Tham Kim Chong better known as KC Tham, started off as a syce with trainer KH Ng in March 2009. He was eventually upgraded to become a track rider later that year after earning his working experience from trainer KH Ng, J McGillivrary & N Azman.
While attached to trainer Nor Azman, KC Tham was granted “C” Grade Apprentice license in 2012 which allowed him to ride in race trials. In 2013 he was granted “B” Grade license which allowed him to ride races and he was also indentured to Trainer BT Lim and PK Leong in the later part of his apprenticeship.
In 2014, KC Tham was invited to participate in the South Africa Asian Young Gun Apprentice Challenge and he managed to emerge as the winner.
In 2018, he decided to take a sabbatical from race riding and went to Singapore to become a track work rider. After 3 years in Singapore, he decided to resume race riding and was granted a Professional Jockey license in Malaysia.
In 2022 he clinched the Perak Coronation Cup astride ELITE REMARKABLE. He has recorded over 100 winners in his career as a jockey.
