Platinum Racing Stables Sparks A New Era
16 January 2025, Kuala Lumpur
A new dawn for ownership in Malaysia as the Platinum Racing Stables step out their first runners on Sunday the 19th of January as part of an eleven race program at the Selangor Turf Club. The Platinum Racing Syndication consists of nine horses which are all under the care of CW Choi who has made quite the impression since moving to Malaysia. This is the first ever syndication for MRA.
Platinum Glory steps out in race 7 in a Max Two event over 1400m. XC Liang will take the ride and claim 2kgs. He’s an Australian bred gelding by Showtime out of Capucines. He’s had the one trial to date where he finished second behind Pacific Star by a head. He jumped on speed in that trial but had to travel wide for most of the trip and was urged along quite a bit by XC Liang suggesting he’ll appreciate the step up to 1400m on Sunday as the 1000m distance is too short for him.
The next representative is Platinum Priority who is the top weight in race 10 in a class 3 over 1020m on Track 2. He was a wide draw to overcome from barrier 9 but with S Ruzaini in the saddle, he should be able to find a position for him to settle. He is 6 year old Australian bred gelding by Duporth out of Nurmaah with a rating of 74. He jumped well in his trial but was quickly passed by a few runners and was able to settle a few lengths off the early speed and was able to quicken down the inside when he was asked the question by XC Liang. He trialled against horses that are comfortably feature race quality and he could have a strong each-way chance if he is able to get a position and not kept wide from the wide gate.
The other horses in the syndicate include Platinum Emperor; Platinum Royale; Platinum Fort; Platinum Boss; Platinum Harvest; Platinum Legacy and Platinum Universal who’ll all be making their local debuts in the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye out for the new silks and members who I’m sure will be ecstatic about the opportunity and the added bonus of the increased stakes at the Selangor Turf Club courtesy of the Racing Enhancement Fund (REF).
