The Selangor Turf Club will host two race meetings this weekend consisting of eighteen races spread across Saturday and Sunday with feature racing taking place on Sunday the 13th of October in the form of the Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Cup for RM100000. Here are a few horses to follow and keep an eye on. 

Saturday’s nine race program does seem a little tricky compared to Sunday’s however, there does seem to be a common denominator that in race 5 – 11 GULF EAGLE stands out as possibly the best bet on the card. He’s had the five local starts in Malaysia and has notched up three wins, a second as well as a third placing. He steps up in class from a Class 4A to Class 3 company but comes in with just 52,5kgs to shoulder. He should take a power of beating but respect 8 JOEY, who had no luck in running in his last start and still managed to run on behind the talented Witnessimpact. 

Sunday’s racecard definitely presents itself as a more punter friendly program and punters can get off to a winning start in the first race with 1 SAYONARA who is making his local debut from Singapore. He won his recent trial back on the 24/09/24 and after finishing 1,8 lengths back in his last Singapore run, he should have every chance of winning in this field. Race 4 will see 9 YES MAN step out after being narrowly beaten on the line by Bold Runner in the NZB Airfreight Trophy. He comes in here with 53,5kgs on the back and he should go one better with the immediate danger being the filly, 10 Gold Medal Rose.

WITNESSIMPACT is looking to keep his unbeaten Malaysian record intact after another impressive victory despite stepping up in class with every run so far. Can he make it four from four? I certainly think so especially with the slight drop back in trip to 1100m as it looked like he was starting to run on weary legs in the final 100m which allowed the second placed horse to narrow the margin.

The feature race of the program takes place at 16:30 local time and what a field for the Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Cup. The gutsy 5 ANTIPODEAN returns after his Selangor Gold Cup victory over Golden Pegasus from over a month ago and he meets a few of the runners from that race once again. However, from eight starts in Malaysia he’s only had his colours taken down once to Gamestonks over 1300m where there were a few excuses when he ran on too late. He does meet on worse terms than Golden Pegasus but subsequently Golden Pegasus was beaten by Berry Bliss over 1700m which does make studying this race a little tricky to read on paper and it could all come down to luck in running. Antipodean remains the on top selection but don’t be surprised if runners like Awesome Storm and Berry Bliss come to upset the party as they’re both off the back of impressive victories in their last respective starts. 

A fantastic weekend of racing awaits and if you are in the Sungai Besi area, it is encouraged that you make your way down to the track for some top class racing and entertainment throughout the weekend.
