One of the most prestigious races on the Malaysian racing calendar, the Group 1 Piala Emas Sultan Selangor (2000m), will attract a top-class field of 16 contenders at Selangor Turf Club this Sunday afternoon.

At the forefront is the quality six-year-old BERRY BLISS, who has been in excellent form recently, though he faces a tough challenge with top weight. Former Singapore galloper DREAM ALLIANCE makes his local debut in this Group 1 feature after a commendable fourth-place finish in the G1 Grand Singapore Gold Cup in early October. Based on his form, he looks like the one to beat, though there is some concern about whether his fitness will be spot-on first-up.

Horses carrying lighter weights often pose a serious threat in staying races. Among them are EASY BREEZY, a son of Dynasty who is sure to appreciate the step up in distance, and LUCKY MAGIC, who has shown consistent form since day one, albeit in lower grades. Another contender, MEGA GEMS, who previously raced in Macau, shocked punters with an impressive win in the G1 Coronation Cup at his third start in Malaysia and now aims for back-to-back victories at the highest level. Other serious challengers include CHEVAL BLANC, GOLDEN PEGASUS, and GOOD FIGHT, all of whom have the potential to claim victory.
