4 January 2025, Kuala Lumpur

Heart Of Fire was an impressive winner in the penultimate race of the afternoon going start to finish in front under Al Da Silva who rode a double on the day. The HY Cheng trained runner went off at very generous odds considering the horses he’s faced in the past. He went off the boil slightly in his last two runs but bounced back to best and won by over 4 lengths.

Two trainers celebrated a double on the day with champion trainer from 2024, Simon Dunderdale, winning races 4 and 5 with Fort Mustang as well as Ong Mari who finished off his race extremely well despite the yielding going and the sudden downpour of rain for that race. He certainly looks like a sort that should win his fair share of races in Malaysia.

SUMMER WIND

K Ananthen also had a race to race double with Storm Pegasus in race 6 – the first of Al Da Silva’s double – followed by Maze in race 7 under champion jockey of 2024, S Ruzaini. Completing the day, Summer Wind continued the trend of going start to finish in front on Track 2 and made it two wins in as many weeks for the new trainer amongst the Selangor training ranks, J Ong.

The remaining races were won by Cash King in race 1 who showed a devastating turn of foot to win going away in the first race. A similar case can be made for Selangor Star who won in the following race under R Nuqman for BT Lim; Flying Success won a good race in the third for F Maynard under AK Lim to open up his Malaysian account after finishing second in his local debut.

Racing returns next week Sunday on the 12th of January.
