stride.

App R Ruwaidy (QIJI LOVE) was shown the video of his ride in the straight. He explained that he got his whip entangled in the reins at approximately the 100M-mark which the Stewards were able to verify. However, App R Ruwaidy was warned that he must ride all his mounts in such a manner so as to leave no room for query.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SHENG PROISIR ((App N Sharonnizam) returned cut into its off hind lateral cannon.

A post-race veterinary examination of QIJI LOVE revealed no obvious abnormality.

Approaching the 1000M-mark, CHAR SIEW (KP Lim) which was pulling hard, bumped the hind quarters of LUCK HAPPY (M Ewe) and had to check. In this incident, LUCK HAPPY which was racing on the outside of CHAR SIEW became unbalanced and was inconvenienced.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BRISTOL DIAMOND (HS Gill) returned lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of CHAR SIEW revealed no obvious abnormality.

CLOUD SHADOW, a course scratching as it was injured near fore heel bulb, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer HS Lim was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for having fitted a tongue-tie on JEFFREY (SU Lim) when it was not declared. The Stewards ordered the removal of the tongue-tie.

Passing the 1200M-mark, CAPE LINCOLN was crowded and had to steady when GURNEY DRIVE (KP Lim) rolled inwards. Jockey KP Lim was shown the video of the incident and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

CAPE LINCOLN was shifting in from the whip in the latter stages, having to be straightened.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of LIM’S KEYWAY, reported that his mount was not striding out freely and was making abnormal respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of LIM’S KEYWAY revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of JEFFREY revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of CAPE LINCOLN, was questioned with regards to his ride in this race. The Stewards, having noted his explanation, were not entirely satisfied and warned him that he should not surrender his position so easily in future.

An Inquiry into the running and handling of JEFFREY (SU Lim) was opened and it was adjourned in order for Jockey SU Lim to call his witnesses. The Inquiry will resume on Saturday, 28^th January 2023 at the Perak Turf Club.

LUCK HAPPY which was down 19kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Passing the 300M-mark, BEIJING STAR (J Low) was crowded and had to check when RAISE ME UP (KP Lim) was shifting in from the whip. At a subsequent Inquiry, Jockey KP Lim pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) and was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) race days with effect from Sunday, 15^th January 2023 and to expire on Monday, 23^rd January 2023, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (3.05pm).

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by Jockey J Low, the rider of BEIJING STAR, placed fourth, against RAISE ME UP (KP Lim), placed third, on the grounds of alleged interference at approximately the 300M-mark. After considering the evidence and viewing the video replay, the Racing Stewards were satisfied that if not for this incident, BEIJING STAR would have finished ahead of RAISE ME UP and as such, upheld the objection and the placings were amended to read:

At approximately the 800M-mark, SUNNY STAR (S Ruzaini) shifted out to avoid the heels of YOU ARE GENIUS (SU Lim) and in so doing, bumped HERO CHAMPION onto the hind quarters of MAGIC SEVENTY TWO (App R Nuqman) who was unbalanced.

At approximately the 200M-mark, Jockey WK Lee, the rider of FIRST COMMAND, had his foot accidentally struck by Jockey AK Lim, the rider of CHIPS.

Jockey KP Lim, the rider of FUNKADELIC, reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of FUNKADELIC revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BROADWAY SUCCESS returned having cast its near fore plate and TWILL GUY returned with dorsal displacement soft palate and having cast its near fore plate. TWILL GUY will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey Z Khairil was questioned with regards to his ride on GOLDEN SHOW. He explained that the trainer wanted him to sit in approximately 4^th position and as such when he found himself in front, he steadied his mount. Trainer T Asogan confirmed these instructions. The Stewards noted their explanations.

YES BOSSY (HS Gill), which was difficult and unable to be boxed, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 4.47pm. YES BOSSY will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

SECKILL (R Narendran) jumped awkwardly outwards.

