Trainer Johnny Lim’s Shellomanda should develop into a top class stayer judging from the smashing win in Stayers Stakes B over 1800m in Race 6 last Sunday. The six-year-old by Mastercraftsman with Jockey HS Gill on board was in mid field most of the journey and made a determined bid in the final 300m to win in a convincing manner. Do not rule out Frank Maynard’s Gassur who finished a game second. The five-year-old by Alamosa took the lead momentarily but could not match the finishing burst of Shellomanda. Richard Lines’s trained D Great Vulture will soon race in top class company. The five-year-old by Excuse Needed with Apprentice CK Khaw in the saddle was in close touch with the early leaders and came with a well time run to beat Lim’s Casino. Trainer Simon Dunderdale’s Sun Dancer bears watching with more wins in store. The seven-year-old by Onemorenomore with Jockey Jose De Souza on board hit the front when the heads turn for home and raced unchallenged beating Full Bet.
Trainers Richard Lines and Charles Leck had to share the honours with three winners each in the card of 12 races at the concluded race meeting at Selangor Turf Club last Sunday.
Richard Lines saddled 62 winners and has moved away from his nearest challenger Frank Maynard who has a tally of 53 winners.
Richard Lines started his winning note in Race 4 with Energizer (Oscar Chavez), marched on with D Great Vulture (CK Khaw) in Race 8 and the following event with Sea World (CK Khaw).
While Charles Leck was successful in Race 3 with Premium Stars (S Ruzaini), High Council (S Suriya) in Race 7 and in Race 10 with King Opera (S Ruzaini).
Trainer SY Lim had an early double with Machung Star (SU Lim) in the opening event and Elegent (WK Lee) in the following event.
Trainers Frank Maynard (Tiger Bay, Race 5), Johnny Lim (Shellomada, Race 6), Simon Dunderdale (Sun Dancer, Race 11) and Lawson Moy (Brilliant Star, Race 12) all saddled a winner each.
On the Jockeys’ front, Apprentice CK Khaw rode three winners in Tiger Bay (Race 5), D Great Vulture (Race 8) and Sea World (Race 9).
Jockey S Ruzaini rode a double in Premium Star (Race 3) and King Opera (Race 10).
While Jockeys SU Lim (Machung Star, Race 1), Apprentice WK Lee (Elegent, Race 2), (Oscar Chavez (Energizer, Race 4), HS Gill (Shellomada, Race 6), A Suriya (High Council, Race 7), Jose De Souza (Sun Dancer, Race 11) and A Aucharuz (Brilliant Star, Race 12) all rode a winner each.
