Leck Saddles a Quintuple
The stables of trainer Charles Leck were in terrific form when saddled five winners in the card of 12 races at Selangor Turf Club last Sunday.
They got off in the opening event with Phantasos (S Ruzaini), then in Race 4 with Nova Racing (Ruzaini), in the following event with Marea Negro (S Anandan), in Race 7 with Star Invincible (Ruzaini) and in Race 10 with King Opera (Ruzaini).
Still in third spot in the Trainers’ Championship Table with 58 winners, as leading trainer Richard Lines drew blank with no winners maintaining the record of 70 winners.
Frank Maynard is in second spot with 63 winners saddling a winner in Race 11 with Commodore Lincoln (Oscar Chavez).
Trainer SY Lim got a double in Race 2 with We’re The World (WK Lee) and in the last event of the day with Immortality (C.Goon).
Trainers with single winner are Mohd Sukri in Race 3, (Ghost Emperor/CK Khaw), Lawson Moy in Race 6 (Laughing Buffalo/ HS Gill), Tan Soo Beng in Race 8 (Gariza/ Chaves) and Johnny Lim (Lim’s Casino/HS Gill).
Leading Jockey S Ruzaini was also in great form when rode three winners, all with trainer Charles Leck’s horses.
Ruzaini greeted the judges in Race 4 with Nova Racing, in Race 7 with Star Invincible and in Race 10 with King Opera and is currently with 47 winners.
Jockeys HS Gill and Oscar Chavez both rode a . Gill rode Laughing Buffalo in Race 6 and Lim’s Casino in Race 9 while Chavez rode Gariza in Race 8 and Commodore Lincoln in Race 11.
Jockeys with single winner are Apprentice N. Varmah (Phantasos – Race 1), WK Lee (We’re The World – Race 2), CK Khaw (Ghost Emperor – Race 3), S. Anandan (Mareo Hegro – Race 5) and Calvin Goon (Immortality – Race 12).
Horse to follow
Trainer Lawson Moy’s newcomer, Good Intentions, should break the ice soon, judging from an eye-catching third to Star Invincible in Race 7.
The five-year-old by Roc De Cambes with Jockey A. Aucharuz on board was in close touch with the early leaders and ran on gamely to finish on board.
Trainer Tan Soo Beng’s Gariza showed a return to form with a gallant victory in Metro A event over 1300m in Race 8.
The five-year-old by E Dubai displayed a great potential to race in better company and should be suited even over longer trip.
Keep a close watch on Mewtwo, should break the ice soon.
The four year-old by Dick Trupin with Jockey Calvin Goon on board came with a flourishing run at the closing stages of the race to finish second to Phantasos in the opening event.