BITCOIN KING (KP Lim) jumped awkwardly inwards, resulting in LIM’S PIPER (App A Azizi) being crowded and slow into stride.

STAR GENIUS (AK Lim) was slow into stride.

Shortly after straightening, SHOWCASE THE GOLD (App Z Syafifie) rolled inwards and ran up to the heels of D’GREAT RICH (M Ewe) which also rolled outwards slightly.

RACE 1 (R1434) CLASS 5(B) – 1400M

PENANG MAN (HS Gill) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to race.

CLOUD SHADOW (SS Vanan) stumbled badly on jumping, resulting in Jockey SS Vanan losing his off side iron which he regained after approximately 100M.

SONG RIVER (M Yusri) commenced to give ground at approximately the 300M-mark. A veterinary examination was requested which revealed no obvious abnormality.

Approaching the 200M-mark, CALVADOS (App SN Shiva) rolled inwards from the whip, resulting in SNAGGLE PUSS (SU Lim) having to steady.The whip of Jockey AM Aizat (BOSSKU) broke during the running.

Jockey AM Aizat, the rider of BOSSKU and Jockey HS Gill, the rider of PENANG MAN, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of BOSSKU and PENANG MAN revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that CLOUD SHADOW returned with a cut to its near fore heel and will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. A post-race veterinary examination of SONG RIVER revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R1435) CLASS 5(B) – 1400M

PIT BULL which was up 31kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

As there was no suitable jockey available, the Stewards permitted App WW Cheah to replace Jockey AK Lim as the rider of WINNING SMILE, and App SN Shiva to replace Jockey Y Aify as the rider of MR ROCKWELL.

WINNING SMILE (App WW Cheah) was unable to proceed to the start and was extremely fractious and as such, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 2.41 pm. WINNING SMILE was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination and will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test (to be ridden unaided to the start) before being declared to race again.

MYSTICAL STAR (L De Souza) dipped on jumping and was slow into stride.

STAR CHOICE (KC Tham), SUNNY STAR (App R Nuqman) and GURNEY DRIVE (S Salee) were all slow to begin.

At approximately the 700M-mark, AMISTAD (App R Ruwaidy) was crowded and had to check when racing tight on the inside of ORION (AM Aizat). The Stewards deemed this to be a racing incident.

RISE OF THE LEGEND (SU Lim) shifted out from the whip from approximately the 250M-mark.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of KEEN DRAGON, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of KEEN DRAGON revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that PIT BULL (App K Pavinthran) returned having cast its off fore plate. A post-race veterinary examination of GURNEY DRIVE revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R1436) CLASS 5(B) – 1600M

TRINITY HONOR, a course scratching as it was bruised off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SPEEDY SWALLOW (M Yusri) which was difficult to be loaded, will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

LEEDSTHEWAY (App R Ruwaidy) was awkward at the crossing at approximately the 1500M-mark, unbalancing App R Ruwaidy.

SPEEDY SWALLOW and LITTLE MASTER (SU Lim) over-raced in the middle stages.

Approaching the 250M-mark, LITTLE MASTER had to steady momentarily when SHANGHAI CAPTAIN (KP Lim) had shifted in from the whip. Jockey KP Lim was shown the video of the incident and was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Jockey L De Souza, the rider of GENERAL ORDER, was shown the video of his ride in the straight with particular reference to the use of the whip. He was warned that in future, he should ride all his mounts so as to leave no room for query.

Jockeys R Rueven, HS Gill and L De Souza, the respective rider of JOYFUL, SOON YOU THINK and GENERAL ORDER, all reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of the 3 geldings revealed no obvious abnormality.

AIR BOSS and YOUARETHEBEST are both course scratching. AIR BOSS was sore off fore foot whilst YOUARETHEBEST was bruised right hip. Each gelding will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Jockey M Yusri, the rider of MAGIC CITY, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of MAGIC CITY revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R 1438) CLASS 4 (B) – 1200M

BLOOD ROYAL and BLACK AND WHITE, both course scratching as they had sustained a bruised off fore foot and was bruised right hip respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

NO REGRETS (S Salee) and STAR GENIUS (App SN Shiva) were both slow into stride.

