RACE 9 (R1195)       CLASS 5 A  – 1775M (Track II) 

 At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey A Suriya, the rider of MAINSTREAM, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in at about the 1000M when insufficiently clear of KALA GHODA causing him to check and lost some ground.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey A Suriya’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 6 November 2023 and to expire on 19 November 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5:45pm).

STEWARDS’ REPORT – SATURDAY, 4^TH NOVEMBER 2023

RACE 5 (R1170) GREEN EMERALD HANDICAP CLASS 5(A) 1300M(LC) –  SUNDAY, 29^TH OCTOBER 2023 

The Panel of Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the running and handling of STORM TO WIN today, Saturday, 4^th November 2023. 

After taking evidence from Jockey MM Firdaus, the rider of STORM TO WIN and Acting Trainer HS Lim and reviewing all angles of the race video, Jockey MM Firdaus was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge are that:

• After jumping from the 1300M-mark, he remained in a wide position until the 600M-mark, thereby covering unnecessary ground and thereby failed to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

When deciding on a penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey MM Firdaus’s riding records and his points of mitigations.   He was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) months, effective from Monday, 6^th November 2023 and to expire on 5^th May 2024, both dates inclusive.    He was advised of his right of appeal (3:15pm).

RACE 7 (R1172) KINGSTONE RUBY HANDICAP – CLASS 5(B) 1300M(LC) – SUNDAY, 29^TH OCTOBER 2023 

The Panel of Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the running and handling of JAKAMA PEGASUS today, Saturday, 4^th November 2023.

After taking evidence from App Z Syafifie in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer K Coetzee, Acting Trainer HS Lim and Assistant Trainer R Burnett and reviewing all angles of the above race, App Z Syafifie, the rider of JAKAMA PEGASUS was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(8), as read with Rule 44(8)(a) for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that JAKAMA PEGASUS was given a full opportunity of obtaining the best possible placing.

The particulars of the charge are that:

• He failed to give sufficient reins on jumping, resulting in JAKAMA PEGASUS jumping awkwardly and losing considerable ground, thereby racing at the back of the field, which was contrary to his instructions;
• He failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination from the 500M-mark to the finish.

When deciding on a penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration App Z Syafifie’s riding records and his points of mitigations.   He was disqualified his points of mitigations.   for a period of one (1) year with immediate effect, i.e. from 4^th November 2023 and to expire on 3^rd November 2024, both dates inclusive.  He was advised of his right of appeal (12:50pm).
