SLTC to Reintroduce Novelty Races
The Selangor Turf Club will reintroduce the running of Novelty Races on selected race days for the remaining of 2019 racing season.
Speaking at the Club’s Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 25 June 2019 at the Club, the Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Richard Cham Hak Lim said that despite the challenging environment, Selangor Turf Club has managed to achieve a record high of near to 700 horses in their stables, 18 trainers and 31 Jockeys and Apprentice Jockeys to hold approximately 40 on-course race days, with up to 400 races.
He further added, “In order to cater to the increase in number of horses, the Club has increased the number of races and will re-introduce the Novelty Races in the remaining season of year 2019. The Stake Money Distribution Scheme would also be restructured to optimize the race cost over time to a manageable level and to accommodate the increase in the number of races”.
At the Meeting, the Chairman also announced the retirement of the Club’s esteem and long standing Committee Member, YAM Tunku Dato’ Seri Shahabuddin, who had previously served as the Chairman of the Club from 1998 to 2009. The Chairmen further expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to Tunku for his invaluable contribution to the Committee and Selangor Turf Club.