At approximately the 250M-mark, SYMBOL OF COURAGE (L De Souza) was crowded and had to check when OUD WOOD (KC Tham) shifted inwards. At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey KC Tham pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) and was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) race days with effect from Monday, 26^th December 2022 and to expire on Sunday, 1^st January 2023, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4.40 pm).

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SYMBOL OF COURAGE returned with a superficial cut to its off hind tendon.

A post-race veterinary examination of NO REGRETS revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 6 (R1439) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M

YOU ARE GENIUS, a course scratching as it was bruised off fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MATILDA which was up 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

KNIGHT COMMAND (R Rueven) was slow into stride.

App R Ruwaidy, the rider of LEGACY ROAR, dropped his whip at approximately the 300M-mark. He was warned that a repetition may lead to a penalty being imposed.

Approaching the 200M-mark, LOUEY VELOCE (App A Nazir) attempted to salvage LOYALTY’S ANGEL (L De Souza).

A post-race veterinary examination of BATTLESTAR (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards inquired into the poor performance of SING ROULETTE (AM Aizat) today. Assistant Trainer Selvam was unable to offer any tangible explanation. Jockey AM Aizat reported that SING ROULETTE was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of SING ROULETTE revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination. The Stewards, having been mindful that this gelding had built up a pattern of inconsistent running, suspended SING ROULETTE under MRA Rule 117(3) for a period of two (2) months with effect from Sunday, 25^th December 2022 and to expire on Friday, 24^th February 2023, both days inclusive.

BAMSI BEY, MA BAO BAO, TILSWORTH MALI and WINTERFELL are all course scratching. BAMSI BEY had sustained respiratory allergy, MA BAO BAO was bruised off fore fetlock, TILSWORTH MALI had sustained sole bruise near fore and WINTERFELL was bruised off fore suspensory. Each horse will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Jockey KP Lim, the rider of AYAAN, reported that his mount was making an abnormal respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination of AYAAN revealed that this gelding had undergone corrective surgery previously and the Club Veterinary Surgeon was of the opinion that the abnormal respiratory noise made by AYAAN was due to the corrective surgery done.

At approximately the 600M-mark, ROCK ARTIST (S Salee) commenced to give ground. A post-race veterinary examination of ROCK ARTIST revealed no obvious abnormality, however the gelding cast its near fore plate on returning.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of TAIWAN CAPTAIN, reported that his mount did not act in the going. A post-race veterinary examination of TAIWAN CAPTAIN revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of LIM’S HOPEFULLY (M Ewe) revealed no obvious abnormality, however the gelding returned having cast its near fore plate.

TAIWAN CAPTAIN and ROCK ARTIST, which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

LUCK HAPPY, D’GREAT RISE and WHITE RABBIT, all course scratching as they had sustained a bruised off fore sole, bruised off fore suspensory ligament and sore back respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

DON’T FORGET THIS (L De Souza) which was difficult to be boxed, will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

HOUSEHOLD DYNASTY (M Yusri) which stood and was slow to begin, will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of MICHAELEARNSTOROCK (AK Lim) which raced poorly revealed no obvious abnormality. The mare will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Trainer S Shanmugam was questioned with regards to the improved performance of CHERISH (R Rueven) as compared to its run on 27^th November 2022. The only explanation he was able to offer was that this gelding had been working well and in his opinion, was suited to the 1400M distance. The Stewards were not entirely satisfied with his explanation and as such, his attention was drawn the rules regarding “in- and-out” running (MRA Rule 117(3)). Trainer S Shanmugam was further advised that should CHERISH prove to be inconsistent in the future, it may be suspended.

