28 December 2024, Kuala Lumpur

The final race meeting for the year for the Selangor Turf Club treated us to some thrilling finishes, some favourable results, trebles and doubles for both trainers and jockeys with a few favourites arriving for favourite backers.

David Kok celebrated a treble on the day, with the Pacific Stable owners, which included all of Pacific Dream; Pacific Bao Bei and Pacific Angel who closed off the race meeting as well as the calendar year for 2024. The Pacific Stable will be delighted as they also celebrated a winner with the newly arrived J Ong yard who produced Pacific Victory in race 6 with a rather comfortable win by over 1 length and gave a quadruple of winners for the owners. Trainer N Selvan also celebrated a race-to-race double with Single Warrior, who is now two from two in Malaysia, as well as Contarelli in race 5 who had the run of the race and was able to fend off the late challengers.

PACIFIC VICTORY

Jockey PH Seow also joined the double ranks with both wins in the silks of the Pacific Stable in races 3 and 6 aboard Pacific Bao Bei and Pacific Victory. L De Souza fit the same bill celebrating a double which started off in the first race aboard Pacific Dream as well as The Star in the penultimate race of the day in a tightly contested race with a top ride by the jockey who was able to time his ride to perfection.

The most impressive winner on the day would have to be in race 7 when No More Delay destroyed the field by winning with a margin of over 8 lengths. The rain started to pour down at the STC and jockey SU Lim applied front running tactics from gate 1 aboard the W Lim trained runner and came back with a clean set of silks with no kickback as he went start to finish in front. He’s now three from four starts in Malaysia and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Red Dragonfly was also amongst the highlights as he kept his unbeaten record in Malaysia intact as he is now four wins from as many starts and continues to impress.

RED DRAGONFLY

Plenty of highlights for the day and a great way to close off the 2024 year. On behalf of the Selangor Turf Club, we wish all our patrons a happy new year and will see you next week for the start of the 2025 year.
