Kuala Lumpur, 15 November 2024

Nine races take place on Sunday the 17th of November and after a favourable day for punters last week, they’ll be hoping the trend continues this upcoming Sunday. Not only is there exciting racing on offer but this meeting also marks the first runners sent out by trainer CW Choi as he’ll be represented by eight runners throughout the day with the likes of Oriental Halflamma and Wealthyness who look to be competitive each way chances in both of their respective races in race 6 & 9.

BERRY BLISS

When assessing the card, on paper Gulf Eagle looks hard to oppose in race 4, after three consecutive wins in Malaysia, but this is by far his toughest task to date. At the weights, he has to step his game up considerably due to the fact that Berry Bliss from the J Leck stable, has the apprentice S Bahauddin aboard claiming 4kgs. This brings down his weight to 55kgs whereas Gulf Eagle has 54kgs to shoulder. A difference in 1kgs despite a difference of 31 points in the ratings. Berry Bliss is dropping in class from a G1 to a Metro A with only 55kgs to carry certainly makes him a big runner, especially dropping back to the 1400m trip where he finished second to Antipodean in his penultimate start. Therefore, a chance is taken on Berry Bliss to defeat the upcoming Gulf Eagle but either way, it sure would be great to see Gulf Eagle to continue to soar in Malaysia.

SURFIE BOY

Surfie Boy in race 7 heads up as one of the leading selections for the day. His last race he won in an impressive manner after two seconds since relocating to Malysia. He beat a horse called Silver Samurai in that field who came out last week to win by no less than 5 lengths. With that form behind him, it does seem like he is capable of stepping up to Class 3 level and winning. In the penultimate race of the afternoon, Lim’s Sinai steps out again and brings consistent form to the race. He has yet to miss the first two in Malaysia from four starts and seems perfectly placed in Class 4 to give another honest account of himself. The danger could be R Lines’s Miracle Star who finished behind Red Dragonfly last time out and that winner has subsequently won again.

If you’re in the area make sure to come to the Selangor Turf Club for a great day of racing, as the build up towards the 2024 Piala Emas Sultan Selangor starts to gain traction.