Acting on veterinary advice that ELITE SAINT (S Salee) was lame off fore, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 3.14 pm. ELITE SAINT will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

GOOD LUCK CHARM, a course scratching as it had a nail prick off fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

At approximately the 1000M-mark, MYO (L De Souza) was bumped by GOLDEN QUEEN (M Ewe) which was shifting in. Jockey M Ewe was shown the video of this incident and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of ZHU CAPTAIN, reported that his mount was not striding out freely and was making abnormal respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that ZHU CAPTAIN returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of SUPER SIXTYONE (Y Aify) revealed no obvious abnormality.

CAVALLA COURT and I’M SMART GREY, both course scratching as they had sustained float injury (swollen left hock and bruised right hip) and a bruised near fore suspensory ligament respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

GALILEO’S APPROACH which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

GEORGETOWN (SU Lim) jumped awkwardly inwards, brushing PERFECT MISSION (HK Cheng) and shortly thereafter, SUNNY FIGHTER (App WW Cheah) shifted inwards, carrying GEORGETOWN inwards.

BLEU MARINE (AM Aizat) over-raced in the early and middle stage of the race.

Jockey R Narendran, the rider of JET BLACK, dropped his off side rein at approximately the 350M-mark and regained it shortly thereafter. Jockey R Narendran was shown the video of his ride and was warned against the practice of using his whip when his horse is clearly out of contention.

A post-race veterinary examination of JET BLACK which raced poorly, revealed no obvious abnormality. JET BLACK will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Trainer K Ananthen was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to declare the use of blinkers on BRING IT WIN (AM Aizat) within the stipulated time.

LIM’S PIPER (KP Lim) was slow into stride.

SMOOTH OPERATOR (S Salee) jumped awkwardly inwards, bumping BANGKOK BOY (R Narendran).

A post-race veterinary examination of LIM’S PIPER which raced poorly, revealed no obvious abnormality. LIM’S PIPER will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

PLACE YOUR BET, BELLA VELOCE, COME AND TAKE ALL and PULAU PINANG are all course scratching. PLACE YOUR BET was bruised near fore fetlock, BELLA VELOCE had suffered multiple wounds from float injury, COME AND TAKE ALL was sore right shoulder and PULAU PINANG had sustained bruised off fore heels. Each horse will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

TWILL GUY, which was up 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

JULIUS CAESAR (SU Lim) jumped awkwardly.

SUNNY STAR (M Ewe) jumped awkwardly, brushing the outside gate and was slow into stride.

TRIPLE ONE STAR (App WW Cheah) and GAIN ECLIPSE (App A Nazir) raced tight between the 1100M and 1000M-mark.

The saddle on RAISE ME UP (S Salee) slipped forward in the running.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that TWILL GUY (AM Aizat) returned having cast its off fore plate.

POST-RACE ANALYSIS (EQUINE)

The report dated 8^th December 2022 (V22/187) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 27 coded urine and 27 sets of coded blood samples from the above- mentioned race meeting were received on 28^th November 2022 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

The report dated 8^th December 2022 (V22/188) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 2 coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 28^thNovember 2022, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

INQUIRY CONCERNING URINE SAMPLE CODED “J-6431” WHICH WAS TAKEN FROM JOCKEY S ZULFIKRI ON 12^th NOVEMBER 2022 AT THE PENANG TURF CLUB NOVEMBER MEETING 2022 RETURNING POSITIVE TO “MITRAGYNINE” WHICH IS A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE IN TERMS OF THE MRA RULES

The Stewards concluded the Inquiry into the above matter on Sunday, 18^th December 2022 at the Penang Turf Club. Evidence were taken from Jockey S Zulfikri and Dr. Chan Sue Hay, Chief Analyst of USains Biomics Laboratory.

Jockey S Zulfikri pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 136(3)(b) and the particulars of the charge were that a urine sample coded “J-6431”, submitted by him on 12^th November 2022 at the Penang Turf Club November Meeting 2022, upon analysis, revealed the presence of “Mitragynine”, which is a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules.

In deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey S Zulfikri’s guilty plea and his clean record. PNTC TRACKWORK – 24^TH NOVEMBER 2022

Trainer C Robert was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to ensure that GENERAL ORDER (V225) trained by him was properly saddled for trackwork on the morning of 24^th November 2022, resulting in the saddle slipping back and STR Sayuti being dislodged.

REPORT DATED 22^ND NOVEMBER 2022 FROM PNTC SECURITY DEPARTMENT AGAINST TRAINER LIM HOON SENG AND “B” TRAINER ARUMIGAM S/O PALANI

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, evidence were taken from Trainer Lim Hoon Seng, “B” Trainer Arumigam s/o Palani, Security Personnel Corporal Kamarulzaman bin Zakaria and S/G Muktar Singh s/o Gajjan Singh.

Trainer Lim Hoon Seng was found guilty of an act of misconduct under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that on 12^th November 2022 at about 8.40am, he had raised his voice and conducted himself in an inappropriate manner towards Security Personnel Corporal Kamarulzaman bin Zakaria and S/G Muktar Singh s/o Gajjan Singh for having allowed the Malaysian Police Officers to enter the stable area during curfew hours. Trainer Lim Hoon Seng was fined a sum of RM3,000/- (Ringgit Malaysia Three Thousand) and was advised of his Right of Appeal (7.00 pm).

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that GOOD LUCK CHARM (KC Tham) returned having cast its near fore plate and JET BLACK returned having cast both hind plates.

Assistant Trainer Lai Jet Shen was questioned with regards to the improved performance of VETRI (M Ewe) today. The only explanation he was able to offer was that in his opinion, this horse was suited to the Penang track and runs well here. He also stated that the field today was weaker than that previously. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the rules regarding “in-and-out” running (MRA Rule 117(3)).

At approximately the 1300M-mark, SONG RIVER (App A Azizi) shifted inwards, carrying FIRST SUCCESS (S Saddam), LEEDSTHEWAY (SS Vanan) and ORION ((S Zulfikri) inwards and thereafter, continued to shift inwards, carrying LIM’S HOPEFULLY (J Low) inwards which bumped TAIWAN CAPTAIN (Y Aify). At a subsequent Inquiry, App A Azizi, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, T Asogan, pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) and was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) race days with effect from Sunday, 23^rd October 2022 and to expire on Saturday, 5^th November 2022, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (2.10pm).

Jockey Y Aify, the rider of TAIWAN CAPTAIN, reported that his mount took no interest in the race despite being urged. A post-race veterinary examination of TAIWAN CAPTAIN revealed no obvious abnormality.

Trainer K Coetzee was questioned with regards to the disappointing performance of TAIWAN CAPTAIN. He explained that this horse has now run badly twice at Penang and he is of the opinion that possibly, the track does not suit this gelding. He further undertook to revert to the Stewards should he find anything in the week that may have accounted for the poor performance. His explanation was noted.

Post-race veterinary examinations of DAVINCI (M Yusri) and TWILL GUY (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality. DAVINCI which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

HAZARD and BLACK AND WHITE are both a course scratching. HAZARD had a nail prick off fore foot and BLACK AND WHITE had sustained a sole bruise off fore. Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer K Ananthen was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to seek the Stewards’ permission for Jockey Y Aify to ride 1½kg over on BAGHDAD within the stipulated time.

Jockey S Zulfikri was permitted under special circumstances to ride ½kg overweight on CHAR KWAY TEOW as there was no other suitable jockey available. He was however fined a sum of RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Rule 107(10).

Over the concluding stages, PERFECT MISSION (KC Tham) shifted out from the whip, crowding BAGHDAD (Y Aify) onto GOOD LUCK CHARM (App Z Syafifie).

Jockey S Zulfikiri was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Rule 107(10) when he was unable to make the carded weight on THAI BAHT. As there was no suitable jockey available, the Stewards granted permission for App A Azizi to replace Jockey S Zulfikiri as the rider of THAI BAHT.

