WITNESSIMPACT

Talented 5yo WITNESSIMPACT (4) should be favoured to win the 1200m Wilyah Silver Bowl (Race 8) on Sunday with Jerlyn Seow to retain the mount. Singapore’s leading apprentice from last year simply dictated the pace after leading on the son of Star Witness maintaining a solid clip throughout in defeating local star Antipodean over the 1200m trip. WITNESSIMPACT (4) goes up 5.5kg under set weights and will be searching for win number six from seven starts in the RM 100,000 feature.

Some former Singapore runners making their local debuts should provide some stiff opposition with the likes of PACIFIC VAMPIRE (3) and SACRED BUDDY (9) given genuine chances based on trial form. PACIFIC VAMPIRE (3) has not raced since finishing last in the Singapore Gold Cup on October 5 after setting a solid pace in front. It was an optimistic path to take considering the 5yo had never won beyond 1200m previously and discovered the 2000m journey an arduous task. Back to his favourite trip where he has won 3 from 5, he can easily bounce back without surprising.

SACRED BUDDY (9) remains unbeaten first up in two preparations and looks primed first up for the Simon Dunderdale stable following an impressive trial display on January 14.

Another ex Kranji performer, ANIKI (6) has got some early pace and will be prominent for a long way. The 5yo has only missed a place once in seven attempts over 1200m and his Class 3 form in Singapore was quite solid. FLYING NEMO (5) was beaten a short head behind WITNESSIMPACT (4) in a recent trial and is a handy sit sprint type with a good first up record.

MILITARY FLAG

The 1100M Metro A contest (Race 6) has a attracted a small but quality lineup with Malaysia highest rated galloper AWESOME STORM (1) heading the weights. The 7yo resumes from a three month break and will be hoping to recapture form he displayed here three seasons back when he dominated the local scene.

He goes up against a few progressive types including SUPER SALUTE (2) who was far from disgraced when finishing 5L 3rd behind Witnessimpact first up and will strip fitter this time around. A proven G2 performer in Singapore, the 6yo should be competitive in this grade and will be one of the major players.

FLAWLESS (8) has received a change of name (ex-Revue), a change in ownership and a change of trainer in his quest to chalk up the winning hat trick this weekend. Impressive victories in both local starts over 1300m and 1400m respectively, he will be a force to be reckoned with again with 2.5kg less to carry on the slight class rise.

MILTARY FLAG (6) produced 6 wins from 14 starts in his initial campaign and this talented 4yo will make his presence felt against the high graders in coming weeks. It is a tough assignment first up after three months but he does possess a touch of class.

CHINESE TEA (5) can beat these if he strikes his best form and his record at Metro A level (4 wins from 8 starts) stands him in good stead as he returns from a short break. TE AKAU BEN (7) makes his local debut and is worth considering while KING ARTHUR (3) received no luck when resuming here on December 1.
