STEWARDS’ REPORT – PERAK MARCH MEETING 2022

DAY 1, SATURDAY – 19^th MARCH 2022

RACE 8 (R339)         OPEN MAIDEN (WFA) – 1400m (lc)                   

An Inquiry was opened today into the running and handling of SEVEN SUNDAE, ridden by App I Firdzriel and trained by Trainer HY Cheng.   Evidence was taken from App I Firdzriel in the presence of his acting trainer, Trainer KF Wong and Trainer HY Cheng.  After reviewing the race videos, App I Firdzriel was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge were that:

1)  App I Firdzriel failed to give sufficient reins on jumping;

2)  Failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination in the straight.

Thereby, failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account his disciplinary records and mitigating factors.   App I Firdzriel was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months, effective from Sunday, 20^th March 2022 and to expire on Tuesday, 19^th July 2022, both dates inclusive.   In addition, he was fined the sum of RM10,000/-  He was advised of his right of appeal (6.10pm).

RACE 10 (R351)       CLASS 4 (B) – 1100M (A4 SHORT COURSE) 

On inquiry, Jockey KC Wong (MADE IN CHINA) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that for shifting in at this stage.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey KC Wong’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) Malaysian race days with effect from 21 March 2022 and to expire on 3 April 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