PENANG GENERAL (S Saddam) stumbled on jumping.

THAI BAHT jumped awkwardly.

Approaching the 1300M-mark, SECKILL (R Rueven) steadied outwards over the heels of STAR EFFECT (J Low). Shortly thereafter, STAR EFFECT rolled outwards, carrying SECKILL outwards, resulting in MASTER JIANGMEN (App Clyde Leck) becoming crowded and having to steady. Jockeys J Low and R Rueven were shown the video of this incident and both were warned to exercise more care in future.

At approximately the 700M-mark, ZILFIKAR (SS Vanan) dipped.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that ZILFIKAR returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of OUD WOOD (KC Tham) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, the Stewards observed that the barrier on gate No. 5, having opened on terms, bounced back slightly. However, the Stewards were satisfied that this did not affect the start of WINTERFELL (SS Vanan).

At approximately the 250M-mark, NOVA PHOENIX (J Low) which was hanging in despite Jockey J Low’s attempt to keep straight, rolled inwards, brushing NEVERUNCONDITIONAL (App A Azizi).

Jockey SS Vanan, the rider of WINTERFELL, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of WINTERFELL revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of PARISBAS (App Z Syafifie) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey M Yusri, the rider of MAGICAL PARK, was warned against the practice of using his whip on a horse that is clearly out of contention.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by Jockey Y Aify, the rider of AIR BOSS, placed second, against PURPLE RAIN LADY (S Saddam), being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference in the straight. After considering the evidence, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the result stood. In addition, Jockey Y Aify was fined a sum of RM2,000 /- under MRA Rule 122(3) for making an objection which was deemed to be frivolous.

The report dated 13^th October 2022 (V22/153) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 32 coded urine and 34 sets of coded blood samples from the above- mentioned race meeting were received on 2^nd October 2022, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected except for sample coded “33885” which revealed the presence of “Testosterone”. After decoding this sample number, it was established that the sample was reported to have been taken from the horse “FANTASTIC ECLIPSE” which won in Race 7 on 2^nd October 2022 at the Perak Turf Club October Meeting 2022.

Upon investigation, it was established that FANTASTIC ECLIPSE, trained by Trainer F Maynard, is a stallion and not a gelding. However, in the post-race urine collection form for FANTASTIC ECLIPSE on the day in question, the gender of FANSTASTIC ECLIPSE was erroneously stated as “gelding” instead of “stallion”.

Vide e-mail dated 20^th October 2022, Dr. Shri Kanth, Official Veterinary Surgeon of Selangor Turf Club confirmed that FANTASTIC ECLIPSE is a 7-year-old stallion and not a gelding. He further stated that the positive results to Testosterone is due to endogenous production of an intact male and as such, the analytical result should be considered negative in this case.

Taking into consideration the above circumstances, the Stewards were satisfied that the presence of Testosterone in urine sample coded “33885” was due to FANTASTIC ECLIPSE being a stallion and not a gelding and therefore took no further action on the matter.

PARISBAS (App R Nuqman), when racing tight at approximately the 600M-mark, was inconvenienced slightly between HYDRANT (App Clyde Leck) and NOVA DASHING (AM Aizat).

Between the 200M-mark and the 100M-mark, LEEDSTHEWAY (App S Sia) was held tight on the inside of D’GREAT MAGIC (J Low). Jockey J Low was shown the video of the incident and warned to give sufficient room to runners on his inside under similar circumstances in future.

RACE 2 (R1180) CLASS 5(A) – 1300M

App R Nuqman was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Rule 107(10) for failing to make the carded weight on PENANG MAN. The Stewards permitted App SN Shiva to replace App R Nuqman as the rider of PENANG MAN.

App A Saran (GOLD SKY TRILLION) was fined RM500/- under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Rule 44(2) for failing to arrive on course at least 1 hour prior to the advertised time of his first carded engagement.

