TUNKU GOLD CUP AN OPEN AFFAIR
This year’s RM 200,000 G1 Tunku Gold Cup appears one of the most open for many years with numerous winning chances.
Visiting Brazilian hoop Bernardo Pinheiro will be reunited with 2022 winner AWESOME STORM, who recaptured his best form with a decisive 3.5 length victory over 1400m a fortnight ago. The pair combined to finish 2nd behind SAN ANDREAS in last year’s cup and will head the weights with 60kg.
SAN ANDREAS has not scored since that memorable effort when he drew barrier 16 before flashing home from last at the 400m.
Progressive performer, SHIMI GO has the ability to outpace his more experienced rivals and despite resuming a two month break, he appears well weighted with the 54kg.
G1 Penang Gold Cup winner, CHEVAL BLANC has been freshened since his half length defeat behind last week’s derby winner Trumpy while stable mate
CHINESE TEA has the potential to win a group race.
GAMESTONKS appeared short of a run when resuming here two weeks back and could provide new trainer, Leck Kai Jin with immediate group success for his first day as an “A” licensed trainer.
