SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2022

SUNDAY, 11 SEPTEMBER 2022

RACE 10 (R1084)     CLASS 4 (A) – 1100M (A SHORT COURSE) 

 At the conclusion of an inquiry, App M Ekdihar  the rider of BIG BAD MAMA, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, SY Lim, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that, he permitted his horse to drift out in the straight, causing GENERAL NIX to check near the 125M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App M Ekdihar’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 12 September 2022 and to expire on 18 September 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

 SATURDAY, 10 SEPTEMBER 2022

RACE 5 (R1067)       CLASS 4 (A) – 1250M (A LONG COURSE) 

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App WW Cheah , the rider of DRONE, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, R Lines, was found guilty of a charge of incompetent riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(iii) in that:

1. He rode DRONE to lead by an inordinate margin mid-race; and
2. He looked around more than four (4) occasions, actions which interfered with his proper riding to ensure his horse was given full opportunity of winning the race.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App WW Cheah’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Further, the Stewards considered similar penalties under the same Rule. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month, to be deferred, with effect from 19 September 2022 and to expire on 18 October 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 6 (R1068) CLASS 4 (B) – 1250M (A LONG COURSE)      

After taking evidence from Jockey HS Gill  (WISHUPONASTAR) and the gelding’s Trainer, BT Lim, the Stewards found Jockey HS Gill guilty of a charge under 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being:

1. He restrained the gelding on jumping, resulting in the gelding having to be ridden wide; and
2. His whip use in the straight, lacked validity and was in contrast to usage on other occasions.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey HS Gill’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) months with effect from 12 September 2022 and to expire on 11 December 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal

RACE 7 (R1069)       OPEN MAIDEN (WFA) – 1500M (A SHORT COURSE) 

After taking evidence from Jockey S Ruzaini   (NORTHERN STAR) and the gelding’s Trainer, HY Cheng, the Stewards found Jockey S Ruzaini guilty of a charge under 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards in that he failed to exercise sufficient vigour and purpose in his riding of NORTHERN STAR in the straight.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Ruzaini’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months, to be deferred, with effect from 19 September 2022 and to expire on 18 November 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