PULAU PINANG (App Z Syafifie) was re-saddled at the start. Acting on a report from the Official Starter, Trainer C Robert was warned that in future, he must pay greater attention to the saddling of his runners, failing which action may be taken against him.

GOLD SKY TRILLION jumped awkwardly outwards, making contact with GUILTY PLEASURES (App Clyde Leck).

NOVA PHOENIX (SU Lim) raced wide in the early and middle stages.

The saddle on PULAU PINANG slipped backwards in the running.

At approximately the 900M-mark, CHIPS (J Low) became crowded and was inconvenienced when PULAU PINANG rolled inwards slightly.

Jockeys R Rueven and AM Aizat, the respective rider of JULIUS CAESAR and D’GREAT STRIKE, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of JULIUS CAESAR and D’GREAT STRIKE revealed no obvious abnormality. D’GREAT STRIKE which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that GOLD SKY TRILLION returned lame near fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again. Despite this report, the Stewards were not satisfied with the manner in which this gelding was ridden and decided to open an Inquiry into the running and handling of GOLD SKY TRILLION.

After taking evidence from Trainer K Ananthen, the trainer of GOLD SKY TRILLION and App A Saran in the presence of his Employing Trainer, T Asogan and after reviewing the video. App A Saran was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) as read with MRA Rule 44(8)(a) in that whilst riding GOLD SKY TRILLION, he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that GOLD SKY TRILLION was given full opportunity of winning or of obtaining the best possible placing.

The particulars of the charge were that:-

at about the 1100M-mark, he took his mount approximately 6 horses wide for no apparent reason;
he continued to race 5-6 horses wide around the turn and into the straight, covering unnecessary ground;
he entered the home straight wide and took hold of his mount in the straight, restraining it when it was running on strongly, finishing in second place, 1 length off the winner.

When deciding on the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the facts of this case, App A Saran’s riding record and his points of mitigation. After considering the provisions of MRA Rule 44(8)(a), App A Saran was disqualified from riding in races for a period of twelve (12) months with effect from Sunday, 9^th October 2022 and to expire on Sunday, 8^th October 2023, both days inclusive. In addition, he was fined a sum of RM30,000/- (Malaysian Ringgit Thirty Thousand). He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6.55pm).

BEST TO ROCK, a course scratching as it had sustained a nail prick off fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

QIJI LOVE (App R Nuqman) broke through the barrier and galloped a short distance, was apprehended, checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.

BIG BUS (AM Aizat) and PENANG GENERAL (R Rueven) bumped on jumping.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BIG BUS returned having cast its off fore plate.

Trainer CC Ooi was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for STRONG N POWERFUL (App R Nuqman).

BERRY BLISS (App Clyde Leck) jumped awkwardly inwards at the start.

Approaching the 600M-mark, BERRY BLISS steadied off the hind quarters of CHINA CAPTAIN (Y Aify) which was improving on its outside.

Approaching the 300M-mark, BERRY BLISS was carried wide by STRONG N POWERFUL which shifted out.

Passing the 200M-mark, ARC TRIUMPH (SU Lim) rolled out against the whip under pressure.

App R Nuqman, the rider of STRONG N POWERFUL, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of STRONG N POWERFUL revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of MR CROWE (App S Sia) revealed no obvious abnormality. MR CROWE which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

SMART WARRIOR, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

LEGACY WARRIOR, a course scratching as it had a fracture medial sesamoid bone, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Acting on veterinary advice that MAZANZE (Y Aify) had sustained abrasion wound on both fore arms, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 5.05 pm. MAZANZE will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Prior to the start, Trainer T Asogan advised the Stewards that DREAMS CAN BE REAL (M Yusri) has a tendency to hang in very badly. The Stewards noted in the race that DREAMS CAN BE REAL was difficult to ride and was hanging in badly throughout.

MYSTICAL STAR (K Eirwan) and DREAMS CAN BE REAL were both slow into stride.

Shortly after the start, TONGARIRO (AM Aizat) shifted in from the whip, inconveniencing MERRY BELL (R Rueven). Jockey AM Aizat was shown the video of this incident and was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

The report dated 6^th October 2022 (V22/151) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 2 bottles of coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 26^th September 2022 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected except for sample coded J-6426, which upon analysis, was tested positive to “Amphetamine Methamphetamine Mitragynine”, a prohibited substance.

Upon decoding, it was established that sample coded J-6426 was provided by App Z Ahmad. App Z Ahmad was notified of the finding from Usains Biomics Laboratory through his Employing Trainer, S Hamilton on Friday, 7^th October 2022. He was also informed of the provisions of MRA Rule137 and MRA Regulation 46 with regard to the Referee Sample.

Under MRA Rule 136(3), App Z Ahmad is stood down from riding races and riding track-work, barrier trials and tests with immediate effect, pending an Inquiry being conducted at a date to be fixed.

GENERAL REPORT – PRTC

INQUIRY INTO THE POST–RACE URINE SAMPLE CODED “33815” TAKEN FROM RACEHORSE “BLUE EYED BOY” WHICH FINISHED 2^ND PLACING IN RACE 2 (R1040) CLASS 5(B) -1400M(lc) – PEDU LAKE HANDICAP, SATURDAY, 3^RD SEPTEMBER 2022, DAY 1, PERAK TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2022 WHICH RETURNED POSITIVE TO “KETOPROFEN”, A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE IN TERMS OF THE MRA RULES

The Panel of Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the above matter on Friday, 7^th October 2022 at the Perak Turf Club.

Evidence was taken from Trainer Evert Van Breukelen, the trainer of BLUE EYED BOY, Dr. Chan Sue Hay, Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory, Dr. Reza Singam, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, PRTC.

Trainer EV B’kelen pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(13) and punishable under MRA Rule 134(7) in that he as the Trainer and person responsible for presenting and accepting to run BLUE EYED BOY in the above race in which it finished 2^nd placing and its post-race urine sample coded “33815” subsequently upon analysis, had returned positive to Ketoprofen, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules.

When deciding on the penalty, the Stewards took into account Trainer EV B’kelen’s guilty plea, mitigating factors and his previous record. Trainer EV B’kelen was fined a sum of RM30,000/- (Ringgit Malaysia Thirty Thousand). He was informed of his Right of Appeal (3.03pm).

In terms of MRA Rule 134(11), BLUE EYED BOY was disqualified from the above race and the results will be amended accordingly.

BLUE EYED BOY will be subjected to provide a clearing sample under MRA Rule 134 (12) before being declared to race again.

INQUIRY CONCERNING URINE SAMPLE CODED “J-3879” WHICH WAS TAKEN FROM APP M EKDIHAR ON 4^THSEPTEMBER 2022 AT THE PERAK TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2022 RETURNING POSITIVE TO “MITRAGYNINE” WHICH IS A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE IN TERMS OF THE MRA RULES

The Panel of Stewards concluded the Inquiry into the above matter on Friday, 7^th October 2022 at the Perak Turf Club.

Evidence was taken from App M Ekdihar in the presence of his Employing Trainer, SY Lim, and Dr. Chan Sue Hay, Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory.

App M Ekdihar pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 136(3) (b) and the particulars of the charge were that a urine sample coded J-3879, submitted by him on 4^th September, 2022 at the Perak Turf Club September Meeting 2022, upon analysis, revealed the presence of Mitragynine, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules.

In deciding on the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account his guilty plea and his clean record. App M Ekdihar was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) months backdated to Saturday, 17^th September 2022 on which is the date when he was stood down from riding and to expire on Thursday, 16^th March 2023, both dates inclusive. He was informed of his Right of Appeal (2.25pm).

Apprentice M Ekdihar was informed that he would be required to provide a clear urine sample for analysis before resuming riding track work/barrier trials and tests.
